The journal itself was what i was looking for. Ii was purchase for a relative and contain everything that was needed except the key. The that is picture with journal look like it would have the ability to lock it,which is what I wanted, but that was not the case. The key was only for decoration, and for as much as the journal cost you would think a key would be included.

Cheap Laugh & Learn Spanish Grammar! Book

This book is full of worksheets with a joke at the top of the page in English. The students then do an activity to spell out the answer in English at the bottom of the top. Each page has a code that is filled out with letters or words from the correct answers.

The chapters are:

Nouns and Articles

Adjectives

Verbs include: present, preterite, imperfect, subjunctives, future, conditional, commands, besides some choosing between two verbs, such as saber and conocer

Pronouns

Special uses, such as time, months, and question words

Some of the pages are matching the Spanish with the English translation. Other pages are fill in the blanks of Spanish sentences. Some pages have the students circle yes or no if the sentence is correct. There are also a few mazes.

The jokes are pretty corny, such as "What goes tick, tick, woof, woof?" A watch dog. Or "What do you call a cow lying in the dirt?" "Ground beef." But kids love it. I like that they self correct to figure out the joke. It's something students can do on their own with a sub who doesn't speak Spanish. These are worksheets your students will want to do.

PURPOSE OF PURCHASE:

My daughter had just turned 11 months old. I was looking for a fill-and-spill toy that she would not outgrow as quickly as many other baby toys and I was hoping for something that she would use for creative play for the next couple of years. We were skeptical at first because we felt that, although the price is reasonable, we still did not want to throw away $20 and she might not care for it or it may be a little mature for her.

I am so glad that we bought it. It was the last of the gifts that we bought for her first Christmas, and I just know it was meant for her to have.

DESCRIPTION:

Everything is made of hard plastic, except for the checked "blanket" which is like a handkerchief. The basket is packed pretty full with everything inside, but she can easily fit it all back in without help. She loves carrying all of the pieces around in her little hands. (There are many pieces and you don't want them lost!) The full basket is a little heavy for a baby. She did not carry the entire basket around until recently (14 months) and still prefers not to, but she has always taken it off of her toyshelf and sat with it closeby in the floor. I can watch this thing growing with her. She likes to put the food pieces and forks in her mouth. And she LOVES the sounds it makes when the lid opens and closes. She loves the songs that it sings, and let me tell you, the voice is too cute and sweet. She dances while she plays and tries to sing.

POSITIVE:

I love it because it is easy to wipe clean (even though I haven't had to clean it yet), it is durable, it is fun, adorable, AND VERY educational!!

I had not realized before she started playing with it, but it teaches manners (saying please & thank you) and some prepositions, such as: put one cup IN the other cup, spread the blanket ON the ground UNDER the tree...a picnic WITH my friend. It sings the colors of the rainbow. It counts up to four often. It sings short songs about how many sides each shape has, and each of the three foods on each plate is a different shape (triangle pie slice, square cracker, circle orange slice). It asks you to find each shape. The plates are similar to wooden puzzles (only plastic), and she is learning to put the foods in place.

She also LOVES music, and this thing is constantly singing. It even reminds you to push the butterfly button to hear a song. She can play with this toy 100% by herself, and I know that she will not outgrow it any time soon because it is also my favorite of her toys. And when her cousins (4yrs & 11yrs) came to visit, this is the toy that they played with for 2 hours straight! She plays with it more than any other toy (and she has too many toys). We have never had to replace the batteries since she first got it.

NEGATIVE:

The cups are not intended to hold liquids. They each have two holes in the bottom that you could almost stick a pencil through. I like that she will have to use her imagination and also I will not have to worry about the inside of the picnic basket getting sticky with juice and I am glad that ants will not be stored in there. (But some people would rather have usable cups, and if your child tried to use them, it would be messy, so I thought I would mention this.)

The only real negative that I can find is that the talking basket may ask you to find the triangle, but it has no way to know whether you found it, so it does not correct you or praise you. It never responds or gives hints or anything. So basically, it just randomly asks your child to find things, but she may never know if her answer was correct (or wrong!). Therefore, I recommend that Mommy plays with her.

BOTTOM LINE:

I say it is well worth every cent (and more)!

this is a great toy! very durable, bold colors. everything fits into the basket so it's easy to store and not lose pieces. My 18 month old daughter loves playing pretend and this is a great toy for her. Plus, all the food is a shape that fits in it's on spot on the plates, like a puzzle. It helps her with shapes, colors and I can get her to clean up when she's done. And she loves carrying this around the house.

I have never written a review before, but had to for this toy. My 2 1/2 year old daughter and 11 month old son play with this toy constantly and fight over it so much so I am thinking about buying another one. We have more toys than anyone I know. I know the good, bad and easily broken ones on the market. This toy has everything you'd want for your kids.

My son is turning 1 next month and he really likes this toy. I stack it for him and he knocks it down. He chews on the pieces and they are very durable, the paint doesn't chip and it doesn't show teeth marks. Now we have a game were I try to get it stacked before he can knock it down. We go back and forth like that and honestly it's fun for me too. We have electronic toys that light up and play music but I honestly think he prefers this, we can play with it for a long time without him getting bored. Also it's very attractive and bright. I think it would make a nice display piece on a shelf too.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I suggest checking the dimensions on this toy before purchasing. I did not do that and it's smaller than I expected. That is not the reason for the three stars. This is a cute little toy, and it will be a welcome addition to my baby sitting toy box. This toy looks exactly as pictured, the colors are nice and solidly painted. The little bear head gives it a little extra interest, beyond just a stack of rings. My concern is that the magnets don't seem to be as strong as I would expect for this type of toy. Since there is no shaft to stack them on, the rings depend on the magnets to keep them in place. Still, in my personal rating system three stars is a good solid item, and I'm not at all sorry to have taken a chance on it. This will provide my nephew with plenty of enjoyment and that is what counts. There isn't much else to say, except that for what it is, I would say take a chance on it. Magnets are always fun for kids!

Each piece is a solid piece, not the normal "donut" shape, and there is no vertical shaft that they all stack on. Each disc, including the base and the bear head has a magnet inside and each piece "sticks" to the one below and above it. The colors are bright and lovely, the little bear is sweet looking and I like how the base is curved so it rocks a little. The reason for only three stars is that the magnets are a little too weak in my opinion. One little swipe and they all tumble down. And It will be impossible for this set to stay even remotely together in the toy box because the magnetic force is so weak. I love the concept, but I wish it had the shaft also so that it would stay in place better. This toy is also a fun introduction to the concept of magnetism and the forces of attraction and repulsion.

I greatly prefer wooden toys to plastic, too, and bingo, this is wooden! I love the color choices, too.

The magnets are helpful, and not so strong as to be intrusive. If you are going to play with this, you will need to pay attention to put the magnets together the way they will come together instead of pushing apart. But they don't go falling all over the place, because the magnets are not so strong that they would push hard when backwards. They are strong enough to add stability when the little bear tower rocks on its gently rounded base.

I like this toy a LOT!

My 15 month old daughter stacks the discs as if she were stacking any kind of blocks, but the difference is that these stay stacked. The magnets are NOT so strong that you feel like you're stacking magnets. You are stacking blocks, that just are much better at not toppling over. In my opinion, that's the perfect idea for a toddler fairly new to stacking.

I really love this toy for her. It's got the classic look and feel ... a great toy to keep on display on a shelf ... but it also has the smarts of a modern designed toy.

The cards are made of a thick cardboard material. It is stiff, but I can definitely see a kid bending it without much difficulty. The laces have plastic tips making the tip narrow, and easier to thread the holes in the cards. My toddler is able to thread easily without assistance from me. It doesn't hold my child's attention at two years old, but maybe it will get more play in the next year, we'll see.

When I showed this book to my seven-year-old math monster, he wouldn't let me stop reading it. I read most of the book to him over about 3 hours, with discussions and figuring out some of the little puzzles at the end. Then, first thing this morning he stuffed the book back in my hands. I'm sure my voice will feel better tomorrow, and the things I learned will last a lot longer. He wouldn't let me stop reading enough to play the games that used paper and scissors until I had read everything. He's doing them now. Maybe when my throat recovers I'll tell him I also bought another book by this author.

I ordered this for my 5 yr. old son who loves watching Kai Lan on TV. He loves the Asian culture & loves learning Mandarin Chinese. I find it very beneficial for a young child to learn different languages & I definitely encourage it. Our 16 mo old twins love this toy. I dont know what the other reviewer is talking about in terms of a sharp big bird-all of our parts are safe, not sharp, easy to handle and of superior plastic-very durable. Not cheap thin flimsy stuff at all. Boys love this stacker compared to the other non Sesame ones we have. And, Quinn keeps trying to find other things to put the rings around, testing shapes to see what fits. Great toy!

I have a 10 month old who prefers playing with my cell phone, his wipes case, or even an empty box. It is rare he will sit and play with a toy but this one he loves. Very simple and straightforward. I think it is very well made and the price was right. Comes with 4 rings (including the topper with Big Bird) and the base. This is a really cute stacker and I love that the pole part is like a Sesame Street street lamp. However, when big bird is on top, my daughter has a hard time carrying it. You have to have your hand underneath the bottom to carry it and that's just not realistic of a toddler to do when she wants to carry a toy. She goes to grab it and gets it bird while the rest of the toy just sits there.

My daughter got this kit for christmas and was excited to start it, so we followed the instructions and waited and nothing grew except like a another reviewer said "mold". So we tried the next one and still nothing :-(! Although we are very disappointed it was still fun to set up and try, I would recommend buying some others seeds and just trying a few that come with this kit and I hope you have better luck than us.

We bought this for our 3 year old who LOVES Sid the Science kid and also loves helping with the plants. My husband sat down with our son and went threw the steps each day and helped him make his observations in his journal. He was so excited about the whole process and he checked on his plants daily. Sadly, the only thing that sprouted after watching and waiting and occasionally watering when dry for two weeks was mold on top of all the cups. Luckily, we had some other starter plants that he received from Sunday school and they have taken off like crazy; so he hasn't noticed that his Sid plants have disappeared yet. He loves his journal and making his observations just like Sid. I will likely buy another Sid Science kit, just not this one again. I'm not the greatest at keeping plants alive so I am going to chalk this one up to my inability with plants rather than calling it a defective product. We all still had fun with it and it was still a good learning experience even though it didn't work out, which is why I rated it a little higher. It was a great introduction into how things grow and really peaked his interest in helping with the gardening.

We have enjoyed this as a great starter kit. We also ordered aprons, a few more beakers and a scale to round out our explorations. The lab equipment is glass and "real" which is what our son wanted. Husband is pleased it is real equipment which means more possibilities in what they can do with the set. This has led to hours of fun and also serious learning.

We got this set yesterday. Very fast delivered and nice set but we are not happy that two of the pieces (one of them was the biggest one)came broken. When I checked the box there were not any label or sign of "glass" "handle with care" or "delicated". Being a set of glass items that need to be handled with care, without any sign, there is NO WAY the mail carrier knows how to handle it so it can be delivered and enjoyed as it was buyed by the costumer. It does not matter how nice and good the set is, if it is going to be delivered in broken pieces it is not going be liked anyway.I will contact the seller today.

I recently resurrected an old childhood hobby of chemistry and found this set was the perfect purchase to rebuild my collection of necessary lab hardware. The set contains about 75% of what I needed and I got the other 25% from one-off purchases on Amazon, eBay, and a few speciality websites (just wish more of my purchases were things here on Amazon that I could get Prime shipping on).

Everything is as described here and seems to be good quality. I've been using the lab set for over a month and don't have any big complaints. The cork stoppers are fine but would have preferred rubber stoppers. I didn't use the alcohol burner as I opted to use this guy for my flame heat source: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NCZTZG/

I bought this toy for my twin girls around 10 months of age and they seem very interested in the toy and have even figured out how to put the balls on the top track to get them started going. I agree with the previous reviewer that the balls should be a little larger one of my girls can get the ball all the way in her mouth, too. My only other complaint is that while the edges are smooth, one of my girls bumped her head a few different times on the edge of the tracks (out toward the edge of the toy) and it left a pretty nasty bruise/mark. This is not the fault of the toy, as my little ones were learning to walk and quite clumsy at the time, but because of this I recommend this for children who are a little bit older and more stable with their walking.

Very well put together, smooth edges, great quality. My only gripe is that the balls are a touch small. My little one can get them all the way in her mouth. I thought she might be ready for this toy at 10 months, but we will have to put it away for a while until she stops wanting to eat everything. She loves the sun that moves back and forth.
