Buy NEW Leapster 2 Recharging Station (Toys)
This was a gift to my grandson. He is still pretty young to do all that can be done with this Leapster 2. But I have been told that he loves it.My daughter LOVES her Leapster 2. She has had it for two years, since she was 1 1/2. She loves her game so much that keeping batteries ( and Im sure most of you know you have to use good quality batteries) in the system was fleeting. She would go through a set of 4 in 1 day. I am so thankful they made this charger and I am so happy with it. I keep the battery pack full just in case we go out on a long trip, but the charger is perfect for at home. A must buy if your child has a Leapster 2 and loves it!

Cheap Pack of 100 Insect Pins - Size 0
Great pins, as I was looking for thin pins to sew with. I sew doll clothes, and these thin pins work quite well at holding small bits of fabric with less bulk than the thick, currently made 'sewing' or 'silk' pins.

Reviews of Children's Pink Magic Mirror Laptop for Baby and Toddler
My granddaughter loves this toy. She enjoys looking in the mirror, listening to the programs and opening and closing the top-not bad for a 7 month old. Fun toy and will be much more entertaining as she ages a bit.

Watch-A-Bug Reviews
My 3 year old loves this watch because it leaves his hands free to catch additional insects/bugs; and I love this watch because it tightly clicks shut! So many other bug "boxes" and containers just have lids that are placed on top but don't lock into place which means 99% of the time the little critters are going to end up in places you don't want them! (such as running around your house or in your car while you are driving and your child is strapped in his carseat so obviously can't re-catch them). I have bought about a dozen or so other bug "boxes" or "houses or "containers" and this is by far the best one. I only wish I had found it before wasting all my money on all those others.
I think it's a great idea-kinda gross to think they're on their arm, but there's plenty of sturdy plastic between wrist & bug!
Cool and cheap toy. I do feel bad for the bugs...but she truly loves them!!

I ordered this for our 4.5yo son for Christmas, to use next Spring. I broke down & gave it to him when it came today & he LOVES it! Now our 5.5yo son wants one too, & he's not even the tree hugger! I bought these for a couple of 4 year old boys who love to collect all things creepy crawly. Only thing is that the poor little insects often receive a bit too much loving while being clamped in their small, moist hands. This frequently turns out to be an unfortunate end for the bugs and results in heartbroken little guys who were trying to be gentle with their new buggy friends. The wrist habitat offers the insect a semi-safe spot to be viewed and "befriended" by little folk. It also gives an opportunity for parents to instill some early compassion in their children; such as, "Honey, I think that Calvin the Cricket has ridden around long enough now and would probably like to go home to see his family. Maybe another bug can take a turn for a bit." After one or two of these suggestions, I've noticed that the kids become very conscientious about returning their bugs to the spot where they were originally found. So, all in all, a fun accessory to observe bugs; but also an opportunity for the little ones to think things through and learn about other living creatures around them.Honest reviews on Watch-A-Bug
I just bought this for my 5 year old daughter. She loves rolly-polly's and is always carrying them around. Now she can stop handing them to me and just put them in her watch.Cool and cheap toy. I do feel bad for the bugs...but she truly loves them!!

Purchased this for my son's christmas stocking. He loves to find bugs and put them in here or just use the fake one for pretend play. I think this will be great when we go on hiking trips!Monday, October 20, 2014
Mendini MJDS-5-BL Complete 16-Inch 5-Piece Blue Junior Drum Set Review
This review may sound a little too critical for a kids set, but I hope this honesty helps you decide. I do like the set and I wasn't expecting great things but there are a few areas that really should have been better. I'll run through each item with a brief description.
Drums:
*Snare drum Shell & rim construction are fine. The skins will hold up to gentle use. The snare is just a brush of wires set against the upper skin which can be adjusted for pressure by turning the side knob. Apart from the snare sound being fairly awful, the drum itself is a lot quieter than a real snare which may appeal to many parents. (I wasn't expecting to use this snare and ordered a 10 inch Pearl Firecracker to replace it, which is great but very loud.)
*Toms Shell & rim construction are as the snare and sound really good when tuned up.
*Floor Tom Shell & rim construction are the same, legs seem good and plenty sturdy with good height adjustment.
Overall, the drum shells, rims and skins are very good and well worth it.
Hardware:
Hi-Hat Stand Pedal is okay, it's belt (small fabric strip) driven. Seems sturdy enough for a child (adult feet should tread lightly though). My only complaint is that the top-cymbal retaining nut was really (I mean really) badly mis-threaded and caused the top hat cymbal to rest at about a 15 degree angle. I had to go to the hardware store to find a nut to replace this, annoying as the person putting this together should have just thrown this nut away and picked up another one and saved me wasting an hour of my life.
Drum pedal Pedal is pretty bad. Same little strap driving it which is fine for very light use. There's no spring adjustment and the arm link for the spring to hook onto was badly machined so the hammer only had about an inch of travel to the skin, which makes it hard to get any feel or action from the pedal. (I've ordered a 30 dollar replacement from ebay, as I was so disappointed)
Snare Stand Shockingly bad. What is supplied is different from what is in the photo in the instruction manual which should be a regular lightweight stand with height and angle adjustment. What I received was a three leg stand with a wing-nut in the top of a straight shaft and three loose pieces of metal angles to put under the wing-nut to try and balance the snare drum on. This is a really bad and cheapskate stand. I'm most upset because the instructions indicated that a real stand was included and showed how to put a real stand together. As it's not adjustable in height, it's too high for my son and I'll have to find a replacement.
Seat/throne excellent little seat with three heights of adjust-ability.
Cymbals:
Don't even think about using them unless you have the set in a soundproof room. Awful pretty much sums them up, but you shouldn't expect anything else at this price point. They are something for the kid to hit, so I'm not complaining. I got a set of cheap 10" Meinl hi-hats and a really cheap 10" Meinl splash. I put the bottom hat and the splash together on the hi-hat stand and used the slightly heavier top hat as the crash. Seems to work pretty well and sounds OK.
Overall good drums but bad hardware.
I contacted Ceciliomusic com since the crash cymbal broke after 4 months of use. Unfortunately the manufacturer stated it was not covered under the warranty. Even after repeated attempts to understand why, I basically just got a generic answer and was informed I would have to work with the dealer, i.e. Amazon, which I did. Amazon was able to go above and beyond with their customer service and I'm getting a replacement cymbal in the end, but I wanted to make folks aware that the "warranty" effectively does not exist and that the quality is pretty bad! Why would a crash cymbal break after such short time period?
In addition, the instructions that came with the set were pretty bad. It stated that we needed a particular piece to assemble one of the stands that was missing in the package. Only after contacting Amazon to obtain the missing piece, I was told that the instructions were incorrect, and one can actually assemble the stand without that piece.
The instructions also are lacking any information on who to contact for the warranty, so only through Amazon was I able to get the contact details. Pretty bad customer service overall in terms of Ceciliomusic itself.

My sister-in-law and I assembled this Christmas Eve in less than 30 minutes. The drum set looks great and our three boys (ages 5, 7 and 10) LOVE IT! They have been playing it non-stop and it sounds great. I thought it might be too small for the 10 year old, but it isn't and he loves it. SO relieved that it was a hit! I recommend this set whole-heartedly.Best Deals for Mendini MJDS-5-BL Complete 16-Inch 5-Piece Blue Junior Drum Set
We bought this drum set for our 3 yr old for Christmas. We've had other cheaper drum sets that didn't last very long. This set is well worth the money. Our son is musically inclined and plays with it constantly. The set comes with its own stool and set of drum sticks. The drums and cymbols are of good quality and will last a long time. Everything is height adjustable. He plays the drums and sings with his karoke mike that he also got from Santa. I highly recommend this set....again,it is WELL WORTH THE MONEY!Honest reviews on Mendini MJDS-5-BL Complete 16-Inch 5-Piece Blue Junior Drum Set

This drum set is excellent for beginners! I bought this set for my son's 5th birthday and he absolutely loves them! They are just the right size for him! My only critcism is that the instructions were a little vague. I do not play drums and did not know how to set them up. After looking directions up on the internet I finally figured it out. Other than that, they are great!Thursday, October 16, 2014
Best Budget Bucky Anatomical Skeleton Model CH10 With Stand Deals

i bought this for my studies of anatomy. it is a budget model so it defiantly has ridges where the mold was put together, and the wire is sharp in places, but it is well built and sturdy. it has all the minor features, such as tubercles, very visible. i was pleasntly surprised at the level of detail. the exceptions are: the sternum, which is just paint on the cartilage, and the inside of the skull, which lacks some of the smaller foramen and has a big chunk you cant see due to hardware for mounting (it has an option to hang from head). otherwise its great, the arms pronate and supinate. they wired the scapula to the ribs so the movement is limited there. i am considering unwiring it. i read people had trouble putting it together, i cant imagine how, it was very easy. there where small screws and pins that had come undone during shipping, so open carefully. it is however really easy to figure out how to put it back together. pair this with a set of washable markers for indicating origin and insertion and you have an excellent study aide.I had a more expensive, higher quality skeleton that finally gave up the ghost. This version is of a lesser quality and the joints are not as easily moveable, but it suffices for my office needs. The cast iron stand is quite heavy and solid compared to the previous models which were plastic.

Magnifying Bug Jug Review
I ordered this to go with a couple of preying mantis egg cases I wanted to be able to see the baby bugs. It arrived promptly and properly contained the egg cases, and also the baby mantids I was very happy to NOT have a zillion baby mantids roaming around my screened-in porch! It was easy enough to take the bug jug out to the garden and open it to release the mantids, too.
When I ordered it, I thought "And we have a boy, so this will be fun for him anyhow. Bugs. Educational toy!" The boy is currently afraid of bugs (except ants, which he is willing so step on), so it's not so useful with him right now...

My boy of 3 years old has been filling his pockets with rolly-polellies for several weeks. This is a much better temporary home than his pockets! It arrived a little late, even with Prime shipping, it took 4 days to arrive, but it has come in front of the praying mantis eggs I ordered for my garden. Hopefully we can hatch the eggs in this little bug home and then release them into the garden and watch them grow! The toy was a great deal for the dollar!Best Deals for Magnifying Bug Jug
I don't understand why someone would make a bug catcher, that is aimed towards kids that you can't detach the bottom to get grass, leaves & bugs out. The only way to get stuff out is to shake it out the small little whole at the top. I could have bought something just as good at the $1 store. I am disappointed to say the least.Honest reviews on Magnifying Bug Jug
As soon as my 3 1/2 year old opened this he went right to collecting! In an hour we had caught several snails and 2 frogs. It helped him view the activity of an animal and taught him to be gentle with creatures and we learned about natural habitats. The magnifying glass isn't the clearest but didn't really matter :)Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Magnifying Bug Jug

Pizza Mania Early Math Game Review

List Price: $24.99

Even though Pizza Mania is technically an Early Math game, to my boys its just a fun game. It is a game that comes with four plastic pieces and pizza toppings, everything being quite durable! The game also comes with a pizza chef which is a plastic pizza guy who talks you through the game! He does require 3 AAA batteries, which are not included and his Italian voice makes my boys laugh. There are only two buttons on him, Start and Game so it is quite simple for my boys to play, but I do have to get them started as there are two games to choose from.
The first game, Pizza Party, is more for beginners (or younger players) as it uses basic adding and subtracting by 1-3 toppings. The chef tells players what toppings to add or take away from their pizzas.
The second game, Pizza Panic, is for more advanced players. It is basically the same as the first game but faster.
The games last about a minute and at the end of the game the chef will tell you what should be left on your pizza, whoever's pizza matches wins! So yes there can be more than one winner! I really like that there (hopefully) isn't just one winner, as so many games are about competition but this game is more about self-confidence and paying attention. It encourages players to pay attention, listen to directions and not necessarily compete. While it is for 2-4 players (ages 4 and up) , really one person can play on their own to practice. My 3 year old loves to make the pizzas on his own and he is slowly understanding that he needs to listen to the pizza chef's directions.

Love this toy! As a former teacher, now a childcare provider, I would recommend this toy! The pieces are rubber and extremely cute! Excellent for teaching children to follow directions and learning to realize its ok to not always be correct, so long as they tried. Only thing I'd recommend is maybe a clearer voice from pizza man. You can understand him fine just could be a little clearer. But love the concept!!Best Deals for Pizza Mania Early Math Game
I purchased the "Pizza Mania Early Math Game" for my younger kids as an educational tool, to use in their homeschooling education. I had no idea of just how great an item it was until after having received it. The quality is exceptional, and my kids who absolutely love pizza, were blown away when I presented them with it to play it the first time. It was an investment of $20.00 that far exceeded my expectations, and as I said my kids love playing it. We even take it to doctor's appointments so that the kids can play it while waiting to be seen by their doctor.Honest reviews on Pizza Mania Early Math Game

This was purchased for my 4 year old granddaughter. She enjoys playing it and will sometimes play by herself. My only complaint is the volume. As another reviewer stated it would be nice to have a volume switch on it. The volume for the pizza man giving the instructions is fine, it's the background music that is to loud. Sometimes it is hard to hear the instructions over the music.Wednesday, September 17, 2014
Elenco 75-in-One Elecronic Project Lab Review
This thing is fantastic. It has 75 possible experiments that can be done without help if you stay within the age group recommended. Kids can use the included wires to make bells, buzzers, lights, sirens, and more. It's all about following the diagram and connecting the included wires to the terminals. That's all there is too it. It travels well too for hours and I mean hours of fun in the car. The parts are all connected to the board so there's nothing to fall out. You can buy extra wire anywhere. This "toy" is a great value.
The projects are delivered in "cookbook" fashion, i.e. this-connects-to-that-connects-to-the-other. Reasons for why a circuit should be set up this way are minimal. Sometimes it will say something like "the transistor and capacitor provide the signal, while the other capacitor and resistor control the frequency." Why we should use one capacitor over another is not addressed.
The manual also attempts to teach the reader how to read the schematics, but this instruction is also lacking.
Overall, though, this is an enjoyable kit, and worth the price in terms of how much there is to do. Someone looking for something more educational, though, might look elsewhere.

Ubooly Smart Toy Reviews
The Ubooly is such an adorable little guy! We love how personalized the Ubooly is, leaning favorite colors, hobbies, and foods. This is one of the rare tech toys I really enjoy my kids playing with since it does make learning so much fun. We have a 10 year old and 5 year old twins, all three of them love the Ubooly! This toy makes a great present too. As per our suggestion, a friend of ours gave her daughter an Ubooly for Christmas and she love it. I highly recommend this Ubooly.
Interest Packs: Their interest packs are full of fun facts of trivia to get your child excited about specific topics. I love anything that sparks the love of learning in children. I guess that is the teacher coming out in me. Fitness & Helper Packs: Ubooly will also help with personal growth & create healthy habits through the Fitness and Helper packs. Now the only thing I want to know is do they make these for adults.
Content packs are all designed to be age appropriate for different age ranges (3-9)Content packs are written by a large team of elementary teachers & comediansThat is awesome.
My daughter loved the fact that it is so cute and cuddly as well. She had a chance to play with Pip Squeak with some of her younger friends. Our dog of course had to try it out as well. Our neighbor has a little girl who is six and she absolutely loved it. Here is another great feature of the Ubooly is that it can interact with other Uboolys as well. How awesome is that?
I as a parent loved how excited that Gracie got when she played with Pip Squeak.
I also loved how easy it was to install and use. First you need to download the app from iTunes. Then you insert your iPhone into the Ubooly and your child in on their way to hours and hours of fun. I have to admit that I even had fun playing with it as well. I will have to say when I first received my Ubooly for review and it was activate Gracie could not wait to play with it. This is definite must have for any little one that loves to play with their parents cell phones.

Best Dino Dan Dinocular Kit - Large Deals
I bought this set for my dino loving little one. The set brings 4 dinosaurs (a styracosaurus, a diplodocus, a tyrannosaurus rex, and a stygimoloch)4 dino cards, binoculars, and a DVD with 2 episodes. The dinosaurs are very finely crafted, sturdy, well painted and well detailed, about 4 inches high and 8 inches long, but that is an estimate. It goes well with other dinosaurs from the animal planet bucket, and it features uncommon dinosaurs that are not typically found in other dinosaur toy collections, with the exception of the T-Rex.
Two of the dinosaurs, the t-rex and the stygimoloch, come on bases, I suppose because their poses would not allow them to be free standing otherwise. I made mistake and tried to remove one of them from its base and it snapped the base off, and now it doesn't stand, so avoid doing that.
As for the binoculars, they have very low magnification, but the little ones will like to wear them on their necks anyway and pretend to be like Dino Dan. It all comes in a nice box that is exciting for the kids to open and explore all the accessories.

LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game Disney Princess Review
My daughter loves the leapster. She has every game made and she loves this one. My favorite part of this game is dancing with cinderella. My daughter needs help with writing and she gets to collect jewels in her treasure box as she traces over the letter. The game encourages her to keep trying and at the end she watches cinderella dance, as well as count her jewels. Disney Princess has many other games on this cartridge and she loves them all.
There is a more educational game w/ Gus that teaches shapes, numerical order, etc. The magical footsteps also teach writing skills. I still expect more from Leapfrog, although my daughters do prefer the Princess games to the others. I would recommend the Dora cartridge if you're looking for more of an educational game. I'm glad I got this on sale-it's definitely not worth the retail price.
Do all games have to prepare children for being rocket scientist? Can't kids be kids and just play with something that they enjoy? I give it a BIG thumbs up!

My 3 & 4 y.o. daughters love this cartridge, but the games are a little silly in my opinion. I'm not sure what the fireworks game is supposed to teach (fireworks explode wherever the pen is pointed). There are also two games that just play songs. There is a more educational game w/ Gus that teaches shapes, numerical order, etc. The magical footsteps also teach writing skills. Best Deals for LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game Disney Princess
I bought this cartridge for my 5 year old and she has a very hard time seeing what you are supposed to be doing. The graphics are not very clear. She gets so frustrated that she prefers to play with the other games. Had I know what the graphics looked like, I would have never purchased it.Honest reviews on LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game Disney Princess
My daughter got this game when she was 4 and still loves it (she is 5 1/2). It teaches handwriting, math concepts, listening skills and it goes on for a long time unlike the other games that are over in 20 minutes. It also gets them to use their fine motor skills. I am a former teacher and I tell all my friends with girls this is the game to have. I have to disagree that this game is silly and noneducational. I think it is very appropriate for the 3 1/2 to 5 age range depending on your child. I think that once your child reaches kider they might be too advanced for it, but still love to play it.Do all games have to prepare children for being rocket scientist? My daughter, who is 4 and VERY into the Disney Princesses, absolutely adores this game. It's her very favorite Leapster title. She's earned her third tiara recently and is very proud. One plus to this game is that it does have the child work on handwriting, which is helpful for us as my daughter doesn't like to work on her penmanship! This one is an absolute "must" if your girl is into the princesses!
