i got this for my nephew who is autistic. he is just over 3. he's still a little too rough for handling the cards themselves, but with his therapist or parent helping he loves going through these. he didn't start to talk till 2.7 years old, and with these his vocabulary is increasing fast. i love that the voice that speaks the card object names is very clear. it has 3 play options. example a card with a piano. the 1st button just states : "piano" the 2nd button states "this is a piano. it makes this sound" then it plays a couple bars of music. the 3rd button ask what the item is for testing. the pictures are real pictures not cartoons. they are broken up into catogories for easy lessons. the shapes also have a smaller picture. example the oval shape has a smaller picture of an egg by it and button 2 states " this is an oval. an egg is oval shaped." he'll also go through them quickly by using them as flash cards without audio. only complaint is that it is pricey. the cards are not quite thick enough to withstand little hands, but with adult supervision what a great aid for learning.

My son's class used this tool to get him to identify objects, he is autistic. As soon as I heard he liked it, I bought it for hom use. Some of the cards have been ripped up, and the kids have dumped them into one huge pile a few times making it a headache to reorganize when you have a hundred other things to do, but I am overall satisfied. We stopped using it for a while but we are bringing it back to his home plan! Great learning tool!

This is a nifty little guitar. Perfect price if you are not sure if your child is going to stick around with it, yet a good, quality instrument so they can learn properly.

I love that it came with a strap and a bag. The bag doesn't have any padding, but is still a better alternative than leaving it out or trying to carry it at the neck.

Bought this guitar for my 3 year old. He enjoys playing and singing with it. He can easily hold it on his lap to play, but his fingers do not reach onto the frets. I am sure it is because he is so small. It is attractive and the case is nice for transport. It has a decent sound and seems to be holding up for a 3 year old's play.

This was difficult to tune and required retuning frequently. The lower strings are metal covered and stayed in tune better than the upper strings, which are nylon. The lower strings also sound much better. I will be looking for alternative upper strings. The instrument itself is well made, came with a nice strap and case which also had a nice carry strap.

I bought this for my 6yr old who saved up all his chore money to buy it! On receipt of the guitar I attempted to tune it to E so I could teach him a few easy chords while playing my Taylor. First off the string tension was either ridiculously loose or dangerously tight as I attempted to tune it, the D string snapped way before it hit pitch and I now have a crying boy who really wanted to play this instrument but cannot as its untuneable!!! Its going back asap....I've been playing 28yrs and have never found an instrument so impossible to get in tune...piece of junk.

This box is a lot more descriptive than the Original box it has words like 'corduroy' and 'champagne', so I think it's a bit more limited. There are definitely enough pronouns and conjunctions to make coherent sentences though. The whole box takes up the entire surface of a regular sized freezer. Never had an issue with them falling off, even when slamming fridge door.

I bought "Leap and the Lost Dinosaur" for my kindergartner and he absolutely LOVES it. His favorite part is the page at the end which includes several clear plastic pockets in which he inserts the included dinosaur cards to hear how certain dinosaurs might have interacted if they came in contact. I gave my son a snack-size resealable bag to store his cards in so they're less likely to become "extinct"! The folks at LeapPad thoughtfully included a "wild card" that can function as any of the dinosaurs in the collection in case one (or more) of the cards should happen to go missing. I am completely satisfied with this addition to our growing LeapPad library.

My boys ages 6 and 3 love this book. It is different in that there is a deck of cards included that can be inserted in the back of the book and then the child can learn different facts about different dinosaurs...ie...how fast...when did he exist...how much did he eat. They love this part, "runs as fast as a chicken" "big as an elephant" it allows them to make a comparison to something they know.

This toy is awesome. My nephew age 2 loved clifford. this is super durable for those "boys will be boys" kids. It is great for fine motor and he learned his shapes. it is also a great toy for teaching and learning patience when the blocks dont fit. This is a great toy because it is so versatile. You can use it as a puzzle or use the pieces alone for a variety of counting, matching, and sorting games. I would highly recommend all the Lauri toys; we have several and my youngest two kids (ages 3 and 6) enjoy all of them. We homeschool, and I keep these in a box of toys I only get out during school to keep my 3yo busy at the table. This keeps the toys special and keeps the pieces from getting lost.

This is an interesting toy. Our 22m old liked it a lot. When we opened it we took away most of the cards and gave our daughter only 3 cards. There are a lot of parts and we did not want them to get lost. Cards are not too large only about 2.5in by 4in. online picture made it look like these cards were 8in by 11in. Now that we played with it I am glad they are small. Our daughter likes the size. The problem that we had with this set is that the foam is too thin. I wish it was thicker. Cards are very soft. When our 22m old caries them around parts can come out. I would not give these cards to the kid and walk away. This toy is a lot of fun when you play with it together.

This seems like a simple toy that kids might get bored with, but no! It keeps the attention of kids from toddler age up to about 5. Great for counting, sorting, fine motor, vocabulary. It does have a lot of little pieces, but since my kids have been so engaged with it, and putting the pieces back in is the whole point, the kids have been amazingly self-monitoring about keeping track of the parts! Now on its 5th kid, my toddler is using 1, 2 and 3 and will move on to other numbers soon. Highly recommended-few toys offer this much learning and fun for the price.

I would not call this a toy, as it's not something you would play with per se, but it is a fantastic learning instrument. My son and I put ours together rather easily, once I figured out just what the directions were trying to instruct me to do (no words, just a ton of numbers randomly strewn about). But, the dino is really, really cool, and realistic. My son has his assembled, standing on top of his book case. Sometimes he'll bring it down and make it "walk around & roar", but it's best as an educational tool. Well made, really like it & will purchase the other dinos.

Cheap Deluxe Mohs' Hardness Pick Set for Mineral Identification

This Mohs' harndess pick set is made by Mineral Lab. The picture looks much bigger than the real set itself. You can get it cheaper here at Amazon.com than from Mineral Lab. Postage is a little bit stiff for such a small set. Comes with four metal pens with two hardness picks on each end (i.e. 2 & 3; 4 & 5; 6 & 7; 8 & 9). The 2 & 3 and 8 & 9 are almost worthless since I use mostly the middle two. Not the easy things to use. You have to keep the pick sharp and then you really have to press down to test the stones. Also, the numbers on the picks are difficult to read. I kept getting confused the 4 with the 7. You can almost buy one set and make it into two sets by purchasing extra replacement points from Mineral Lab and then turning them into two sets. The customer service of Amateur Geologist was extremely helpful but that of Mineral Lab was not quite as friendly. Is it really worth the money? It is really hard to say. I think it should sell at around the $ 45 to % 50 range. Also, the sharpener comes with the kit is way too small. However, this is the only hardness pick set available in the States.

Since it's the only kind available I give it 5 stars. It's a simple tool that makes mineral ID much easier. Case in point: I used it in a college geology lab. We did 5 series of mineral ID based mostly on visual clues (mohs, color, streak, crystal, etc..) and NOT things like HCl or specific gravities. For me the mohs test pushed me in the right direction each time. The fist series of tests(before I purchased this kit) I used common objects to determine the hardness. It took me 2 hours to accurately ID about 25 minerals. The mohs being the biggest challenge.

I then purchased this kit and was able to ID the next few series of minerals much more accurately and quickly. I combination with an Optivisor loupe I could easily see and note hardness.

So yea ,it's pricey, but it's a good tool. Quality made to last for a long long time. The picks are ample and I ID about 100 minerals and only re-tipped the softest and those just barely.

In my opinion these are a very good value for the geologist minded student or pro.

A nice tool to help determine hardness of minerals. We often use knife and coins for rough hardness determination. Here is a way to get hardness of 2 to 9 in one easy package. Having the extra items of a streak plate and sharpening plate will allow the small picks to be used over and over again. The wooden box holding it together means everything is one place. Easy to find and not have to search for the tools in a drawer. Also comes with a nice list of 250 minerals and the range of their hardness. I did not know that Ice and Mica had the same Hardness range. 1.0 to 6.0 range. The chart is setup to list the hardness by Name or by Hardness. So you have two lists organized in a way to quickly find what you are looking for.

We hung this from the toy bar of our baby's play-mat-gym, and at first he was uninterested in it. However, once he was old enough to start grabbing and batting at things, he became utterly fascinated by the crinkly noises it makes when he grabs the points, and the jingling when he bats at it. The fluttery ribbons on the tips also seem to amuse him greatly.

This is an excellent baby-distractor for infants around 3 months, in the "ooh, I have arms and I can move them!" stage.

This toy reminds me of origami structures. It is very colourful, being made of different patterned fabric which have different textures. The little ribbons at every point is a great detail. Brightens up the pram. The plastic hook is very handy for hooking the toy on to the pram or even on the diaper bag so it doesn't take up previous real estate in the bag.
