Wonderworld Mini Toy School Bus Review
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $24.00
Sale Price: $21.71
Today's Bonus: 10% Off

This school bus is perfect in size for 1+ but with detail that will amuse a 3yr old. Great way for a home based toddler to grasp the concept that soon they will be going to schoolThis bus must be fetched by my daughter to sing "Wheels on the bus" daily (she is 15 months and has had this toy for 3 months). Also her little wood dolls like to ride on top ;) It is very well constructed and the size and weight is perfect for little hands. It rolls very well, and it will last through my rough and tumble toddler and beyond. I'm not sure the company makes this bus anymore? If you're thinking about this bus, buy it! I believe it's the best one out there and I am constantly on the look out for the best quality toys.

Discount Clapper Clacker Shaker Rattle Percussion Instrument- Animal Motif
My two year old adores her clapper clacker! The sound is relatively pleasant compared with others in her repertoire, the construction is solid and the carved animals quite charming.

Best Vtech Tote and Go Pink Laptop Deals
We bought this for our daughter about a year ago, and everyone in the house plays with it, her older and younger brothers both, and that means ages 2-5. It's held up beautifully, nothing wrong with it and it's been dragged all over the house (and car), fought over, and wrestled with and it's still going just fine.
As a plus, the mouse pad can either sit on a peg connected to the right side for easy travel stability, but for our left handed daughter, you just move it off the peg and move it on over. This is a huge plus for this system.
Other great features are: it's incredibly durable, you can switch mouse for use on either side and it has an automatic shutoff after about 3 minutes.
Only bad things about it are: it is loud even on lowest setting (as many reviewers have mentioned) and the screen is small (but I dare say there isn't one out there with a bigger screen for this price :-).
Seriously, if your child is 3 to 4 you won't regret buying it.
** And I also need to set AEH "Mom of Toddler" straight; the child does NOT need to know how to read in order to enjoy the computer. Child can scroll through and pick which application he/she wants to play with the monkey as his/her guide. **
Many people brought up the issue of the volume button and that isn't a problem for us. She knows it gets taken away if she pushes that button and that only Mommy can change the volume.
We use many other things to help with letter recognition but this is by far the most effective and just today we had a blast playing on the laptop!

I purchased this product for my daughter who is about to turn 2, and she already knows some of her letters! She loves it and packs it around with her everywhere!!! The only problem I had with it, and I guess it's not really not a "problem", probably just a parent thing!, but, even at it's lowest volume setting it's still pretty loud I don't know maybe it's just that monkey, oh that monkey! I like how it goes off by itself so the battery doesn't drain itself...very handy!!Best Deals for Vtech Tote and Go Pink Laptop
I bought this for my 3 year old niece, and she loved it. It was her favorite gift out of all of her birthday gifts! I think it might be just a little bit advanced for her age, but it is definitely something she can use for quite some time.Honest reviews on Vtech Tote and Go Pink Laptop
I can't say enough good things about this little computer! I'm gonna be very honest... it took me a while to buy it because (and I hate to say it now) but I just thought the thing looked cheesy (cheap)... But man was I wrong! We've had it a while now and my daughter still plays with it for extended periods. It really is a GREAT toy! It is very educational and helps with hand eye coordination -via its mouse training applications. I only regret having waited so long to buy it -recommend for kids 3 and 4.Other great features are: it's incredibly durable, you can switch mouse for use on either side and it has an automatic shutoff after about 3 minutes.

I bought this for my 3 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas 2008. I am homeschooling her and wanted a tool to help her recognize letters and numbers while having fun. So while she can't yet use many of the games I have to just rave that this is the best product that I've used that allows her to interact AND learn her numbers and letters. It also lets her pretend to be just like mommy while she "works on her computer".Many people brought up the issue of the volume button and that isn't a problem for us. She knows it gets taken away if she pushes that button and that only Mommy can change the volume.

LeapFrog Explorer Disney Pixar Monsters University Learning Game Review
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $24.99
Sale Price: $17.01
Today's Bonus: 32% Off

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I admit, neither my 4-year-old nor I have played any LeapFrog games before this one. I played plenty of video games in my youth, and spend perhaps too much time playing games on my phone these days, so i at least am not naive to the world of gaming.
A good game teaches you how to play, building up the pieces one at a time, then sets you loose. This game teaches you how to play, but builds up the pieces far too quickly.
There are a couple different components of this game. There's a collect-the-widgets part, where the characters are lead through very simple mazes to collect all of the pennants. This is a pretty simple concept, but builds slowly into greater complexity you have to avoid being seen by the bad guys, you can find bonus prizes, and so on. There are also locked doors, and to get the key you have to play a card game, like a memory game (matching cards in pairs) or a rule-out games (rule out cards based on features, like number of eyes or color of fur).
Here's the problem, though: the concept of lead-the-character-through-the-maze has only just been introduced when the match-the-cards-to-get-the-key part comes in. Especially for younger children, this is too much, too fast. If the game taught the maze part, then had a few simple mazes to practice, THEN brought in the memory game, it might work. This design, with all the game modes piled on top of each other, is just confusing. In addition, new functions are taught in the middle of the game. When spitballs are introduced to blow out candles, there's not a mini-tutorial before the game. No, instead the player will be halfway through a maze, land on a spitball, and the game will STOP for an explanation. This game was not designed with any sense of flow.
The flow of the game breaks all the time. If the character finds one of the monster cards, it stops the maze game for a splash screen of the card, reminding the gamer to go look at their card collection some time. Not now, of course, you're in the middle of a maze, so finish the maze, then... yeah.
There's a subgame of building your own monster then testings its ability to scare a child. This has nothing to do with the maze/memory game, except that you need to collect the cards from the mazes to make the scary monsters.
Worst yet, there are bugs in the game. When you come back to a maze from the card games to get a key, sometimes the bad guys are just randomly placed instead of on their little walking tracks. Sometimes the last card from the memory game tutorial stays on the board for the first run through the memory game, making it very confusing for a kid trying to learn it.
Would this be fine with older kids? Possibly. Would this work better for kids who've played a lot of LeapFrog games already? Probably. But i really question the assertion that this game is good for 4-year-olds. It's too busy interrupting itself in the early stages, teaching too many things at once instead of gradually building skills.
It's built on the same premise as a lot of other LeapPad games, that constantly interrupt the child's use of the product, endlessly blurting out instructions or suggestions that distract the child from what they're trying to do play and learn.
The only problem I have with the LeapPad 2 games is the constant need to connect to the internet through a computer. Considering the prices of the system and the games, it's frustrating to have to go online to access all the features for something that you've purchased. Now, granted, I received this particular game free through the Vine program, but we've purchased other LeapFrog games, and I can't stand having to go online to get everything that is supposed to be included with the game. (For example, you have to go online to download all of the features for the game LeapFrog I SPY Super Challenger.)
Nevertheless, I am really happy with the positive effect that these games have had on my son's critical thinking skills. He's learning problem solving in a variety of situations, but he thinks he's just having fun. :)
There's also a monster creator which lets kids create/customize their own monster and even use the LeapPad's built in camera to let kids take a photo of them self and put the photo on the monsters face. When we were playing with it, we thought it would be even cuter to take a photo of grandma's little black dog and use it for the monster's face instead.
While the game is about Monsters, it's not scary at all, just like the movie. It by no means has the smoothness or the graphics of games you'd find for the Nintendo DS, but the age range is perfectly suited for those who might still be a bit young for those games. Perfect for those in Kindergarten to first grade, I'd say. Any older and it probably won't be challenging enough for them. And it's a fun way for kids to play simple games with a education-based design.
1) It is extremely repetitive. The main part of the game is a series of easy mazes with obstacles and monsters to avoid and things to collect and use. One particular level might have 3 things to teach you (tools, strategies, etc.) but not only will it make you go through ten extremely similar mazes, and you don't ever HAVE to use any of the strategies or tools AT ALL.
2) It is not educational. The mazes are totally not challenging, even to my 3 year old. You don't need to use any of the strategies or tools the game suggests, so why bother? One of the small side games is a version of the classic game Guess Who. We love guess who and play it all the time. The Monster's U version takes all the thinking out of it. For example, one clue might be that the monster in question is blue. Great, so your kid learns process of elimination by turning over the other colors. Unfortunately the game immediately TELLS YOU to turn over the other monsters. Your kid does not have to turn on their brain and THINK at all. Just follow the instructions like a little robot. It makes me insane.
I was so worried that my kindergartener's Leapster 2 would be soon forgotten when our shiny new LeapPad 2 and Monster's U game arrived, but he finds the Monster's U game so boring that he sticks with his Leapster and it's excellent, fun, and challenging games. It breaks my heart to give a bad review to a Leapfrog product, but it seems like all the effort went into the flashy LeapPad and none of the effort went into the game :(
-------------------------------------------
Editing to add that we now have two of the LeapPad2 and have found tons of excellent games, challenging, educational, fun for the kids, on the LeapFrog website. The kids especially love the Roly Poly games, Solar Taxi, and Elements on the Loose. As a bonus when you download a game you can load it on up to three compatible LeapFrog devices.

Best Deals for LeapFrog Explorer Disney Pixar Monsters University Learning Game
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This Leap Frog Monsters University game is not just a single game, but a collection of several learning games in one. The goal is to learn all your scare skills and graduate from the Monster school. For each game there are several levels of difficulty, letting kids play how they want to, whether it's untimed, without opponents, etc. Once the child gets better at the games (such as memory, where they are flipping card over) they can then play with opponents who make the game more challenging. As your child plays through the mini-games, they collect items for their Monsters University "dorm room" to decorate it with. There's also a monster creator which lets kids create/customize their own monster and even use the LeapPad's built in camera to let kids take a photo of them self and put the photo on the monsters face. Honest reviews on LeapFrog Explorer Disney Pixar Monsters University Learning Game
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program We have two of the older LeapFrog Leapster 2 Learning Game System Green and 11 of the various cartridge games. I can honestly say we love each and every one of them. I had high expectations for the Monster's U game on the LeapPad, and unfortunately I am disappointed. The game has two problem areas for me.1) It is extremely repetitive. The main part of the game is a series of easy mazes with obstacles and monsters to avoid and things to collect and use. I got this for my daughter, who is almost 15 months; a bit under the recommended age, but we supervise her with everything. She LOVES this toy, and it makes us laugh. Three settings: acoustic, electric, and "howl", and boy, do we howl with laughter at the funny little songs it plays. It has a little bone-shaped whammy bar that plays a pre-recorded guitar bit. The strap has a velcro bit so you can open it (she was trying to put it around her neck, but I worried about her choking), and there are so many songs, not just the funny little dog parody songs, but instrumental ditties using acoustic, electric, and howl. True, it takes some effort to use the little strumming bit; it's not sensitive or intuitive. She's not interested in that part, though, and I tried it out at the store before I bought it, so I knew what we were getting into. It was a big hit. Sometimes we adults parents, grandparents, and uncles all play with it when she's sleeping. It's well-built, solid, super cute, and funny. Volume control, too, plus, if you bop him on the nose, he shuts up. :)
The song parodies it does might teach your kids different words to common songs, like "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" is "Yip yip, bark bark, bow-wow-wow, how I wish dogs just me-owed, what a racket all night long...", "Fancy Poodle" for "Yankee Doodle", etc. I don't care, but some folks might. I think it's cute.
He does whimper sadly if you ignore him, though. Just once, then he stops.
There are several different ways to play this guitar. It has three modes: acoustic, electric and "woof." All are great. Kids can strum chord progressions, and play different notes on the scale (along the dog's back). The bone plays fun riffs, too.
The lyrics to the songs are hilarious (a song book comes with the guitar so you can sing along). The melodies are familiar and cover lots of different genres. There's even a song that sounds like a kid's version of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven."
I haven't even scratched the surface in this review -just buy this guitar. You'll LOVE it! (oh yeah, and your kid will love it, too)

We have owned this toy for 2 years and our children have enjoyed it. HOWEVER, the neck strap is very dangerous. My daughter was playing with it yesterday and twisted the guitar too many times. By the time I saw her, her entire face was dark red and she was terrified. I can't stand to think about what would have happened if I hadn't seen her in time. She could not get it untwisted. When it twists in this manner, the Velcro release strap is impossible to get to. We have contacted the company and they were not concerned in the least. I have cut the strap off of my guitar but will not be buying any more toys of this brand unless they issue a recall.Honest reviews on B. Woofer Guitar

Motor runs well on 1.5V D Cell , but instructions specify 4-6 VDC. Note the photo in Amazon is totally wrong than properly constructed view. The brushes pictured at each end are backwards, you flip them to a narrow opening to come in contact with commutator. The motor also came with two magnets on each pole, not three as pictured. The two magnets per pole provide a good enough magnetic field, even though it leaves a larger than normal gap from armature. Would be interesting to see it run with three on each side.

LeapFrog LeapPad Ultra eBook: Cinderella Review
I bought this for my 4 year old daughter to use with her LeapPad 2. She loves watching the story and enjoys the interaction that goes along with it. Some parts seem a little advanced for her but I'm sure she will be able to grow with it. Lots of fun for her, she loves it.

Best Thunder Maker Spring Drum Deals
This little cylinder has quite the special effects. It's beautiful and fun to use, but also carries with it a certain kind of power -or maybe that's just the kid in me remembering experiences with thunder and feeling my guts tingle. It makes you feel that when you use this simple device, you are actually conversing with the Thunder Gods and soon, very soon, it will be raining and booming.

Very poor quality sound, not much volume either. Very much overpriced. Would not buy another one at any price. Period.Best Deals for Thunder Maker Spring Drum
This little cylinder just amazes everyone. They pick it up and wiggle it and this HUGE rumble comes out of the cardboard tube. It's like "the mouse that roared". I keep it on a shelf in the living room and people of all ages just get a kick of playing with it. I'm 70 years old and my 5 year old grand-daughter and I enjoy giving it a shake now and thenjust for kicks. My son is a song writer and he has used it for an interesting background effect on a recent music recording. No home is complete without oneespecially if you have a sense of fun and play.Honest reviews on Thunder Maker Spring Drum
Was looking for a different musical gift for my nephews...received this in the mail and did not want to give it away. What a different type of instrument..if you call it that. It makes awesome sounds for such a simple contraption. Speedy service. Thank youThursday, July 24, 2014

The packaging and paperwork had nothing to make me believe that this was actually an Elenco 9830 so it's probably a knock off. Also it was below the wholesale price of the Elenco unit (I have distributor pricing access). But they did ship the product and it arrived promptly. I haven't gotten around to checking it electrically yet.
I recommend this product if you're looking for a simple board, yet large enough to handle medium size projects, get one of these, or get a couple and they will lock together.

I like this breadboard. And I just pulled the sticker off the back because it was pointless. However, a copper wire's tip broke off inside the breadboard and I can't get it out.Best Deals for 9830 Breadboard-Prototype Design Aid
Nothing special about it. Works great. No problems. The backing that holds it together is not adhesive on the bottom, like some breadboards are -it just holds it together, nothing else. Sometimes, the power supply rails start to wiggle their way out if I'm holding it awkwardly rather than using the breadboard on the table or something, but it's not too bad.Honest reviews on 9830 Breadboard-Prototype Design Aid
I bought 5 of these boards. They are great. Great price, and they are attachable. For example, you can take off the supply rails and attach them both at one side. Or, what I like to do, you can take two boards and interlock them together. I like how you can do this.I recommend this product if you're looking for a simple board, yet large enough to handle medium size projects, get one of these, or get a couple and they will lock together.

This breadboard isn't the best construction. The price is great but it is held together by a crappy paper backer-board and I wouldn't count on it for long-term use.Friday, July 11, 2014
Reviews of Guidecraft Stacking Rainbow Pyramid
We just love these on our light table. The kids will stack them and see what new color they "made." They use them in a lot of different ways and they seem really durable. I look forward to enjoying them for a long time.In baby-proofing our home, we cleared all surfaces of anything we didn't want broken and things we didn't want our 13 month old son handling. That left us with a pretty barren living room! I wanted some beautiful items he could play with that we would also enjoy seeing if we simply left them out as decor. This was such an affordable option and goes great in our mid-century modern home. No more chasing our son around saying, "no....no... no...." Perfect!
