I bought this toy for my baby when she was about 5 months old. She learned very quickly that she could use it as a drum or shaker to make noise. These drums are fun for all ages. My toddler and my infant son fight over this constantly. They love to bang on and shake it. I will say this is very durable, as many times as I have to yell "Don't step on the drum" lol its held it's own in our house. I even catch my husband playing it. I would highly recommend this for your music set or just for fun.

I can confirm the notes are perfectly tuned. The yellow plastic mallets are too long and flexible, but not breakable. Hardwood mallets give a nicer strike and a better sound if you don't strike correctly with the plastic mallets. These hard plastic mallets are a little "soft" which does not bounce off perfectly. I'm being picky. Stay away from other children bell sets that do not have very rectangular bars with sharp edges: the rounded edges give undesirable harmonics. These are perfectly square at the edges. The notes are high-pitched and loud, like the one 4-star reviewer wrote. You can use the handles instead of heads of the mallets to get a much softer sound for practicing. My wife: "Did you buy that for our child or yourself??" and "You're hurting my ears!" High pitched and loud. It is a bell set, after all. Opening it takes a little effort and concentration to press the button correctly. Our 1.5 year old is not able to open it. As long as it doesn't break and stays closed when it is supposed to, the little extra hassle of opening it is OK. The snap design appears like it is not ever going to break. The low C measured 1047 which is perfectly two octaves above middle C. The first note is a G that is 1 octave above middle G, and the last note is a G that is 3 octaves above middle G. So your basic C to C playing is 2 and 3 octaves above middle C. I'll try to record a "video review" that includes the notes, G to G.

This is an amazing deal, and a fun product to introduce children to music with. The mallets it came with are one piece (no choking hazard from the ball coming off the end) and the unit sounds great. It is the best "bell set" (glockenspeil) we have found for kids, and adults, at anywhere near the price point. Recommend, A+.

The LMI Glockenspiel (Bells set) is made in Korea, and is a real bargain. The glockenspiel is two octaves chromatic, from G-G. The steel bars are silver-plated for a shiny, reflective appearance.

I'm a pro percussionist and pro percussion teacher. I bought an LMI Glockenspiel for a trial, and then bought 6 more. The price was so low ($15) for a set of bells with a hard plastic case, that I wanted more. I gave them as drawing prizes at a student percussion contest.

The glock is very portable, and is light weight, considering that it has steel bars. Most bells sets in the $150-$500 range have aluminum bars. Aluminum bars are OK for a bells set, but steel gives a greater projection, and steel bars "cut through" an entire orchestra.

This is a table-top bells set. You open it up, the top of the case becomes a music stand, and the bells set has feet to set it above the table, for better projection.

A pair of flexible shaft bell mallets, made of hard plastic, are included with the set, and they store easily inside the case.

This is an excellent sounding set of bells, at a very low price. I recommend it for new bells students on a tight budget. I use the LMI Glock when traveling, for practice, and also for teaching in a small room, at a music instrument retail store. I only wish it had 2.5 octaves range.

We ordered this a couple years ago for a young son. It is a fantastic instrument! I was so surprised at the quality. SO, his brother is getting his own for Christmas this year! We use this in several musical numbers our family does together. While one might play a part on the piano, guitar, harp, flute, violin... the little ones can usually pick up a simple phrase on the glockenspeil as an addition to the whole. It adds a nice touch. Obviously, it has to be pitched well to join in all the other tuned instruments. My actions speak louder than my words... I'm ordering another one!

I used this Halloween, of course, and it works well. I use it every year. FX is a decent product. It stayed on all night. Make sure to paint the whole tooth to include the top of your teeth. I recommend. Easy to take off. Take rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and brush on. Brush your teeth. All clean.

Eastern Birds, National Audubon Society N.Am.Guide Review

I have nearly all of these books in my library. I started collecting them in the late 1980's and have made a purchase this day for one more. While Audubon has a direct replacement of the bird books as an Android app, (and possibly iPad as well), nothing can replace the feel of a book in hand.

I am a small person with small hands and I needed a small inexpensive guitar that wasn't a "toy". I read the reviews of the mahogany finish model of this guitar and many professionals carry this guitar for travel. I can see why. This easy to play, lightweight guitar packs A LOT of rich true tones. I was happy with the construction and smooth feel of the frets. I switched up the strings which was much needed and can't be happier! I highly recommend this guitar as an inexpensive but serious guitar for children, small people, and anyone who needs a good sounding travel guitar that you don't have to worry about.

Just did a set up on this guitar for a friend who bought it for his kid's Xmas gift.

A string broke the minute she started playing with it. While that's not a big deal, when he brought it to me, I found the bridge pins where incredibly wedged in to the guitar. So much so that when removing (with a bridge pin tool) the top of one just popped off, and I was being pretty gentle, but now i'm replacing them all)

Finally, when I replaced the string and tuned it up, I found it was fretting out at the 3rd fret, looking closely you could see the 4th fret wasn't set correctly and was raised slightly at the b and e strings. It seemed as if it was clipped incorrectly and sat slightly over the neck. Impossible to fix without refretting/clamping and glueing/filing. It wouldn't be much of an issue from the get go if it fret out at a high fret, since most kids don't do virtuoso style playing, but it was at the 3rd fret, which is something that a few basic chords require to play correctly. Especially when learning.

There was a very strong glue smell to the guitar, as well. Plus a heavy "coated" feeling to the paint job. All of this made me believe that the guitar is just a mass produced guitar, with very little to no quality control.

Amazingly though, the intonation was pretty spot on. Which kinda blew my mind, and makes me a little surprised at the other issues. It's possible the QA people only focus on that.

It's probably a fine guitar for travel, and the perfect size for young kids, plus it's purty. Just beware that you may need to consider taking it to a reputable guitar tech or music store to take care of any "issues" that may pop up.

When my mom gave this as a 1st bday gift to my son I was dubious as to how much he would like it and how long I'd be able to stand the noise. Happily I was pleasantly surprised with both his reaction to the toy and my ability to listen to it over and over again. The tone is low and therefor very easy to "tune out" when he repeatedly hits the same button. He loves the animal noises and the child's voice that sings "Old MacDonald". It's been 5 months and this toy has become a favorite to take along in the car, to playdates, and to wake up with in the crib providing mommy and daddy with a bit of a morning sleep in. I highly recommend this as a baby gift.

My son found out about this game at school and pestered me endlessly to get it for him. Over the months since then he's played it so much that his ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply in his head has become pretty amazing. Granted he did like math to begin with which probably helps a lot but this game has really helped to bring his grade up. Amazing what you can get away with when you call it a game instead of educational. There are three levels of cards from fairly easy to pretty hard so it isn't too hard to get a child started on it.

Works perfectly, as advertised. It's on the expensive side compared to, for example, the Summit Backyard Safari Bug Vacuum for around $14. That one comes with batteries, but read the reviews, the batteries are cheap and often worn down, giving the impression it doesn't work well. I ordered that one first. It was good when it worked, but the battery door screw was stripped to begin with (new product) and the batteries seated poorly. This one feel much better built, and the battery screw and compartment are much more robust. The Summit one is shaped like a gun; hold the handle and pull the trigger. But that leads to what I suspect makes many users think the vacuum is too weak. Yes, the vacuum on any bug toy is weak so it doesn't damage the bugs. This means it can't suck very well STRAIGHT UP. With the Summit, the temptation is to hold it vertically over the bug, and that just isn't effective. With the Uncle Milton, the end of the sucker is cut at an angle, encouraging one to hold it at just a little over horizontal. This works wonders for the vacuum of both units, although this one works even better since it is cut on an angle.

At first it seemed it would be clumsy, without the Summit's pistol grip. But again, this encourages one to not try to suck straight up. The battery compartment has a flat bottom, and this makes it very convenient to set on a floor or table for observation of the bugs. It has both an on-off switch and a push button. Seemed like this might be extraneous, but it's a good feature. The push button is used for on/off during a bugging session. Then, the unit can be turned off with a slide switch so if it's put in luggage or a toy chest etc. it won't accidentally come on.

What a relief to find this one well constructed, after I spent almost an hour trying to make the Summit battery connections work reliably.

I'm not actually using this as a toy but as a bug catcher. It works great! I can catch a bug in the little basket and then release it outside. Much easier and cleaner than removing squashed bug off a wall.

I purchased this item as I was tired of trying to catch flies that got into our home. They would drive me nuts bouncing off the windows and I did not like killing them. Plus killing them would leave a mess on the walls and windows. The biggest reason is that it would drive me nuts trying to capture them. It would take 10 minutes or more just to catch one fly and let him go. Now...... it only takes 2 seconds and I have them! Open the canister and let them go outside. We also have caught several spiders on the walls and ceilings which can be really difficult to catch as we all know. Again... 2 seconds later and we are letting them go outside. Perfect addition to ALL households! I cant imagine life without this now.

This is educational and cute. It teaches shape sorting as well as foods, counting, and greetings. It also sings. There really isn't anything wrong with the toy. The only reason it got 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is that it's kind of expensive for what you get, which is basically a musical shape sorter. There are so many toys like this out there that you might not want or need to pay the price for this one.

Leapfrog makes a picnic basket toy that offers way more for your money. It comes with 2 cups, plates, and forks so children can play with it together but still offers the shape sorting and other educational things. It is also bigger and has less annoying music. That is the one I prefer.

Both of my kids love this toy. My two year old got it for her first Christmas and my second child just discovered it and also loves it. I love that it has both the play and the sleep modes and that it is noise activated to help lull the kids back to sleep. I only have one complaint-it goes though all the quiet and soothing and just when your child relaxes it says "Bye-Bye" quite loudly. What's the point in being quiet and relaxing if it's just going to wake them back up for you? Other than that it is a wonderful toy.

I bought this bee after watching my three month old play with it at my sisters and immediately taking to it. She LOVES her bee and she quickly learned how to push the button in the middle. The bee plays music and has a voice of a little girl which mesmerizes my little one. It has a day and night mode. The night mode is great to calm my daughter down. She does a pretty good job of holding onto it in her bouncy chair. She loves to chew on her antenna and she quickly learned to reach for the bee. It is the first thing she ever reached for big milestone. I would definitely recommend this bee as a first toy.

My 5 month old is still too little to push the buttons or to really benefit from it educationally, but it is really helping with sleep training. We keep it switched to night mode in her crib at night and when she cries it automatically comes on and plays soothing music which really helps her fall back asleep. I was really concerned because after it plays a few minutes of soothing music it says "Bye-bye!" loudly before turning off! What a poor design! Thankfully it doesn't seem to bother her! It seems like it will be a nice educational/play toy as she gets older. It does interest her a bit at this age and she likes chewing on the wings or crinkling them with her hand.
