I bought these for my 5 and 6 year old kids. They want to bring them everywhere. It is educational and fun. If they don't know an answer, they will ask. Sometimes I hear them asking each other if they know the answers.

My son wanted to play it in the car while it was dark but couldn't see the screen. Other than that, I'm impressed with it. Yet another great educational item from LeapFrog!

I am happy with this purchase. I feel it is good for early walkers. My son used this when first walking at 11 months on hardwood floors and did great. He loved the bucket to put toys in. We now have it in the ride-on form and at 16 months he is not quite tall enough, but he still loves pushing it around and putting things in the bin. I like that it steers.

I do want to note that while the description states it is made of solid wood, and some parts might be solid wood, most of it is plywood. I deem it quality plywood, but let it be known.

The assembly was a bit challenging, especially curving the part of the bucket, thankfully that only needs to be done once and the conversions are relatively simple. I did end up adding extra washers to the handlebars to make a tighter fit.

Update: My 2 1/2 year old plays with the ride-on everyday. He is very rough with it, tips it over and jumps on it, runs it into things, throws heavy wood blocks in the bucket, etc. and it has held up fabulously. I highly recommend this wonderful toy!

This is a great product for a child that needs a sturdy walker. Our daughter has developmental delays and she didn't walk until she started using this (at 17 months old). The only problem with it is that it is hard for her to turn it, so she gets frustrated when she tries to use it like a doll stroller. She can turn is, but it takes some work for her to do so.

Best Deals for 1-2-3 Grow With Me Wooden Walker/Ride-on Toy/Trolley

The toy looked like a great buy for the money being that it converts into 3 different things. Here's the problem we've had. The nuts that screw onto the wheels constantly need to be tightened (they are small and pose a choking risk). Also, the nuts and bolts that hold the handle bar together do not stay tightened, so we always seem to be tightening those too. And, the flexible plywood that makes the basket also constantly falls away from the side wall panel grooves. The kids do enjoy playing with it (when it's not falling apart). I would give this product a much higher rating, if it stayed together ALL the time.

Honest reviews on 1-2-3 Grow With Me Wooden Walker/Ride-on Toy/Trolley

We bought this for our twin grandchildren who just turned one. They loved it so much that we bought another so they wouldn't fight . It is extremely well-made and will not tip. We know this because the twins love to climb inside and before we bought the second, one child would climb on top of the other one. Big brother enjoys pushing these carts around the house as well. The only minor drawback is installing the curved bottom which really requires two people. I see these as lasting many years.

...for a non-tip cart for our early walker!

We purchased this for our 1 year old, as she loves to walk around the house and pick up her toys. This cart is perfect for her to put her "trinkets" in, and we love, love, love that it is sturdy and doesn't tip over when she pushes down on the handle (like others we tried before. We can't speak for the other uses, but I imagine she will love it just as much.

My husband had no problem putting it together, but said the directions weren't all that helpful.

My only complaint is that the cart is fairly large and therefore heavy for her to turn as she moves about the house.

I bought this puzzle for my almost 4 y.o. son. He is very interested in geography, and loves puzzles. This puzzle is a little hard for him right now, so I always do it with him. It seems to be pretty durable, and quite a few pieces are shaped like countries (not all of them). I only gave it 3 stars because it's completely missing Antarctica and Arctic Ocean. This was surprising to me.

A great product! I have all the Geopuzzles, and find them fun and educational not only for my grandchildren (and the children and grandchildren of my friends, for whom I buy the puzzles as gifts), but also for me and my friends. It's amazing how much we've forgotten--or never knew--about world geography, and the tangible, colorful, FUN refresher provided by working one of these puzzles is a blast. The new world puzzle is a treat because you can view everything at once, and many of the larger countries have their own pieces. Like the other continent Geopuzzles, this one increases our knowledge of where countries are located vis-a-vis their neighbors, and provides a basis for better understanding of the historical relationships among them.

This and the other GeoPuzzle maps (of the continents) is a wonderful way to introduce maps and geography to grade-school children. I homeschool and my children are picking up the names and placement of the countries in the world. A great manipulative tool.

Honest reviews on GeoPuzzle World - Educational Geography Jigsaw Puzzle (68 pcs)

We just got the World puzzle and already have the other ones. These puzzles are a great teaching tool for all ages. Pieces are shaped like each country (and yes, some countries are way too small to be individual pieces so they're part of other countries...do we really need pea-sized puzzle pieces?), capitals are easy to read and oceans are clearly marked. I really like this company.

This is the best world puzzle we have found so far. My kids love map puzzles and we were trying to find a good map of the world puzzle. My kids love it, I wish that the puzzle itself was a little larger. It was smaller than I was expecting (I didn't review the dimensions before I purchased just the number of pieces). But my kids love it. We also have the Europe puzzle by the same company.

I got this for my then 1 year old son and he's still playing it now at almost 3. All the kids I babysit love it as well and it's easy to flip over themselves.

Bought this for my 18-month old twins. Put the table together...legs do not attach well and are easily removed. We have had to remove them permanently and the twins play with the musical part by itself. Obviously, we can't flip to the building part because the legs will not stay on. I was disappointed with the structural part of this, but impressed with the overall "learning" part.

Best Deals for Chicco: Flip 'N Play Smart Table

This toy was purchased for my son when he was just 5 months old. The top was placed on the floor (without the base) where he loved to push the buttons and watch it light up and play music. As he started to pull up to stand we put the top on the base and he loved the achievement of pulling up and finding his familiar light up toy. Now that he is 16 months old he is constantly hiding things in the cubby-hole where the blocks store and flipping the top over to build. A previous poster stated the legs come off, I had to get up and go look at the toy thinking they had posted a review for the wrong toy... Our table/toy has been so sturdy I had forgotten the legs were separate. We have not experienced this issue at all. We find it to be a stable sturdy and fun toy.

Honest reviews on Chicco: Flip 'N Play Smart Table

We purchased this just before our son's first birthday a year ago, and he still loves it! The variety of activities is great, and everything is very durable. Lots of unique features we couldn't find on toys in the stores in our area.

I love this table first because it is lower to the ground than the other tables and second because you can take the top off and set it on the ground if you choose to. I have twins and my sister purchased us two other tables not knowing we had this one and this table is by far the best. The babies play with this all the time because it is easier to get to and pull up on. They can even reach it on thier knees. Also the tables's interactive parts are more entertaining and practical.

Best Chronicle Books Eric Carle Animal Flash Cards Deals

Chronicle Books Eric Carle Animal Flash Cards
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

Our 16-month old received these cards as a gift, and we LOVE them. If you are an Eric Carle fan, these are especially wonderful. They reinforce "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," "Brown Bear, Brown Bear," "Panda Bear, Panda Bear," etc. She truly has a grasp of A, B, Cs and is on the way to developing color skills. She has memorized many of the cards, like Giraffe, Narwhal and Peacock, and stardards like Duck, Hippo and Monkey. Only downside is that she asks for them constantly, when she wakes up in the morning "flash cards" is the first thing out of her mouth.

I never review products, but I had to make a special case for this one. These ABC flash cards are thicker than the pages on a board book, so my one-year-old can't be rough enough with them. With a letter on one side and pictures on the other (and a very sturdy box to hold them all), these cards have been her favorite learning tool. Better than any book, because she enjoyed taking them out of the box and trying to put them back in. And she tries to stack them like Mommy! She can tell me what a monkey says, show me the horns on a buffalo, and the tusks on a walrus. These are great ... you can't go wrong.

Best Deals for Chronicle Books Eric Carle Animal Flash Cards

My 2 year old loved these SO much, he had them memorized after the 5th time I pulled them out! Best of all, he now points out (correctly) the letters he sees all around him everyday (so, great translation from the cute and colorful cards I had worried about whether he would correctly associate the 'colorful' letters to the 'plain' letters, in a book) - Boy, that was painless!!! Thank you Eric Carle ~ my son just got his reading foundation, and ENJOYED it too!

This is saying alot, for my whirlwind of a son ;-) -for instance, his preference for reading books/looking at these cards, is that we are actively moving at the SAME time!!!-we may be both standing on our heads -or building Lego towers -or throwing a ball -Because of his learning style, I feel the added interest of the colors was a help in gaining/retaining his attention. He comments on the colors, and asks if the letters are 'swimming' (some of the watercolors have a lovely 'water/wave-like' appearance!). The colors also aided in providing initial distinction between similar-in-appearance letters (capital E and B, or, Q and O --for instance). With a couple times of practice, he was able to easily distinguish the differences (without the color aid), but this was a helpful 'beginning' boost for us.

My daughter also learned the alphabet with these cards, and still loves them, because of the beautifully portrayed animals! (She, thankfully, did not learn them standing on her head bottom in mid-air -she learned them cuddling in bed with mommy --gee, you have to love girls! ;-) -but my son is the best weight-loss program EVER! ;-)

ps PLEASE do not forget to enjoy the adorable (and sometimes, exotic) animals on the back! (I will never forget when my daughter told her Grandma about a 'Quetzel bird' -and Grandma thought she was making it up! ;-) -my one criticism of the animals is the 'Giraffe', I wish it had been 'Gorilla' perhaps, since I like to teach that 'G' sound first . . . but this is a pretty minor complaint -and the Giraffe is too cute anyway!

Honest reviews on Chronicle Books Eric Carle Animal Flash Cards

This is a great flash card set. I use it while my daughter eats dinner, and every time we get near the high chair, she immediately points at the flash cards. I think it's nice that some of the animals aren't the 'typical' you'd think of for the letter (like, flamingo instead of frog). I've listed the cards below.

A: alligator; B: buffalo; C: caterpillar; D: duck; E: elephant; F: flamingo (even though there is a picture of a frog on the box); G: giraffe; H: hippo; I: iguana; J: jellyfish; K: kangaroo; L: lion; M: monkey; N: narwhal; O: octopus; P: peacock; Q: quetzal; R: rhinoceros; S: snake; T: turtle; U: urchins; V: vulture; W: walrus; X: xolo (xoloitzcuintli, Mexican hairless dog); Y: yak; Z: zebra.

The reasons I gave this a 4 star and not 5 star. First, X is for xolo, which I can't pronounce, and comes with an explanation. If an explanation is needed, I don't think it was a good choice. X-ray fish could have been used as an alternative. Second, the letters are in a sans serif font. So, the capital letter 'I' looks like a lower case 'L'. I think the font is fine generally, but they should have adjusted the 'I' specifically.

Those are minor complaints, overall I think this is a great set.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Chronicle Books Eric Carle Animal Flash Cards

These cards come in a nice flip top box which is sturdy enough for toddler hands to open. It's a little difficult to get the cards out, though. You kind of have to dump them all out at once. The cards themselves are on really nice, heavy board with a matte finish. The colors are vibrant, and of course, the Eric Carle art is lovely. My infant likes to look at them while I flip through the cards and talk about the animals, and a visiting 1yr old enjoyed looking at them himself. He scattered them on the floor and we made a game of having him find the animal and bringing us the right card. Since he had to flip over any cards that were laying on the alphabet side, the game took a while, but he never got tired of it. The cards withstood the throwing, dumping, grabbing and bending of the whole game and still look like new, so I think they will stand up to almost anything!

Overall, a beautiful and study productthis is a real deal for the price.

My daughter is in kindergarten and her teacher uses these pointers. These were my daughters #1 request for her birthday. There is nothing special about their construction, but they seem to be able to hold up to child's play. Although they have no educational value themselves, they encourage kids to pretend they are teaching. My daughter loves these pointers, and I enjoy sitting through her lessons on letters and numbers.

I purchased one of these at my school's book fair several years ago. I was looking for a tool that would help students to use the Smartboard interactive white board. Sometimes students cannot reach the upper part of the board, making it impossible to activate the pull down windows. Also, I wanted to be able to use the board without standing in front of it or creating an obstruction (me)for students sitting to the right or left.

This works perfectly!! Students love using it and feel in control when they have the pointer. It's a great motivator when you hand it to a student and give him/her the chance to 'strut their stuff' in front of the class. I keep it atop the white board so it will always be available. It's an inexpensive, but unique way of keeping students engaged

Best Deals for Learning Resources Hand Pointers, Set of 3

It is a very fun way to help emergent readers follow along what you are reading to them. Also, the rule for using the pointers is that they can only use it to read; and you can belive me when I say that they love using the pointer and at the same time you make reading fun for them.

Honest reviews on Learning Resources Hand Pointers, Set of 3

My son was so excited about the pointers. Doing homework is more fun now. And the price was reasonable too.

These are high quality and a great tool for the classroom. We use them on a daily basis and my students absolutely love them. They are just the right length for students to easily maneuver and use to track print on the walls around the class. They are not the cheap imitation pointers that you sometimes see, they will easily last for many school years to come. I will definitely be buying more of these, and will be recommending to teacher friends.

When I saw this toy at the toystore, I myself was fascinated by it. So, I knew my then-9-month-old would too. He has had this toy for two months and plays with it everyday. He can really get caught up in it, turning it around. If he gets fussy, I will bring it over and mesmerize him with the spinny wheel. We also like to run the shapes along the maze, and slide the abacus around. It's a really cool toy that doesn't have any lights or music BONUS! It seems really sturdy the thing takes a lot of abuse, even has been used to support his full weight (Okay, that's only 18 pounds).

Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

We bought this at a toy store nearby b/c my baby was mesmerized by the lights on the screen. She's fascinated with the real laptops we have at home and we thought this might be an entertaining toy. She was about 7-8 months at that time and even though the minimum recommended age for this toy starts at 6 months, she really wasn't all that interactive with the laptop at the beginning. She did like to close the top down a lot and as other reviewers have mentioned, she also snapped her fingers in the process a couple of times but she didn't cry too much about the ouchies and it didn't deter her from continuing to play with the laptop.

Now at 10 months, she can be much more engaged and the laptop can usually keep her interest for a good 8 minutes -just enough time for us to scarf down our meal at the table while we all sit down together. This video shows her at the dining table in her highchair. She likes to bash the keys and watch the lights come on while listening to the music. There are 3 modes to the laptop but we usually leave it at the music mode -unless she decides to explore the switch on the side -the other 2 modes are probably more appropriate for older toddlers who are learning shapes, feelings and common objects/sounds. Will they really learn what the laptop is supposedly teaching? I'm not sure but I do love that the volume options aren't too loud, the keys/mouse are easy to manipulate and this is one durable laptop that has survived many, many, MANY falls to the floor from the highchair!!

My 7 month old loves this toy. Can play for hours. The only thing they dont mention is that they can close their little fingers and hands in it. We tested it and it does hurt quite a bit when you push down on it. Which my daughter did within 5 mins of first playing with it, but has not done so since.

Best Deals for VTech - Baby's Learning Laptop - Pink

this computer is great for teaching young children. Easy to handle and the mouse is adorable. I also like the color feature, pink for little girls.

Honest reviews on VTech - Baby's Learning Laptop - Pink

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my then 9 month old daughter. She loved it instantly. Only problem is that my daughter does like to close the top because it seems so fun to her to do. But, she closes it with her other hand holding the bottom down for balance and easily smashes her little fingers. Very painful! My daughter doesn't cry about much, but she definitely cried real tears when her little fingers got smashed! I saw another review about this same problem before purchasing, but didn't think much of it. It's happened more than once and 3 months later my daughter still plays with it, but definitely doesn't have the same interest as she originally did. Overall I think it's an adorable concept and it is entertaining...but would be even better if they would fix it so that babies can't close it themselves.

Review of Leapfrog Tag Reading System Set + 12 Books Short and Long Vowels

Leapfrog Tag Reading System Set + 12 Books Short and Long Vowels - Learn to Read
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I really thought my kids, a preschooler and Kindergartener, would be thrilled with this set of a Leapfrog Tag Reader pen and books for Christmas. They're both learning letters and sounds at school and are beginning to read. However, they never ask for this toy and lose interest pretty quickly when using it. As far as I can tell, its only use is to substitute interactive reading with your child with a mechanical device. (Unless you have a super reluctant reader, a child with a near aversion to books; in that case, the extra sound effects and such might make that child enjoy books more).

The set up was easy--just plug it in with the included USB cable, go to the website, and choose the books from their list to transfer onto the pen. It takes a few minutes, but it's easy and not excessively time consuming (although browsing the books is a bit harder than it should be--if you search for a specific title, it brings up tons of books that aren't that title and don't even share any words from the title. I have no idea why.)

The trouble for me comes from the fact that the main options for using the Tag pen are either to push the book symbol--which reads each page aloud--or to push on each word--then it will read that word. There isn't a good function for sounding out the words. If you choose the sounding out function, it says the sounds but then immedately says the whole word, not allowing the child a chance to piece the sounds together themselves. Considering that this is how early reading is done (i.e. "b-a-t...bat!") it takes the entire learning process away from the child. I wish it would just say the sounds and then allow the child to figure the word out. The only redeeming part of these books is the little activities they have at the end of each book that help with reading comprehension or help the kids practice idenfiying sounds that the book focused on. My kids do like these parts and I do feel they are helpful, but they make up such a small part of the whole experience.

My final complaint is that I don't think the books are terribly interesting stories. I wish they'd have traditional folk tales and fairy tales (The 3 Bears, 3 Little Pigs, etc.), but instead there are only animated movies made to book form (Toy Story, Little Mermaid, etc.) and boring ones with little plot made up by the Leapfrog people.

Overall, I think this is just an expensive way to avoid reading to your kids and helping them learn. I feel like they get a lot more learning out of me reading to them and having them sound out words, identify letters, or tell me sounds as we go. My kids really don't care for this toy, other than to touch all the items in the picture to see what sound effect they make. Of all the things I bought for Christmas, I thought they'd like this the best, but they like it the least. Too bad.

We like this toy. It works and is non-electronic. We like that it doesn't talk or play music. Not everything in the house needs to do that. It is a little hard at first if you have bought it a little early for them to be able to grasp the concept of sliding the credit card. They may need a little help. And putting the coins in flat is also a little difficult and that you have to slide the card, then pull the handle. Little ones may not understand the order. We may like this more when she is a little older but right now she just gets mad if she cant get it to work. We don't regret the purchase though. Just when we purchased it.

I've been looking for a cash register for my almost 2 year old daughter for a while, partially because I loved playing with them as a kid too. I went with this one since ToysRUs always seemed to be sold out of the one I liked. I was concerned about some of the coins being choking hazards mentioned in another review. My daughter usually doesn't put things in her mouth but after a few weeks of having this toy I did see her putting the small ones in her mouth so aside from having to watch her carefully when playing with this, the toy fits our needs for now. Some of the plastic doesn't seem very sturdy and my daughter hasn't dropped it yet but overall the toy has held up. Is it a perfect toy? No but is it the worst? Definitely not.

The coins jam in the back of this thing. It's a pain to try to get them out and I'm sure there is a much better comparable product out there.

Honest reviews on Little Tikes Count 'n Play Cash Register

We bought our daughter this cash register for her 2nd birthday. She spends hours putting the coins down the slots, we say the colors, she swipes the card and points out numbers. She spends hours playing with this toy...BUT.....she get's VERY agitated as do we, when the coins constantly get jammed in the back. After putting them in slot on top they are supposed to slide down into the coin return, but if you put multiple coins down consecutively, they get jammed in the back, and are somewhat hard to take out. She puts the coins in her mouth and I am somewhat concerned about the size of the orange and purple ones. All in all, it's worth the price...it keeps her attention for long periods of time. They just need to re-design the back coin return, and make the coins bigger for the safety of the smaller kids.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Little Tikes Count 'n Play Cash Register

This cash register is too sophisticated for a baby (the coins are apparently super appetizing, but aren't small enough to be safely consumed or big enough to just nosh on, and the handle that releases the drawer is still too stiff for my now-toddler to trigger without upsetting the balance of the whole thing) and too babyish for a three year-old (lack of real credit card sliding feel, etc.). Not my favorite toy.
