I had been eyeing this toy for months and finally decided to buy it for my 10 months old. When I received it the stem that holds the squares on was loose.... very loose. My kids aren't too impressed with it and I wasn't impressed with the flashlight. It's not a true flashlight, it just flickers a 3 light color for about 15 seconds and shuts off, and it isn't very bright. It's very durable though, I am impressed. Both my children LOVE the tumble top though. When my littlest one was 3-7 mos he would sit and giggle in amazement at it constantly. It's worth it just for that.

We bought this for about $280 directly from Amazon. Our twins daughters are almost 3 years old and about 39 inches tall. Even though the slide isn't all that long, it is positioned at a steep angle, so they can get some momentum. The girls might be too big for the slide next summer, but they are loving it right now! We bought it because it was much cheaper than similar items on Amazon and other websites. I think it was a really good buy. I actually purchased 2 of these years ago. 1 for 2yo son, and 1 for 3yo niece, which I had to ship across country. Awesome concept, but....... I cannot say how it was used by my niece, but my son never played with anything beyond the battery operated scanner that played the sounds. He still has it in his room 6 years later, and still hasn't used it beyond the scanner! But doesn't want me to take it out of his room.
Still, I gave it 5 stars because I believe in the product. It is an awesome concept, and if I didn't already own one, I'd probably buy it again.

My 4-year-old nephew requested a drum set for Christmas and I didn't want to buy him something that "just made noise" but a musical instrument that could grow with him. I hesitated before spending this amount of money on an instrument that he might not want to learn, but when I passed up the opportunity to get it for Christmas and he seemed disappointed I decided to purchase it for his birthday. When we unpacked the instrument we truly began to realize what a terrific value this drum set is for the amount of money that we paid for it. We received 5 drums, 2 cymbals, a stool, and drumsticks the set was beautiful and clearly good quality. The birthday guests were all very impressed by the professional look a family member with professional experience in music "confirmed" that this is indeed a quality musical instrument rather than just a good looking toy. It was good that we had this family member around the drums needed to be tuned and positioned correctly and we, as non-drummers, were fairly off in our set-up. However, the seller had provided us with clear instructions and offers of assistance that made us right enough that our nephew never would have known our errors in any case. Most importantly, our nephew was clearly thrilled with the gift he played the rest of the afternoon only stopping long enough to let his younger brother take a very brief nap. When he heard his brother wake up, he RAN back to the drums to play again. He says that he is a rock star now and I'm not sure if he sounds like one, but he sure does look like one with his awesome drum set!

Overall these are a pretty solid. The hardware and cymbals are pretty low quality, but for the price it is nice. It arrived in perfect condition and it is a really sharp looking little set. As a life long drummer it was easy for me to set up, but I can easily see how someone with no knowledge of this stuff would struggle. It took me about 45 minutes to get it all together. Not much more, and I took my time. Of course I knew where everything went. I'd think a person that didn't know anything about this would probably take a couple of hours. The directions are really poor. Common sense should be enough though.Getting an all inclusive set for around $ shipped is a real bargain though. I debated just getting a normal sized set for my 4 year old, knowing he could grow into it, but that would have cost me at least $ for anything even remotely decentthat included everything (cymbals, sticks, throne.) I looked around for monthsshopping, comparing, shopping more, and this was by far the best for the money. The 1st Act stuff is pretty junky in my opinion. This wasn't as great as I had expected, but again for the money you can't go wrong. It's small, so they won't use it for a ton of years. The good part of that is they will be less likely to wreck it. I think I could sell it now for more than I paid for it locally. I know that when I do eventually sell it I will not lose much of anything on it. It does seem durable enough for my 4 year old, though.
Really, if you are hesitant, don't be. I am as frugal of a shopper as you will find and always work hard for the best deal. I found one here, and you can to. I bought the black. Really, really sharp!

Drum kit arrived today. Opened and inspected all parts happily everything was in order.I hour later the kit is set up and ready for our son to start playing.
Some reviews have noted that is was difficult to set up and this is not the case. Everything is well packaged and putting it together was pretty straight forward so you really can't go wrong.
Quality of the hardware is excellent so it should last a long time.

I've never done anything with stepping motors before now. When this motor arrived the only documentation was a link to a site that showed the motor specs and wiring. After a quick search the motor looked like it was easy to use, so I decided to try to control it with an Arduino motor shield. This is not the solution I would suggest for any one else, but I wanted to try this instead of an actual motor controller so that I could get a better understanding of how it worked. I've got a stepping motor controller on order and plan to use it. The advantage of having the stepping motor controller is it will manage the sequence of coil activations required to turn the motor and gives you more liberty as far as what lines you use to control the motor (Assuming you are using an Arduino). I think a stepping motor controller will also do a better job at managing the current to the motor (I think I may be using more than necessary). If you want to test your motor to see if it works try the code below. But don't use the code for an actual project implementation. Go with the motor controller.The A-coils in the motor are controlled with the red/green wire pair and the B-coils are controlled with the yellow-blue wire pair. The lines on the Arduino the control the motor shield are as follows:

When we saw this online, I didn't look very closely on how the function would be. We bought this for our 2 yr. old son and he will play w/the button but you have to push the button 2 or 3 times for 1 page and it becomes boring to him. He will pick it up every once in a while and play but I wouldn't have purchased it in the store after I was able to see it's function.It was just ok for him!
The good things are that the sound is very clear and loud enough for a child. If your child will allow for you to read it to them, this will be a great item for you. Our 2 year old is too independant and will bring only the books he wants for us to read to him.

I reviewed the other FP Laugh & Learn book earlier, and I'll say the same about this one:This is a great book for small babies to older children! The story is really cute and the songs engage the children...it incorporates the animals and numbers into the story and songs. The sun button is enticing to push and lights up when the book is talking or singing.
It has a switch on it to turn the volume to two different settings or to turn it off to save batteries (or so you can pack it to take with you while traveling). This has gone with us several places and still looks new! She's had this book for months and still loves it.
My niece who is 4 actually likes the book too especially because it's something she can "read" to the baby.
The only downside is that there is only a couple pages so the story is short.
