Vtech InnoTab Learning Tablet with Case - Pink Review

After long and hard debate between the Innotab and the Leappad, we went with the Innotab because it's cheaper(this exact product, SOFT case included(I just noticed that item being reviewed picture on this page shows the innotab sitting with the hard case, while the actual box shown on the main page uses the SOFT case, if it's got INNOTAB emblazioned on it, it's THE SOFT CASE!), was found for 79.99 at a big box toy retailer, and ordered over the internet, DON'T PAY MORE FOR A TOY THAN YOU WOULD AN ADULT VERSION!)

Why did we choose the innotab? Because of it's video playback capabilities, and the fact that the cartridges you purchase often have 5 different activities for the same price as one app on it's closest competitor, as well as expandability with SD cards. Of course, this is a christmas present, and I'm so excited for christmas. I just spent the last 2 hours playing with the Innotab and finally decided to pack it back up and tape it up so I can't play with it anymore :D I easily removed the Innotab from the packaging and replaced it just as easily.

The download was easy, I have Windows 7 and a 10g connection, but it literally only took a few minutes, the longest part was the upload of the updates thus far, and that only took a minute. I went to vtechkids website and registered it, set up my parental account, and my daughter's account. Then I spent an hour uploading music to the 2GB SD card(not included, I cannabilized my camera lol) and playing with the various functions. I absolutely LOVE the fact that it has a stand built right in. There's auto shut off if nothing happens in 8 minutes, and it goes into a modified sleep mode after it's been left for 4 minutes.

The consthe screen itself seems a little iffy, but that might just be me, personally(touch screens and I have long agreed to disagree), and this particular case seems really flimsy and cheap, more of a decorative cover than functional. Maybe when the Easter Bunny comes to town, we'll buy the hard case(cause I sure as crap ain't paying more for the hard case than I paid for the innotab, eh?) and I'm not too sure about the reader yet, but that was only one sample book, I didn't spend the 3 coins that came with it, I figured I'd better let her pick what things she wants. Everything in the store is 1 coin atm, but it's all 1 item, you HAVE to buy cartridges to get the premium character items, and we haven't gotten any yet. Theoretically she'll be able to earn more coins by completing certain games, we'll see how that works after christmas.

I don't have a tablet myself, and I'm actually jealous of my 5 year old. Lol. I'll be back if any glaring problems present themselves.

The Innotab is what I am having problems with. Can it be returned ? The batteries have been changed at least 5 times and she has only played on it for a total of around 3 hrs. What can be done to fix this?

I ordered this item for my daughter for her birthday. It worked well for a while, but then began making sparking noises, turning on and off randomly, and has a HUGE black mark in the middle now! My daughter has been VERY careful with her InnoTab, keeping it in the case as it is her favorite learning activity. She cannot play it at all now, and my attempts to contact the seller have gone unanswered. I bought this item early because the price was fair. I should have just purchased from another decent, honest seller and paid the extra money. I will NEVER purchase from this seller again, nor will I recommend them! My daughter is heartbroken!!!

The tablet was a great Christmas present for my daughter. Soon after receiving it the touch screen stopped working properly. We did all the trouble shoots and since could not get the touch screen back on track. I had to call the company of V-Tech to get a replacement tablet. Other than that my daughter loves it. She can now stay off of my iPad since she has her own age appropriate tablet.

I use this with my 3 year old and it is amazing how smart she is and how this teaches kids to be observant. This is NOT a self teaching game. It is for parents that want to work with their children. You ask them questions about a picture, such as what color, or letter, or whats wrong, or which picture is different from the others. I really enjoy learning games that I can play with my children and this is one of them. The game is sturdy and there are like 300 questions. so there is a lot to go through with your kids. they come bound together is such a way that you can look at all the questions easily, but dont have a big mess to clean up later.

Yes, this plastic case will most likely extend the useful life of that iPad mini. Bright blue shines in the dark; fit is so tight I don't know if the mini will ever escape; handles enough for an octopus to be satisfied. When I was in the 5th grade, my parents gave me a Heathkit radio to assemble as a Christmas present. That led to additional interest in electronics, a degree in Electrical Engineering and a career in computer design. Our grandson is continually questioning how all things work, so this seemed like an ideal present for his 5th birthday. He is just starting to read, so he is unable to perform the experiments alone, but it is an exceptional opportunity for grandparent-grandson interaction and bonding.

I am impressed by all aspects of this item, and give it enthusiastic endorsement.

The booklet lists 78 experiments, each with very clear assembly and operation instructions. A very pleasant surprise is the "Educational Corner", which turns each experiment experience into a discussion on diverse topics electicity, lightning, magnetism and static electicity.

The box claims that the experiments are appropriate for ages 8-108. I can attest that with adult supervision, the experiments hold the rapt attention of children of ages 5, 3 and 1. The 5 year old retains the information we discuss and talks about the details on subsequent use. The 3 year old may not retain the information we discuss, but he understands and contributes to the experiment assembly. The 1 year old sits patiently and then holds out her finger to activate the switches for the experiment, and giggles with every flying saucer launch or light activation.

Snaptricity is not the first Elenco Snap Circuit I have purchased for my grandson. He can do it all himself........these are fabulous. Great educational value; very sturdy....and so engaging for the budding engineer! Perfect for ages starting at 7 or 8..........altho younger siblings are fascinated to watch. Elenco is a responsive and responsible company....when a part is lost, they send it very fast.....they have replaced lost directions as well as parts!

Bought it for my pre-school-aged son. We've made circuits detailed in the instructions and our own designs. He loves flipping switches to turn combinations of lights on full / dim / etc. Also loves to launch the propeller off the motor high / low into the air based on switch positions for parallel vs serial circuits including lamps. Things I'd change: the bar magnet is supposed to be stowed in the box close to the compass I'd put them at opposite ends of the box so the compass keeps true longer. Comes with 3 incandescent lamps recommend 2 of those and 1 LED to demonstrate difference in power consumption and light quality. Also would be nice to have a different electromagnet unit that could be used in conjunction with the clear iron filings container to show flux lines. One more pushbutton switch (Normally Closed to complement the Normally Open one). Finally, add a simple circuit breaker on the power supply. With today's NiMH AA batteries packing more punch, it would be good to have a tool to explain and demonstrate the importance of safety.

We bought this for our very curious 6 year old son, he so loved it. He has been playing with it for hours over many days. He keeps rebuilding it differently to see how the circut works. I am planning on buying another kit so he can put them together. It is great because it is strong and sturdy and easy for him to snap together. Our 14 year old son loves it too. This box is a lot more descriptive than the Original box it has words like 'corduroy' and 'champagne', so I think it's a bit more limited. There are definitely enough pronouns and conjunctions to make coherent sentences though. The whole box takes up the entire surface of a regular sized freezer. Never had an issue with them falling off, even when slamming fridge door.

My 10 month old loves this cube. He does not stack yet but loves to dismantle it when I do. He also plays with them a lot when they are nested. He takes it out one by one and plays with them. Honestly, we picked this toy up at a garage sale, but couldn't be happier. We are the second owners and everything works great! We also own the Chicco DJ Guitar (which we purchased new). The Baby Genius Tempo's Rockin Guitar seems to have a load more fun value. The strings are durable, and play parts of the music when strummed. My son loves to hold his guitar just like the "real thing" giving us our own rock n' roll shows in the living room! The music on this one also seems to be more like an electric guitar than the Chicco model.

There are also three different volumes, a big hit with mom!

If your kids watch the big kids play rock band or real guitars, then it would be a good bet they would love this toy! I would buy it again!

Just received it, and love the fit and feel of this item. Gives a good grip. Very thick gel material. A little over 1mm thick. This is not a blue gel skin as advertised. In fact it is turquoise. I was prepared that it will not look blue based on all the reviews. Still was surprised that it is no way close to as pictured. I've decided to upload some pictures of the actual item incase you want to know what it looks like, however Amazon won't let me upload my image. For now, the best color to show you is this item. From the picture it looks like the Gel Skin is deep blue, but when it arrived I found it more aqua. I really don't like the color, it seems to clash with the green LeapPad2; but my son doesn't care, and it fits the LeapPad2 like a glove.

I was a bit hesitant to order this because it says it fits both the LeapPad and LeapPad 2; I wondered if I was buying the one for the original LeapPad, which also fits the LeapPad2, but not perfectly (which is what we previously had been using). I checked LeapFrog's website before ordering and just hoped it was the right one it was! This Gel Skin lines up perfectly with the LeapPad2.

Overall I'm quite happy with it, though I probably should have purchased the green one. I feel my son's LeapPad is well protected. I definitely recommend one of these if you own this tablet.

Just ordered this for my son because his favorite color is blue and like the other reviewer stated the picture looks deep blue, but it is an aqua color. I ordered the green for my other son (I wanted 2 different colors so they could easily tell which one was theirs) and I don't want purple, so we will keep it, but wish it was blue.

Word of caution: if you have hardwood floors, this toy WILL SLIDE SIDEWARDS. It lacks rubberized wheels. This will not necessarily cause the kid to fall, but you may want to keep an eye. May also be an advantage if the kid can figure out how to move it.

Also makes a sound when the wheels spin with no apparent meaning.

Finally the toys at the front do not seem to be entertaining, at least for my 1yr old.

My little girl and I really liked this toy. She really liked pushing it around and using the shape-sorter part (well, kind of. she put everything in the large hole in the top). Unfortunately, the walker stopped playing music when she pushes it. We can't figure out what happened to make the music stop, but it did. Now when she pushes it, it just makes a dull clicking noise. It still serves its purpose, but I'm disappointed in how quickly the music stopped working. We've only had the thing for 3 months.

First...I am NOT a professional microscope user. I can only review this from what I needed and the price point I was willing to spend. I build scale models out of brass, copper, and aluminum. Some of the detail that I as striving for is very fine. I was using one of those lighted magnifiers on a boom, but even those weren't even strong enough for the detail I am striving for. Hence...the search for a microscope.

I bought this particular model with the florescent light ring. Since I am working with reflective metals, I felt the LED lights were going to be too bright. My shop already has florescent lights, so I thought it would be best to go with the florescent ring light.

I called the sales department with a few questions (one being the light choice which the salesman agreed with my logic) and I received satisfactory answers to everything. I also had an idea of the answers and he actually just reaffirmed that I was making the correct choice.

I used the microscope for the first time this weekend, soldering some parts together that the amount of solder used is crucial so as not to blob it. The microscope worked perfectly for the task. I can now see what I am doing!

I was surprised how heavy this thing is and how well built it feels. I was really wondering about the quality because I saw various other microscopes costing well over double for what I paid for this.

As a caveat...I have no idea how this would compare to something that costs $2000, but for me and my $500 budget, it works perfectly. I bought the trinocular version because I wanted the capability to add a camera to the unit at a later date.
