It is solidly constructed from wood and thick coated wire with wooden beads. They provide a great introduction to counting for toddlers and up. I love that there are no pieces to lose, it is self contained. If you children like bead mazes this is a great compromise between pure fun and educational fun for a great price. My only disapointment, which was not enough to detract overall, was that the "written" numbers to correspond to each number of beads are simply stickers stuck to the wood. They haven't peeled or become damaged at all, I just would have preferred them to be painted on.

My kids love the iXL! I love the software for a couple of reasons:

1) I only have to buy the software once and can upload it on both of my kids' iXL's

2) Once uploaded on the iXL the software is always with you...I don't have to worry about lost cartridges!

3) It's educational, has easy to follow instructions although the software is intuitive.

4) It's enjoyable. Even my husband and I pick up the iXLs and play with them from time to time.

Overall a great purchase.

Although my 3 year old daughter does not watch Spongebob the cartoon, I got this game for her because she has almost all of the others that go with this system and this was one of the last ones to get for her. The games and graphics are cute and the sounds and phrases are catchy and she likes them. The games are good teaching tools and she has really enjoyed playing with it.

We absolutely love this toy...in fact, we like all the Playskool gear toys. It is not just something to look at, it moves too! There is a handle on the back so the toy can be easily pushed and pulled. When it moves all the gears (and also the eyeball) rotate around. Our daughter loves it when we push it around, she will grab it and move it herself, and she ABSOLUTELY adores when we roll over her with it!! The noise this makes when moved instantly attracts her as well. There are little fabric pieces on top of its head that provide a soft surface on the otherwise plastic toy that she can grab at. The gears are detachable and very easy for a child to lift up themselves (our daughter carries them off with her frequently). The coolest thing is that the gears on this toy are compatible with the other gear toys from Playskool (Busy Gears and Musical Ball and Gear Center). Bonus!

After I bought this, I sort of had buyers remorse. I really wasn't sure if my 8 month old twins would be into it at all. I was wrong, they love it! They love both the gears and the critter. They love to chew on the gears, bang them on the floor and hold them. The handle/tail on the critter is great for little hands to push and pick up. I can entertain them for a long time, pushing this toy across the floor and having them chase after it. This toy is one of the first toys they go after, so glad I purchased it.

My daughter received this as a christmas gift and just loves it! The toy is extremely durable and very interactive, with twisty gears and wheels and eyes that draw her interest. The best is that the gears are removable and the toy can interact with others in the series, so it is also somehting that will grow with her and not get pushed to the bottom of the toy box as she gets older. The colors are fabulously bright and the large handle makes it super-easy for my little one to push around.

My little one is 10 months now and loves this toy. He likes to pull out the "gears" as well and try to make the gears go! It is nice that it does come apart (the gears come out of the critter) so a child can learn to reassemble as well as chose to play however they want. I recommend this toy if you have a child who likes things that spin!

Recommended by local Montessory school. An excellent tool for kids 5-6 and up to learn how to identify money cards have photos of US coins and banknotes. Coins are pictured in both heads and tails!

There are 96 cards with bills, coins or combination of both to challenge little minds. Quantity is stated in both numerals and words. Well made. This solution is oil based and very messy when transfering from one container to the other. It does work however I would recommend offering it in an ready to use container such as a petri dish.

When i first got it i was really excited and immediately poured some in a bowl and put a magnet over it. The magnet was much stronger than i thought it was so, of course, the fluid got EVERYWHERE. I didn't give it a 5 because it was VERY hard to clean up and stained my jeans but i probably should have expected that. My bottle is sealed in a plastic baggie and every once in a while I like to get some out and play with it. I wonder what will happen if i light some on fire first? Anyway... I highly recommend this as something to play/experiment with.

Cheap FLY Speaker

(...)Very simple, very straight forward operation. Simply plug it in to the port on the Pen and turn it on. The on/off dial is also the volume control. Small enough in size yet is able to add just enough "UMPHH" to your pen! Runs on AA batteries.

This speaker is very handy and enables everyone to share the "fun" of the Fly Pen. Having this has been so helpful, especially in the beginning "new" phase of owning the pen.

My boys and I have been able to sit around the coffee table and take turns trying out the different features of the Fly Pen. Because of the speaker, the volume of the activities was not an issue and we all could enjoy!

Certainly not a necessity, but a GREAT convenience!

I bought this for my granddaughter about five years ago. Because it pops up on the list of items for review I will try to recall the results.

This was not an item that she found particularly useful. However, it worked as advertised. I don't know if this is still available but if it is and you are considering a purchase I would not suggest that you base your decision on this one review. She had other items she found more entertaining and useful. However, to be fair, it did work as it was supposed to do and another reviewer gave it five stars.

My 10-month-old son LOVES this toy. I almost didn't buy it because there's no volume control, but I'm so glad I did. It also helped him learn to crawl because he was so motivated to chase after it. It's very easy for him to get the train to go -the button on top is easy for a baby to push.

He loves grabbing the balls as they spin around inside the train and then putting them back in again. The different settings are good (spinning balls vs. balls falling out the back; stationary vs. moving train), and you can also turn the center wheel on the underside of the toy to make the train go in a circle instead of a straight line. The train will also move on carpet if the pile isn't too thick.

Only downsides are that there's no volume control--it's pretty loud--and the tunes get stuck in your head.

My long-awaited, spoiled baby daughter has so many toys a lot of our friends comment that we should open a daycare center (no thanks!). This is one of the toy purchases I truly regret. I am putting it in the attic because it NEVER gets used. I keep showing it to my baby, who's now 21 months old, but we both think the same thing BORING. BTW, we've had it for about a year now, and she's never been interested in it, so I don't think she ever will be. Save your money and buy the Playskool Busy Ball Popper instead loads of fun for about the same amount of money. As an added bonus, even the older kids from the neighborhood love to play with the Ball Popper (even up to age 14), especially when it has fresh batteries and the balls pop all over the place! Take my advice if you're trying to decide between these 2, get the ball popper and leave this one behind.

My 9 month old loves this toy. It captures his attention for quite some time. He likes to chase the train and pull the balls out, and then put them back in to watch them go around. My dog also likes to watch the balls around and often hits the button on the top of the train when my son is not playing with it. Great toy! The music is kind of loud, but it keeps the baby quiet, so I won't complain!

I really like this toy. It's just challenging enough for my two-and-a-half year old. She can thread the circles on by herself, and she likes the cute sheep that it makes. You can fit them on in any order. For more of an educational slant, sometimes we try to actually do the circles in the order they're supposed to go in, in rainbow order (there are little color coded dots on each circle) if we are doing it together, but she can still play with it by herself.

My only complaint is that the end piece is really hard for a toddler to get on, and so she can't complete the sheep completely by herself. I would imagine that this part would be too hard even for a three-year-old.

We purchased this toy as a gift for our two year old daughter this Christmas. It's rather engaging to put together, and absolutely adorable once it's assembled. I will say that the final piece is a bit tricky for our two year old to snap on by herself, but she honestly prefers to play with it fully assembled as a pretending-type toy. This fun game is a good beginning to learning roots for words. The rules are basic and some questions arise in play that the given rules don't answer. So, we just make up our own and establish at the beginning of play.

There are several games to play at different levels of knowledge starting with a game that assumes the players know nothing of roots. If your kids can read, your kids can learn their roots.

What I really like is that it has levels of strategy that can become more complicated with each level of play, so if your kids are competitive players, the game is even more challenging.

I ordered this game after a student complained that not only were my SAT prep lessons boring, but she also wasn't learning anything. She said it didn't do any good to learn strategies and clue words when she didn't know most of the other words in the sentence. The SAT uses so many words that are unfamiliar to my students that I could see her point. Yet I can't teach 1,000 vocab words in a semester, so I am hoping learning some Greek roots would help them decipher a few.

I had the same girl try out this game with 3 other students. They all agreed it was fun and was helping them learn the roots and a few new words. There are several ways to play one version is similar to "Go Fish" and the other ways are more like Rummy. In the Rummy version students built words from 2 roots, but they needed to refer to a word list which was included, but I had to make copies so each student had their own.

I would like to see the game use less common roots I feel like most people will know roots like AQUA, TELE and BIO. Also in the Rummy game, they build words, and I would like to see more advanced words telegraph is not a word that is going to come up much or help students on the SAT. I would like to order Rummy Roots II to see if it is more appropriate for SAT prep/high school curriculum, but my main complaint is the expense of this game; Only 4 players per game and at $16 plus shipping, there is no way I can afford enough sets for a class of 30+ kids.

We first played this game quite a few years ago. I think it laid a foundation for our daughter to have an interest in roots. Understanding that roots are beneficial is a great help in Biology and Anatomy & Physiology (and life in general). I'm very happy we played this game with her at an early age. If you or your child has not already explored learning roots this is a great way to start.

My daughter loves this toy. It is easy for her to push lily's tummy by herself and get her singing. There is only one song and it does get in your head but my daughter really loves it and still plays with it at 14 months old. You can get past the one song thing when you realize that your child is hearing Lily count 1-10 over and over and will soon be repeating it.
