I bought this for a young child who is a music student (violin and percussion) and she likes it a lot. I also bought one of these in the smaller version, which would fit her hands better, but this bigger one sounded enough better that I went ahead and gave it to her, keeping the smaller one to play with myself. (The smaller one does have an impressive sound for its size.) Great quality. Great value. I didn't much care for the color as it appeared in the photo, but after receiving it I like the color a lot....quite like a real bullfrog (I've caught and eaten a few from Kansas farm ponds!)....and seems to be a stain rather than paint so I don't think it will peel or flake off, plus the wood grain is visible through the stain.

The frog is wrong size, I've had a replacement shipped, but it also came at the wrong size (it is in Centimeters but description sais in INCHES) so it is 2.6 times smaller than described. Other than that it is exactly as I would expect (have I expected it in centimeters)

We don't let our kids spend a lot of time playing video games/watching television, but our 8 year old son LOVES doing those activities. We are using the Awesome Cards as a reward system. He has the opportunity to earn a card each day by doing a special task/chore or sometimes just by having a good attitude about doing a family activity. Each card can be redeemed for 10 minutes of "technology time" and it's really helping him do more around the house without me nagging AND he's whining less about when he can play video games. Bought a pack of the boys/girls cards for my son (3) and daughter (6) and I am amazed at how well this simple idea works. I find that my kids are looking for opportunities to earn the cards even though we have not developed any sort of currency for the cards yet (i.e. one card allows to kid to do/get X). They enjoy earning the cards simply for the sake of collecting them.

What I found really interesting with this product was how my kids are searching for new awesome things to do now to earn a card. For instance, over the course of last year, one of my daughters big fears was jumping into a pool. Over our family holiday this summer, my daughter suddenly blurted out "dad, would I get an awesome card if I jumped off the dock into the water?" When the reply was "of course" off she went. Now, I made the mistake of leaving the actual cards at home on our trip, but this did not stop her from coming up with 6 more ways to earn throughout the rest of our holiday.

Any 'toy' that can help push my kids forward to accomplish more awesomeness in their life certainly deserves 5 stars.

I was one of the beta testers for this product, but other than that I have no connection with Dr Awesome, who created it (and yes of course that's his real name! It must be, right?). I thought I'd best be upfront about that, but I have not been paid for a review, and the following are my honest opinions. I cannot be bought!

My daughter is three, and shall we say challenging? I practice gentle parenting and do not agree with time-outs or other punitive punishments. I also do not like reward charts (have a read of Alfie Kohn to find out why). So finding a way to discipline my child can be hard.

I tried out the Awesome Deck of Awesome and fully did not expect it to be much good for us. I didn't expect my little girl to be interested in the cards or earning them, but I was wrong!

First, I let her look at them but made it clear they were mine. She spent happy time sorting them out into piles of girls' and boys' ones (my beta deck was a neutral deck with cards for both sexes) and decided on her favourites.

She was then very keen to earn them by being awesome! I allowed her to keep them and gave her a purse to put them in. I now need a new deck because she has nearly all of them and refuses to give them back! I guess I should have made it clear to her that they were currency so I didn't run out, but she is too young to want to use them to buy treats for her, they ARE the treat. But that is great, because that is why and how they work.

With older children it would definitely work to get them to spend cards to buy treats.

I think the deck is great awesome in fact!

It focuses attention on the positive behaviour rather than the negative and offers opportunities for "bad" behaviour to be turned around and made awesome to earn a card. My daughter has grasped the concept of "being awesome" and even issues me with cards if she feels I have been awesome enough, which is super-cute and also makes it much more holistic. We are each of us both the teacher and the student.

The cards are fun, and although it might feel sexist to have girls' decks and boys' decks, we beta testers did ensure that designs were not focused on prettiness or being "feminine" so they are really just more focused designs than pigeonholing genders. I was pretty vocal about that in the beta testing!

It's surprising how many ways you can use the cards and how versatile they are all ages the Awesome Deck of Awesome blog has more ideas for how to use them.

In all, a great gentle parenting resource that you can use in loads of fun ways.

LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game - Disney Princess: World of Review

The Leapster2 was one of my daughter's birthday gifts last year (when she turned 5), at the time I also purchased 3 games for her (the I Spy treasure hunt, Tangled, and First Grade cartridges). Of those, the I Spy game has been her favorite and gotten the most replay.

I purchased this game (Disney Princesses: World of Enchantment) as a Christmas gift to expand her collection, and it has quickly become her new favorite. The games are fun and engaging, with just the right amount of challenge, and it has excellent replay value. Because it doesn't follow the storyline of a movie (like the Tangled game does), it is much more interesting to replay and definitely more educational. I highly recommend this game, and so does my daughter!

This is a Christmas gift for my 3 year old Daughter, so we have been unable to use it yet, but the arrival was spot on. No damage to the package or product. If it's anything like the previous games we have bought, I know it will be a huge hit!

I purchased this set for my 11 year old grandson who likes building things and recently asked that I explain how aircraft fly. This set seems like a perfect solution to both. In reviewing both the instruction manual and the parts, I am impressed with the quality. As a Professional Aeronautical Engineer, I look forward to helping my grandson with the hydrodynamic and aeronautical experiments.

My 11 year old enjoyed this kit and building the various models. Overall this is a good toy for those interested in science/physics/engineering. Couple of gripes though. Some parts are very hard to fit together and require some muscle to get them to fit properly. This was made more difficult by the lack of detail and perspective in the instructions. The instructions are nicely presented and the color is great, but often did not provide enough detail (close ups) of certain areas or parts, or provide a different angle to readily understand how the various small parts are to be assembled this lead to a bit of frustration. If not for this, I would have given it 5 stars.

This is the second game that my almost 4 year old nephew has gotten for the vmotion. He has figured out how to navigate the menus on his own and loves almost all of the games. Great entertainment, but don't expect a schoolbook lesson or anything. Some color matching and number identification but nothing hard core. Great for him as an intro to the world of video games.

I would rate this rain maker a 5, but the sticker on the toy was a pain to get off. I ended up lightly scrubbing it with soap and water, which removed the sticker, but got water in the toy. The water eventually evaporated, but really.....they make stickers which are easy to remove! Other wise the rain maker is wonderful! My daughter enjoys it!

The magnet on the stylus is so strong (or the letters themselves are so small) that any and all of the little metal pellets that are anywhere near the stylus pop up, completing the letter, before your child has even tried to properly follow the guide numbers and arrows. I'm right now watching my four year old complete all the letters by just playing with the stylus, drawing little circles around all the letters, regardless of their shape. I don't think that really benefits him in any way or teaches him anything. Please note, we only have the lower case version. I don't know if this same problem affect the capital letter or number versions of this toy.

We were told by our daughters teachers that instead of using the IPAD to learn how to write, we should encourage our daughter to hold on to a pencil like object, as it requires a complete different set of muscles from a development point of view. So we purchased this after seeing this in a toy store for an exorbitant amount of money, and it seemed to pique the interest of our daughter, and we thought it would help her learn the actual strokes required to write letters.

Overall the pen that is magnetized is too powerful. While sliding down the letter, a lot of nearby steel balls are pulled up. The worst part is that a lot of times, the steel balls for nearby letters are also partially pulled up. My daughter is fascinated by it, and loves to play with it, but from an educational point of view, it has very limited use.

Would I buy this again? Probably not, as this wasn't as helpful as we thought it would be.

I bought this and the capitol letter magnatab as well. They are a huge hit with my kids at school and it really does help them trace letters. I love that they can also use their finger to push the metal beads back down. The "pen" that is used does have a lot of power and sometimes grabs some metal beads before it gets to that area of the letter they are trying to trace, however, i don't find that to be a deal breaker. The overall concept for the magnatab is wonderful.

My kids absolutely love these and they are a must for air travel. We've always tried to get them to wear our headphones on airplanes so as to not disturb other passengers. They always fell off their tiny heads. These fit PERFECTLY on my toddler and preschooler. They are comfortable and because of the padded earphones, don't get too loud. Bought these headphones for my 3 1/2 yr old a month ago. He has used them with my ipod nano and his cassette player. They work perfect with the nano because he can't adjust the volume if I lock it. However, with his cassette player he can crank up the volume and there is NO SAFETY VOLUME CONTROL on the headphones. Thus, I have to be with him when he uses the cassette player or any other device that the volume can easily be adjusted, so he doesn't damage his hearing. Great for airplanes that are very noisy. Also got the Belkin headphone splitter so I could listen along to audiobooks and music with him. Supervision required with devices that have an accessible volume control!! Wish Califone would have mentioned this.

We got these headphones for our 2 year-old daughter's portable DVD player. We were traveling on an airplane and needed something to allow her to hear the movies without disturbing others. I was really skeptical that she would wear them at all, but she loves them! She wants to wear them all the time, even when she is watching movies at home where headphones aren't required! The headphones are small and fit snugly over her ears, but must not be uncomfortable because she has never complained. I love the one wire instead of two, we haven't had any tangling or snagging issues. They seem durable and the sound quality is fine. I would say these are a great purchase for the money!

I bought two of these (for a 5 yr old and 8 yr old).

We have been through so many types of headphones, trying to find something that stays up on the head or in/on the ears and that doesn't break easily. FINALLY we have found the perfect ones.

They seem very sturdy, and I haven't heard a single complaint yet about them staying on. The kids dance around in them with no problem. They also fit my 3 yr. old. I was hesitant to pay more than $10 for a set of earphones for a kid, but now I am glad that I did.
