I bought this for my 26-month-old grandson. He loves it and plays with it a lot. One of the best things about it is the magnetic connector for the wagon to be attached to the tractor. I like this little magnetic Haiku set. It is handy enough to tote right along with you.I do not use mine on the fridge.I spread the words out, and form poems right on the counter.Afterwards, I write the poem in my poetry journal.I have only one complaint.Although the box is lovely in its decor,I so wish this came in a metal box. Far easier to toss in your purse....no crushing.However, that said,I so like this item!

Gave it to my brother for his birthday, and he texted me a picture of his small refrigerator with some very deep haiku plastered on the door. Something to consider when he reaches for the Mt. Dew. Haha. In all seriousness, though, it's easy to put up a selection of these magnets anywhere, and they start conversations and get people thinking just a little more literarily. While studying volcanoes, I had always wondered what the ash would be like and this gave me a chance to experience it. I especially like the experiment I tried that involved adding a small amount of moisture to the ash and seeing the result, that was pretty cool.

Pros:

A very large quantity of ash (more than you will find pretty much anywhere else). I must admit, I did my math backwards when I first ordered this product. I thought I was getting about a half pound of ash, whereas it was actually 2.2 pounds. Still cool, though, just means I have a lot more to "experiment" with.

Cons:

Since it is a heavier product, if end up having to ship it anywhere, then it might cost you a bit to do so. Just don't be like me, double check your shipping address before finalize your order!

Discount LeapFrog Enterprises, LeapPad Carry Case Polka Dot

This is a well-made, mildly-padded case to protect a LeapPad or LeapPad2 from scuffs, drops, and falls during transit, and it includes storage for up to 6 cartridge games. The zipper is of good quality with a nice large pull to help small children operate it.

Although the case has molded recesses to match the size/shape of the 6 cartridge games and the LeapPad device, only the cartridge slots have retention elastic sewn in. Unfortunately, there is no retention strap or elastic pocket to retain the LeapPad, and the molded recess is not deep enough to "snap" the device in for a friction fit. Consequently, when you open the case, you need to pinch the sides securely in your hands or hold it horizontally to retain the LeapPad. If not, it will drop right out because it rides loosely inside the case. I find that ironic and slightly disappointing because the purpose of the case is protection, yet the use of the case by small children will likely result in MORE drops/falls. If they're standing on carpet at the time, this won't really matter. But if they happen to be near hard furniture, tile, or concrete, it could eventually damage or ruin the device. If you can teach your child to lay it down on a table or floor while opening it, (or to hold it horizontally while unzipping) it may not be a concern. I just thought I should mention it. The problem could've been avoided if LeapFrog had simply sewn in an elastic strap, end pockets, or a fabric sleeve over the main device compartment.

The 6 cartridge slots work great and help keep the small cartridge games from getting lost. I also like that the case is not obnoxiously bulky, though it does add about an inch of extra height/length/depth to the size of the device. If they were going to improve the case, it would also be neat to have a space to hold four extra AA batteries for long trips/vacations. Regardless, it's a good value for $10 $15.

This case is nice, it holds the LeapPad fairly well, and my 2 1/2 year old enjoys using it while in the case. It can be a little flimsy, that is why I did not give it 5 stars. But overall, not a bad purchase.

Buy Fisher-Price Stacking Vehicle Ice Cream Truck

We gave these to our nine month-old daughter as an Easter gift because we thought it would be nice for her to have her own set of cars. While we normally avoid toys with sounds and music, these are not too loud or annoying. Only the bottom "deluxe" car, as it is called in the description, lights up and makes the five individual sounds when the "driver" is pressed: a honking horn, laughing and giggling, tinkling bells and two short songs. A neat feature is that they are played randomly keeping one from having to hear exactly the same series if the button is being pressed over and over again. It also finishes each sound/song even if the driver is being repeatedly pressed down.

But the pictures are a bit misleading--at least with the cars we have. When the cars are taken out of the stack the "drivers" of the middle and top cars fall down into their respective cars so that only about a 1/4" of them is visible. These two drivers are only seen if they are stacked. It's not a big deal, but I wish Fisher-Price had made a way for them to twist and lock in the upright position once they are unstacked. Maybe we're missing something.

That issue aside, we're happy with the purchase and it is a very cute set that both my daughter and four year-old son have enjoyed. And the stacking feature is not only nice for play purposes but for storage as well.

This toy is super cute and the songs are not annoying. One of the three cars (the bottom ice cream truck) ligths up and makes noise. It's nice to have a set of cars that are girlish in color. Our daughter is six months old and she loves rolling the cars around (and tries to eat them too, of course). Very cute toy!

My daughter has most of the animals that were made for the Fisher-Price Little People Zoo Talkers Animal Sounds Zoo and we recently made the decision to purchase all the families. While she likes this family and plays with these bears often, I have to say it is my least favorite of all the family packs.

As a previous reviewer mentioned, we've had issues with the paint on these bears flecking off in some placesand in our case, the black from one of the bears actually smudged and rubbed onto one of the elephants in my daughter's collection. I would still purchase this family to go along with the zoo, but I'd recommend waiting until it goes on sale againand definitely purchasing the chimpanzee and elephant families first. Those are well worth the money and we have had no paint issues with those.

Toobaloos are GREAT for guided reading groups. I use different colored electrical tape to reinforce them because they are thin plastic that can fall apart if dropped "just the right way" on the floor. With reinforcement they'll last a long time. I also use alcohol wipes to sanitize them after each child uses the Toobaloo. Students love them and no one gets sick in my classroom from holding them near their face.

Cheap Mineral Test Kit

The kit came with all the parts.. and everything was fine except the bottle and penny. I unscrewed the cap and the dropper part (nipple) fell off. It is to small, so the bottle is useless. As for the penny, I was under the impression that it is copper that scratches the minerals? The penny was from the 1990's when they put very little copper in the pennies. Not a huge deal we had a 1970's here but still a little irked.

My daughter organized all the bugs by categories of which type of bug they were. Then she organized them by color. And then made patterns... blue red blue red etc. Now we use them as counters. She makes the bugs have conversations with each other. My husband sat down with her and made the spiders go to war against all the bugs. Men... sheesh. :0) Anyway, these are good quality durable but pliable material (rubber?) and are great fun for learning. There is the same number of each category; the manufacturers didn't just toss in a handful of bugs, so having the same number of each is nice for grouping multiplication facts.

The Dinoco tractor trailer seems to be well made, though the back door that opens to allow The King to ride into the trailer is REALLY difficult to open. So difficult in fact, when I first opened the toy to inspect it, I started to doubt whether or not it's supposed to open. I had to go back to my computer to check the product description and pictures to confirm that it, in fact, is supposed to open. I don't think a toddler can open it by him/herself. Certainly my 4 year-old cannot do it. It took my husband and me several tries before we could even do it and even then, it was very difficult, because there's not lever or handle to pull the door open. You have to hold the trailer top with one hand, while the other hand tries to pry the door open. Maybe as the boys play with it more, it will loosen up, but it's certainly very frustrating for the child to not be able to open it him/herself. And guess who has the privilege of trying to open it thirty-million times a day? That's right, the parent! Well, that was not going to work for me, so I put a 3M sticky note flag on the door, so now the kids can open and close the door at their leisure.

I love this journal! It's a perfect gift for someone who loves to travel and I appreciate that it is made from recycled, cruelty free material. The only complaint I have is that once you open the journal and write in it it is hard to close. The insert slides out and because its cover is so thin it is difficult to get back into the leather sleeve.

This journal is a little thicker than I thought, at a full 1" across. The leather dye has transferred onto the end pages, which looks a little grubby. The paper is unusual, even though I knew it was made of reclaimed cotton fibers. The screen pattern is obvious, so the texture is a bit like a crisp paper towel. However, it works well for mechanical pencil, ballpoint and gel pens, and colored pencils. It does not erase well AT ALL, though, and there is some show-through with felt tip pens. Watercolor pencils show through, too, but look good, and adding small drops of water did not rumple the page.
