My daughter organized all the bugs by categories of which type of bug they were. Then she organized them by color. And then made patterns... blue red blue red etc. Now we use them as counters. She makes the bugs have conversations with each other. My husband sat down with her and made the spiders go to war against all the bugs. Men... sheesh. :0) Anyway, these are good quality durable but pliable material (rubber?) and are great fun for learning. There is the same number of each category; the manufacturers didn't just toss in a handful of bugs, so having the same number of each is nice for grouping multiplication facts.

These are big enough for toddlers to manipulate. I used them in my water (sensory) table for our bug theme. the children sorted by color and by bug. We introduced the spider was not a bug but would like to each the rest of his friends.
