Cheap Do-A-Dot Dinosaurs Book Activity Book

This is a great coloring book to use with the Do-A-Dot paints or with markers or crayons. The pages are nice and thick, so it works well with paints. The pages are perforated and tear out nicely. Some of the pictures incorporate dots that are the same size as the Do-A-Dot paints, but it's really not very specific to those paints and can be considered to be a general coloring book made with thicker-than-usual paper.

There are about 15 pages with pictures of single dinosaurs drawn clearly with thick black lines and the name of the dinosaur printed at the bottom of the picture. These pictures are larger and simpler than the illustration on the cover of the book, so it's very well-suited to toddlers and pre-schoolers who aren't ready for more detailed coloring books yet. There are a few empty landscape pictures at the end and several pages of smaller dinosaurs that you can cut out and use to decorate the landscapes. My son is young, so we just stick with the big dinosaurs for now. I think the pages would xerox really well because of the quality of the paper and the style of the drawings, so you could easily get much more use out of the book.

My 2 1/2-year-old son loves dinosaurs and really enjoys his Do-A-Dot paints, so this is a great activity for us. We also have the truck one, which he loves, too.

My son loved the pictures, but the dot paint pens went though the back and onto the table.

I probably would not buy this book for paint pens again.

My friends, who also happen to be grandparents, are somewhat taken back by the cost of these books. They keep pointing me in the direction of the dollar stores and telling me to get my coloring books for the kids there. However, for water coloring there is nothing better than these do a dot books, the pages never soak through, they never get holes in them. The kids also use them for the do a dots from time to time but the primary use around here is water colors. They don't work well for magic markers because they are porus and soak the marker right up. To control the cost I tear out the sheets one at a time and make sure the kids don't waste them. I have bought just about all of them and I particularly like this dinosar book because of it's bold drawings.

I originally bought this for myself to help me remember things I think of when I can not write them down. However, when I opened the package my daughter loved the face and smiled every time I played my recorded voice, so now I leave it for her at the sitters. Every time she starts to get fussy, they play the recording for her and she gets distracted and calms down.

The battery died quickly, but it was fairly easy to change once I got through all the glue they used to assemble it.

This toy was terrible I replaced the battery at the cost of $5.00 and it still did NOT work. I would love a refund I was that displeased with the product! I think the concept is great, but the product is not usable. I would never recommend anyone buying this product!

This arrived in non-working condition, and I chose to have it replaced. It worked for a couple days and then spontaneously stopped working too. The recording device in it is extremely poorly made. I think you can pretty much guarantee if you buy this it won't work within a few days of owning it. A shame because it's a cute idea.

My daughter is 24 and is mentally disabled. She had learned to read using leapfrog. She has learned more out of School using these Leapfrog programs then she ever did in class. We had first gotten leapfrog Quantum and we also now have the writer. She loves the math mazes and more book.I wish I could buy her more at once. But we manage.

My son plays with almost nothing else since Christmas. Its a topographical map on one side, political on the other. But it goes way above and beyond geography. It has multi-level games to race yourself finding the countries, pictures of kids in various places who will tell you about their country. An opportunity to hear music styles from various cultures. It has layers and layers of fun. And yes, my 3-year old really does know where Turkmenistan is. Also Qatar. And the Pacific Ocean, and how many continents there are, and what Zydeco music sounds like. It's a great product. My only con is that its fraying at the seams it is just like a monopoly or other game board that folds into fourths. It is fraying on every edge. If you get this, note there are directions on the best way to fold it to make it last, but my 3 year old doesn't exactly keep that in mind. But it is truly a great product.

Such a great way to introduce the world to your child! We already had the tag reader with the books but this is a different experience. The map is large and you lay it down on the floor (there are two sides to play on). Kids can click around on the map to discover what other kids in the world eat for breakfast, how to say hello in other languages, about other cultures, oceans, continents, etc. Very interactive and engaging. Great quality and price.

Recently purchased for our daughter. This map is great for introducing the world and all its elements. It is a board [think board game, but a bit thicker]. It tri-folds and is double sided. One side has just the world and the other has little people and games and animals to associate to various locations. I was thinking that this would be a poster like map to hang on the wall, but that's ok. Since it is like a board game it can be transported for use anywhere. Great learning tool.

Leap Frog has again made learning fun. The map is two-sided and large: 35" X 20". It folds into thirds for fitting in the box and easy storage. It's very colorful and the artwork has a Disney feel to it. One side is "Countries of the World" (including oceans and seas) and has two learning games: Treasure Hunt which is a hot/cold game searching for specific countries and Map Racer where you are quizzed on your speed of map locations. Side two is called "Our World". This side has the most activities. There is a introductions to maps feature, Map Legend, Let's Explore which takes you on an adventure with Reggie and Sara, Travel Time which tells you the distance between children on the map. Kids Like Me teaches how the children say "hello" in their native language, what the kids eat for breakfast, where they live and a short song. Continents and Countries is a three level game about, you know what, and it's timed. Compass Rose sends you on a journey of discovery.

Lots of fun for the kids. My six years old loves it. Even though the games and activities are fun they are not the reason to get this map. It really is about the map itself. If you already have the Tag Pen then the small amount of money it costs to get this map is very much worth the money. My kids are home-schooled and will get years of use out of it. Highly recommended.

I purchased this item (from Amazon) for my five year old daughter to get an idea of where countries are on the world map. It is a really great learning tool for elementary school ages. There are two interactive maps (one on either side), one political and one physical. It teaches children about the continents, oceans, how children around the world say hello, food eaten in various countries and so much more. It has timed games to find places and a legend to explain the objects on the physical map. This is a fun introduction to Geography. However, finding the spoken names of some of the smaller countries/islands is a bit hit and miss and it would have been nice to have the US political boundaries, but I suppose Leapfrog has omitted this so that you buy the US map separately. It would have also been nice if they had added capital cities. Overall a good learning toy, which I would definitely recommend buying. I will be buying the US map soon.

NB I have given this a 4 star for durability, only because it is made of cardboard and may be prone to rips etc. Plastic would be more practical, but less environmentally friendly of course.

Cheap National Geographic Bingham Globe

This globe is a lovely addition to our home. It was more expensive than I expected but it's large and sturdy and the colors are lovely. The base is nice contrasting woods. It provides the kind of perspective of location that you just can't get when looking at a map on the web.

this was gifted to my three year old, yucky, he said, from the off-gassing smell the stain on the block gave off!

its made of soft pine, no real resonant sound except in one tiny spot. Truly just not impressive or pleasant to listen to at all.

get a real tone block and pass over this one, its just too cheap.

Here's what I love about the Yoga-Yingo games:

*Most children & adults have played "bingo" before so this is a fun way to infuse yoga into an activity they are familiar with.

*Love the cooperative, non-competitive nature of the game.

*Love that the game starts & ends by "centering" in the center of the board with breathing! Mountain pose is a great pose to begin the game and it would be easy to add a "sun stretch & breath" as a warm-up from this position. Child Pose is a wonderful calming pose that almost every child can easily do and is a great way to relax at the end of the game.

*Love the use of real photos of the poses on the game board & pose cards. Photos tend to be more concrete & easier to understand than line drawings or illustrations so this should help younger kids and those with special needs.

*Love that each set includes a sheet with step-by-step simple instructions & modifications for each pose. This makes it user-friendly for families or therapists who may not be familiar with yoga.

*Love the variety of ways these games could be used. These games could easily be used in an individual or group setting. It would be fun to incorporate the Farm Set & Nature Set into larger themed activities by adding music/songs, a book, crafts, etc. It would also be fun to make picture cards of the animals & nature items to use as non-identical matching with the pose cards in therapy sessions. Another idea would be to hide the yoga pose cards and find them in a Yoga-Yingo scavenger hunt.... Doing poses on the go :)

My 3 kids (ages 22 months 5 yrs) and I had a great time playing the Farm game. We all rolled around like pigs for the pig pose. I got extra downward dog time by having them crawl/bark like dogs under me when I was in dog pose. We did some EIEIO singing with lots of animal sounds. The kids all have like 2-3 favorite poses. My 22 month old can do some of the poses too. This is great cause then she can play with us. It was a fun way to incorporate some exercise into our day, esp. for me. They ask me, when can we play yoga again? My little one walks around saying "yoga time".
