I teach astronomy, and I have a pretty sophisticated Bushnell telescope I use myself. My 7-year-old gets a little frustrated with it because it's pretty sensitive. She was so excited to get her own telescope to check out the night sky with mom!! It's very easy for her to manipulate, and she is excited every time we find new things in the sky!! The Activity Journal is very engaging, simply written, and has a lot of interesting facts & pictures to stimulate kids to explore more. I think every child should own one of these!!

To the negative reviewer...this is CLEARLY a telescope made for children and young adults. Nowhere does it claim to be a professional telescope. If you are looking for a high end telescope, you are certainly going to pay more than this list price!!

I am a big fan of my 90X MoonScope Telescope with two glass eyepieces, a moon filter, tripod and red LED that allows you to journal while protecting your night vision. You need to know that if you are an MIT Fellow on loan to NASA, this is not the industrial strength instrument you are looking for. That is NOT a problem! I was not planning on paying hundred's, and the quality is more than required to give any budding astronomer a great experience. The MoonScope is well constructed, described and accompanied by instructions which explain its usefulness to the scientific method. Whether looking at craters and mountains on the lunar surface or checking out constellations, the richness of the set is tied to the use of the included Activity Journal. Having completed suggested exercises and experiments, you then use words and drawings to document your learnings. You will be startled by your first views of the rings of Saturn and the moons of Jupiter but be ready for some real merrymaking-with-the-moon. Identify specific named features like the Copernicus Crater, see where the lunar module landed back in 1969 near the Apennine Mountains, use your journal to record the phases and changes in the moon over the month. I'm planning on checking out phenomena highlighted on the internet and in other media. For example this June Mercury, Venus and Saturn are all visible for about an hour after sunset. I got this for my grandkids who are coming to town this July, so glad I have it early for this June's stellar fireworks!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program In the days of Ipad's and advanced computer games, very rarely do we encounter a "non-electronic" children's toy that simply captivates our child's attention. This "toy" did just that. However, unlike many other toy's, this toy brings a distinct educational value to the mix.

The MoonScope comes well packaged in such a manner that upon first presentation, my child was enthralled. Assembly was very easy with solid instructions and children can easily help in this regard. While I found the MoonScope well made, I do have a durability concern when used by 5-9 year olds, who can be rough on all products. The focusing knobs also do not operate that smoothly, but it does operate well enough and with a little well placed WD-40, the mechanism was much smoother. I would suggest teaching children to use this product with a little care. I did this by explaining it was really more of a scientific instrument rather than a traditional toy. They got it pretty quick. The LED light came in very handy to read the guide without ruining night vision (you will need two AAA batteries). The included journal and activity guide seem very useful and our daughter immediately took to them.

After some basic initial instruction, my 6 year old daughter was able to use the MoonScope independently. The two provided eyepieces provide varying magnificent and are surprisingly effective. The tripod is very lightweight, so it is important you instruct children to not touch the telescope once it is sighted in to the selected object. I actually attached a sandbag (used to stabilize my photography light stands) to the tripod to provide a little more stability. It seems to work. Perhaps the most important thingthe telescope actually works and works very well. Once sighted in to the moon with the higher magnifying piece, our daughter could not take her eyes off the moon. Afterwards, she went on the Internet to research the moon and look at high resolution images.

In summation, excellent product with a very high educational value.

My 9 year old daughter loves this moonscope. Within minutes of receiving it she was already filling out the journal and planning what she wanted to look at that evening! She took it out the first night with her 7 year old brother and they were identifying different constellations and planets. They are already looking forward to using it hopefully tomorrow night when the weather clears up they already have it lined up outside the back window ready to go for tomorrow and have borrowed a star gazing book from the library to help them.

This is a nice little telescope. The price at Amazon is $46.00. The quality of the piece is a bit iffy. It does everything it claims to do but if you have rambunctious kids, I suspect it will not last very long. The instructions for assembly were adequate. The need for two AAA batteries could be larger on the outside packaging. However since the batteries are not necessary for use of the telescope but just to operate the red LED light, that is not a critical oversight. The LED is for use in keeping your Sky Gazer's journal.

The activity journal is quite good. It gives decent instructions and provides activities to be used with the MoonScope. It will provide a positive learning experience.

The two eyepieces provide a surprising amount of magnification. This feels like an inexpensive toy but provides a more sophisticated magnification than you would expect. If it felt a little more durable it would be five star worthy but it is still a good value for the price.

I ordered these cars for my two-year old grandson because they were BPA free. The set of 7 vehicles was a big hit with him and his twin sister. They were a great size for their little hands, had a good variety of vehicles (airplane, helicopter, bulldozer, jeep, truck, etc.), and were a nice soft plastic with no sharp edges. The white wheels did not mar the window sills where they like to drive them. They seem very sturdy, and are safe for their younger sister who likes to put everything in her mouth. I would definitely order from this company again!

Just the right size and amazing to watch. A perfect desk decoration for any setting. Even if you're not a "globe," person, this is such a unique grown-up toy. Be prepared for it to be handled, It's impossible to resist a hands-on inspection. I have the satellite version and it really does look like a miniature Earth gently rotating.

I first saw Mova globes in a Colorado Pen store (Park Meadows, CO) and was fascinated and surprised that they rotated without any obvious power supply. It's manufactured to extremely high standards and looks very expensive especially if paired with a crystal base. The globe should appear as though it is solid, but rotating as if by magic slowly by itself on the stand. Unfortunately, the unit I received from this Amazon order had an air bubble at the top perhaps because it may have been in a very hot delivery truck during transit in the summer or on the porch where it was left for pickup (the manual references that extreme heat can cause problems). The bubble seems to increase friction and globe stopped turning sporadically during the first few days I had it, and a bubble on top ruins the illusion, so I had to return it. The vendor was excellent, had excellent pricing on this particular unit, and offered to replace it however I decided to buy a Mova globe in person that I saw operating and that had no air bubbles. I've now owned the replacement unit for a month and it works flawlessly. Everyone that sees it is fascinated by it.

There are about 16 different types of globes to choose from, and I initially chose this style of globe because it had no text on it and seemed to have all the oceans in a stylist black color something that matches my personality and decore. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with this particular style of globe after I receive it in person the satellite imagery of the earth on the continents had a static image of cloud cover that doesn't really mean anything. The "black" ocean is actually a very dark blue when sunlight strikes it, and it isn't quite dark enough to hide the inner mechanism under bright light which removes some of the mystique. The absence of text actually became a bit of a liability because people in my family looking at couldn't remember some of the names of some of the areas in the world so it forced us to go to a regular atlas to confirm our knowledge. I ended up replacing this style of Mova globe with one with uniform silver land mass and label text, offset by true black oceans that hide the inner mechanism well. My new globe looks spectacular. I'm really glad I purchased this.

I first saw one of these in a gift shop in Laguna Beach, CA. Was immediately captivated and bought one. I liked it so much I bought another one on Amazon for a friend. It's a great combination of creative technology and nice aesthetics. No batteries--all you need is a little light and some of the earth's magnetic field. The thing looks almost magical as it rotates.

PS I had a question and contacted the vendor. They were responsive and helpful.

We bought the two-pack version of this toy because we had several kids coming to stay. It's a blast. The rockets easily flew 100 feet or more (I'm not good at estimating). The rockets can be aimed to shoot straight up or lower to hit targets. We spent so much time stomping that our legs got tired. The kids who were waiting their turn to shoot the rockets had a great time trying to catch them falling from the sky. They're easy to put together and seem to be very durable. Some of the boys were jumping on the launch pad with both feet, and I don't see any damage.

I've experimented with a wide variety of baby maracas with babies at the library where I work, we use them in baby storytime. I bought two of these for our 1 year old for Christmas, and it's his favorite one so far. He likes to hold it in his is mouth by the ring while he uses other noisemakers in his hands! The sound is excellent, like a "real" maraca. It's easy for grownups (or older kids) to shake out more complex rythms with these, and do subtle changes from soft to louder, slow to fast. It's also the safest I've tried so far: there isn't a long handle babies can gag themselves with. I'd be comfortable giving it to a newborn. It's also very "tight," meaning there isn't a seam down the middle where gunk can get stuck. Very important for toys used by large groups of babies! I wouldn't put it in the dishwasher, or soak it in soapy water, but it's fine being wiped with a soapy sponge and rinsed off. Cheaper maracas get water inside when washed, or they break under heavy use. This one appears unbreakable so far! I'm planning to buy a couple dozen for work!

I really wanted to like this toy, for I like most Parents brand toys, but I should have read other reviews first. First time out of the box and about 6 of the magnets slid down the fridge. My son did like finding the magnets that fit on each card (puzzle-concept), but there is no excuse for a magnet school with several magnets that are faulty! I will probably write to the manufacturer and get the faulty magnets replaced, but for the same money or a few dollars more, my son has really been enjoying the Parents animal hospital toy, with lots of pretend play...if you're wavering, get that. Oh, and it's true that it's hard to fit all magnets and cards inside the box.

I got this for my son when he was about a year old and for the first year or so his favorite way to "play" was to just scatter the pieces everywhere. Fun, huh?

But now he adores this set. I turn the cards over and we play it like a game, he picks a card and tells me what letter it is and then we search for it. He knows almost all his letters already thanks to the work we've done with this!

We've never tried the magnets on the fridge because he has another set of fridge magnets but it would have been awesome if the cards did have magnetic strips in the impressions of the letter so they'd stay attached to the card. But they're still plenty fun the way they are!!!

I bought this for a "Little Brother" (Big Brothers/Big Sisters), to give him a chance to learn about electronics. He is only 13, so building projects together is a must.

I used similar tools for serious product development many years ago. This uses the same basic technology for wiring together components, transistors, and integrated circuits, and has many projects from very simple to very complex. I believe it will provide my little bro many years of fun.

I recommend this for older teenagers with less supervision, or for younger teenagers with some supervision and joint effort. I think it is a little too challenging for must early teens by themselves (unless they are unusual).

Definitely worth the price. You should have seen his face when he opened it! You should have seen his face when the first project worked! And the second... :)

And, if you are looking for something to learn electronics with for yourself, this is the way to go. You can expand later by purchasing your own components to build even more complex circuits!

My little girl is only 16 months but I wanted to expose her to letters and numbers and wanted magnets for her to play with on the refrigerator. They are nice and large so she won't choke on them. I bought these to be used on a magnetic whiteboard. I was able to get 1-2 of each number to stick, and then threw the others away. The students did like watching them slide down the whiteboard while I wasn't watching though!

The magnets are not big enough or strong enough for the size of the numeral. Slightly dissappointed. I bought some letters from another company that were awesome, the magnets covered the entire back of each letter and they were perfect....might be Lakeshore Learning but I am not sure.

Pros: Great big letters that no one can eat. Excellent for babies (my two are one year old). The colors are bold and bright. The magnets work and don't fall out with rough play. I love that it comes in a plastic bucketwhich is almost as big of a hit as the numbers themselves.

Cons: Just the right width for slipping under the fridge and not slipping back out! Keep an eye on what ends up under the fridge. You will probably have to slide the fridge out a few times a week to retrieve the lost magnets.

I just got these a couple of days ago, but I am already so glad I bought them! Printing worksheets uses up a lot of paper and ink, and a lot of the time it is a review sheet so I print things twice. With these pockets we save paper, ink, and I just love that we can reuse both the pockets and worksheets over again later. There are a few printables on the company's website for use also, we especially like the blank clock page. I am a homeschool teacher, I can pass down worksheets from kid to kid with these, and of course the kids love being able to do their math and stuff with markers! How fun!! They clean up nicely too, a slight discoloration is left behind when the kids use a red marker (which of course is their favorite one) but it is not enough o make the product unusable or look bad. I recommend these for all classrooms trying to save money and be greener!

I guess the idea for these is to use them to write on and erase, but I use them as my carrying cases for important documents that I do not want to lose track of in my briefcase. I am constantly working with a number of tools and reports and these make sure that they stay nice, neat, and easily found. Love them!

I love the My First LeapPad system and my son has so much fun using it. Unfortunatly, the SpongeBob Square Pants Best Friend Adventures I purchased was defective. What I first noticed was that the pages were just a tad too wide to fit into the system. I could tell from comparing it to other books that there was extra space on one side. I tried to remedy this myself by shaving off a tiny bit to make it fit into the system. Once it fit and we tried out the book I found that all the sensors or touchpoints were way off, an inch or so in some cases.

I called the companies customer service department and through the conversation also found that the pages were out of order and possibly missing. The gentleman was very nice and helpful and sent me a replacement book. But that book didn't fit! And it had the same problem with the pages being out of order.

I have emailed the company and asked to have a replacement with a completely different title. I think 2 defective books of the same title is enough of a hassle and we will move onto a new one. This was the only book we have had trouble with. All the other titles have fit and worked just fine for us.

Kudos for their customer service department though!
