Review of Hape Little Plane

Customer Ratings:

My daughter went crazy for her airplane.

I love that the wings are attached with stretchy string that collapses.

My daughter is 2 and was excited to get this in the mail. She loves airplanes so I expected her to love this and play with it a lot but the opposite is the case. The toy is great quality but is not played with often even by a airplane lover! It is light weight and perfect for small hands. I love it but my daughter does not use it. It looks cute for room decor but other than that we do not get the use out of it I expected/wanted.

Perfect size for toddlers and very well made. Has survived many falls off our coffee table! Still not sure what the point of the moving wings is supposed to be, but my son loves playing with it.

this toy is even cuter in person and the wings can flap up and down. Well made my son has enjoyed it.

I bought this for my son's airplane-themed nursery. It's high quality and very cute, and I know he'll play with it as he grows. I think it's a little overpriced, but still worth getting.

I did a lot of research before buying this. It's a very solid piece of equipment. I was concerned that the bulb might not be bright enough but it's fine for what I do. Certainly you could spend thousands of dollars and get something that's better but this inexpensive scope is all I need. I can't see anything wrong with it or anything to complain about. I'm very pleased with the quality for less than $300.

I'm glad I didn't spend any money on a darkfield kit. It's not necessary. You can make your own darkfield set up. I switch back and forth in seconds. All you need is clear piece of plastic and a small coin.

If you want to do serious darkfield work you'll need a better scope. This one is fine on 10 and 40 power, but the lighting isn't bright enough to see anything at higher powers.

As with everything from China, buyer beware. Just because I got a nice scope doesn't mean you will. I recommend the scope and believe the chances of getting something defecting is probably low but there's always a chance.

4M Quartz Mining Kit Review

Customer Ratings:

Bought this for my 4 year old son and was amazed at how much he liked it. He spend a good two hours banging, scraping, and polishing to get all the stones (and if you have a 4 year old boy you know 2 hours of focus is a miracle). The brushes are a little useless but still fun. We have given several to friends as gifts and heard great things from all of them. There are a lot of stones in each block!!! The identification chart that comes with it is great for learning about the more common minerals. I highly recommend this for a rainy day activity or something easy to take on a vacation. Only caveat is that it makes a lot of dust. Either do it outside or make sure to put down something to aid in cleanup (and you may want a bath afterwards).

Buy 3D solar system kit

Customer Ratings:

I bought this set for my 10 year old daughter and she loves it. The planets are easy to snap together and there is plenty of paint. My favorite feature is the glow in the dark paint. It can be painted on after the regular paint dries, or you can mix it with the colored paint for a different effect. It didn't glow as bright as I'd hoped, but that wasn't a big deal. The paint dried surprisingly fast, we were able to apply two coats of colored paint and the glow in the dark stuff in under two hours. I would recommend using a smaller paintbrush than the one included. We used a q-tip for the details. The sun and Saturn come with plastic rings, and there is even a poster of the solar system. The mobile was pretty easy to put together, and the instructions are very clear, my daughter did most of it by herself. We have it hanging on the ceiling in my daughter's room, so no one can touch it. When we were hanging it up, I accidentally scratched Pluto and some of the paint came off. Overall this is a great toy. I would recommend this toy for older children. I can't see a five year old painting details on the little planets and putting together the mobile.

I added this toy to my son's xmas list. With much luck he did get it; and we are pleased ! I would not say that it's a "fun to play with" toy but the entertainment value still exists. The planets are large enough without being overbearing up on the ceiling. They glow at night..which is the best part !! At 36 years old I can't wait for nighttime to hang in my sons room to check out the planets! The stars the set comes with are perfect. They are NOT the bulky plastic ones that can be seen day or night. They are paper stickers that disappear during the day (on the celing they do anyway) The planets come with name stickers which adds educational value. My son is five and LOVES, LOVES, LOVES these planets. I say get 'em !!

Best Deals for 3D solar system kit

The 3D Solar System Kit by Toysmith is a good educational/learning tool that introduces children to the world of astronomy. This planetary system includes spheres representing the eight planets and the sun, sized in relative order (not to scale). It hangs from the ceiling as a mobile unit and includes special glow in the dark paint for added fun.

This solar system kit comes completely unassembled and part of the enjoyment for youngsters is the application of the paint. There are two strips of paint included with several different colors. This allows kids the chance to explore their creative side. Some kids will choose to paint the planets according to their actual color, such as painting the planet Mars red. Others will mix and match and create all sorts of different color combinations. Kids will enjoy this part of the process almost as much as they will enjoy looking at the completed mobile itself.

Once the fun of painting is over, it will then be time to assemble the pieces together. This is easily the most frustrating part of the process and depending on the ages of your kids, you may very well have to complete this step for them. The reason this is so frustrating is because of the very small size of the hooks and the rectangular pieces that are anchored into the spheres. The tiny hooks and even tinier rectangular pieces have a small hole in the middle through which you have to thread the fishing line. This takes time and patience and you have to tie the ends securely enough that the line won't come loose. A single knot isn't good enough. You need to make two knots if you want the line to stay in place. The pieces are so tiny, many young children will be unable to complete the task and even many adults will grow frustrated. The manufacturer should rethink this aspect and, if nothing else, increase the size of these pieces, in order to make them easier to work with.

Another possible trouble spot with this solar system module is the fragility of the pieces. The mobile looks interesting hanging from the ceiling and its lightweight design means it will slowly turn, with the slightest amount of air. However, because the pieces are so light and fragile, you have to keep the mobile away from wind/air sources. The air movement from a fan, for example, could be enough to make the planetary bodies come apart and/or cause the nylon string to become untied. Even the air movement from a heat duct could be enough to cause problems. It's best to place the mobile far out of the reach of small children. If little ones can easily touch the mobile, the constant handling will cause the pieces to fall apart.

Taken as a whole, the 3D Solar System Kit by Toysmith is still good educational toy for kids that introduces them to the world of astronomy. Assembling the tiny pieces can really try your patience and the fragile nature of this mobile solar system limits its quality. However, it still has enough positive points to earn a slight recommendation.

Honest reviews on 3D solar system kit

It was very easy to paint. The planets are in two pieces so they sit nicely on the table while you are painting. There is plenty of paint. The planets are labeled on the inside, so you can make sure you are painting the right one the right color & so you put them together right. It was easy to put together and hang. It comes with glow & the dark paint, so at night it glows in my daughters room. She loves it. I would highly recommend this.

Out of the box, this toy was a big hit. It was so neat that touching other people made music (or percussive sounds, or animal noises) and my son loved it. He kept wanting to poke my nose, touch my arms, touch my legs. He experimented with tapping fast and slow, and cycled through all the different sounds. Touched me AND my husband at once, then touched us in succession.

But then he was done with it.

And he hasn't been interested in the toy since.

The problem is that it has lost its novelty and really, that's all this toy has going for it. There's no imagination involved, no creative process going on. It's not an open-ended toy at all.

So now, it just sits on his book shelf. I've tried to entice him to play with it but no luck so far.

Oh well.

Perfect toy for different ages to interact! My twenty year olds play with their younger cousins with this for hours and they all had a blast. The eighteen month old likes to play with the sounds all on his own too. Great toy!

Best Deals for Neurosmith Musical Touch

You can really play this game by yourself, but of course it's almost more fun with others.

If you have one hand on a contact point and touch another contact point with the other hand then it will still make the sound. If playing with others you have to be sure to touch their skin in order for it to work.

When the setting is on a musical song it will play each note when you touch someone, but when it gets to a certain point it will stop and you have you set it up again. If playing it on the instrument sound setting or the animal sound setting, then it will stay on unless it has not been played with for a couple minutes and then it will turn off on its own.

There is no power switch that I am aware of it turns off on it's own after a few minutes if not in use.

Review of VTech - V.Smile Smart keyboard

Customer Ratings:

I bought this keyboard for my 5 yr. old grandson. He knows his letters and letter sounds very well. I thought this could be a good learning tool and the next step in his learning process. This would be OK for a 7 or 8 yr. old but at five it is just tedious for him. The games also dont give clear directions. The age range os decieving. It is just too complicated for a child that cant read fairly well. He has been playing his V Smile for 2 years and loves it. He has both the pocket version and the regular one. This would be a 5 star for an older child. Ill exchange it for something else.

I bought this because we have every other V.smile toy and it seemed like a fun addition to our set. Our V.smile is mainly played with by my 3 year old but I was hoping my 10 year old would like this because she likes learning to type. Well my 10 and 12 year olds can't put this down! They LOVE the games. This has A LOT to do on it. They can practice typing with fun games, there are arcade games, they can learn to write emails and there is also a feature where you can earn animals for your collection and they love that (sort of like the neopets website). There is so much to do. My 3 year old plays around with it but its really too advanced for her. An 8 year old neighbor was over last night and played with it for 2 hours! She loved it so much her mom went home and ordered it too! I think this might just be the best v.smile accessory yet (although the kids still LOVE the art studio too). I would recommend this for ages 5-10 (I think my 12 year old is a bit unusual that she likes it!). Great product. I don't write many reviews but the kids just loved this so much that I had to!

My 5 & 7 year old boys enjoy this keyboard. It's better than most qwerty advertised keyboards out there because this one has the shift key on both sides. You simply plug it into your v-smile & play, no batteries required. And it works like an extra controller... they can play all the other games using the controls on the keyboard. The tutorial for typing is great as well as all the other fun activities. And as always, you can order with Amazon with a peace of mind cuz their return proceedures are the best!

Thanks!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I picked up this sweet Photo Bug Electronic Learning Toy to give to my 2 yr old granddaughter at Christmas. She lives 1000 miles away from the rest of the family, so I thought I would put photos of her grandparents, aunt, cousins, etc. and have each leave a sweet message with the photo. I want her to understand that she is part of a bigger family, and thought this would be an excellent way for her to get to know her long distance family. This product is very colorful and would fit beautifully in any nursery/child's room. It is sturdy and should stand up under the tough play of a 2 year old. I like the fact that when not used by the child as a "book", it can be set on a dresser as a photo frame. This is just a perfect gift for any grandparent to give to a young grandchild.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Babies and young children love seeing faces and hearing voices of people they love!

I ordered this product because my husband's family doesn't live nearby, and it's a great way for my daughter to get comfortable with their faces as well as their voices even though she only sees them a few times per year.

This "photo album" is cute and colorful. Little ones love opening and closing it. There are tabs on each page that crackle etc, to get them even more interested.

There's a cute giggle when you open/close the album. After you put batteries in, recording the voices and inserting the photos isn't too difficult. If your little one still likes to chew on things, the photos are fairly safe from drool although it is not waterproof.

I would recommend this for almost any baby or young child, and especially if you have family that live far away!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program In essence, this is an 8 picture frame for a baby. You can record messages onto it and the 'pages' can be flipped. It also stands nicely for display. This is a very cute idea for families who live long distances or aren't seen very often, but you want a baby to recognize.

Honest reviews on TOMY Sweet Messages Photo Bug Electronic Learning Toy

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The toy looks just like the photos, so you can see that yes, it is very colorful and fun looking. The tabs which stick out from each frame have a very crinkly substance inbetween the fabric which makes them fun to play with. Frankly, these generated as much fascination as the talking pictures. The from cover has a small mirror your child can look into I used this to say "this is Debbie" and carried that through with "this is Grandma" etc. The body of the bug is where you install 3 batteries. The end cap unscrews, which I thought was a good idea so a child doesn't inadvertently pull the tail off and the batteries fall out. In order to put the photos into the frame the instructions tell you to stick a screwdriver into the corner of the frame closest to the bug body and lift up. You have to jam that screwdriver in almost half inch, which I was afraid would bust the frame..when you angle the screwdriver handle away from the bug body the idea is the screwdriver will lift up a little latch and this latch also propels the clear plastic photo protectors up. OK, if you can successfully do this, pull the plastic out and reinsert the plastic you're much more capable than I am. I could not make the process work for me. I ended up grabbing the plastic insert with the thumb and forefinger of one hand and 'forcing' it up, past the latch. I was able to pull this up about 1 inch (although you could have taken the entire plastic insert out, I didn't want to risk not being able to get it back in) I inserted my photos which you should have trimmed to a 4" wide by 6" length maximum, I trimmed mine a tad bit less so I wouldn't have bulk at the sides. The photo sleeve went back in with no problem. Overall I do like the photo bug, and my borrowed young child enjoyed it very much. It was not difficult to record sound. I would recommend, especially for grandparents etc who live far away. The flaw for me was the release latch, which I could not get to work. Be aware that you can pull the plastic photo sleeve up using gentle pressure and you will save yourself alot of frustration. I rated the toy rwo stars for education as I'm not sure how educational it is. I suppose you could talk about colors?...I felt it was more to keep your child aware of relatives they don't often see.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is the best kid photo album ever! My 19-month-old niece LOVES looking at photographs, whether they be on an iPhone, hanging on the hall, or in a photo album. She has a kid photo album that she keeps in the car to look at during road trips, but that has nothing on this photo toy. With this album you can have the people whose pictures are displayed in the album record messages that play when the child looks at the photos. Each audio clip can be up to eight seconds in length, which really is plenty of time. Also, the toy itself is quite durable and easy for a child to use. I do wish you could include more than eight photos, but what are you gonna do? It's pretty awesome overall, and a big hit with the little one!!!

Kid O Sorting House Review

Customer Ratings:

We gave this to our 1 year-old daughter. She loves the colors and enjoys taking the shapes out of the door and putting them back in the door (I guess that's easier than matching the shapes to the holes). My only complaint is that everything is plastic, so when the shapes drop back into the house and when she shakes the whole thing it makes quite a racket. We were thinking of gluing felt to the interior of the house so that it is quieter.

Cheap BASIC GEOMETRIC SOLIDS SET OF 6

Customer Ratings:

The problem is not in the product, it is I have no idea how small or large these pieces are. I was excepting it to be bigger but of course when it came, it is way too small for my use. I think they should have give the size of the product in the description. Going into my trash.

The product came quickly and there was no issues with payment. One problem I did have was that one of the pieces was chipped (the "cylindrical triangle" piece).

Best Deals for BASIC GEOMETRIC SOLIDS SET OF 6

I bought these for my 5 yr. tactile-learner son, who LOVES wood building blocks, to ensure he got to handle and touch the geometric shapes before having to recognize and name them by sight alone on two-dimensional kindergarten worksheets. I named each shape for him once and the first question he asked was "Can I play with them?" This is exactly what I hoped for because play is learning so I put them into his happy hands and he was off to build. While he insists the sphere is a "ball", he's got the names down for the rest of them. He'll say things like "Where is the pyramid? I want it for the top" or "the cone is kind of like the pyramid but its got a circle on the bottom, not a square". All this from 1 minute of me telling him their names and the rest of the time him being allowed to play with them. They are holding up to his play well and staying pretty nice, even the thinner pointy tips on the cone and pyramid! He's asked me twice what the name of the sphere is again, before rolling it down the hall or using it as a wrecking ball, but that's how he learns best! This was a great set for us and one I would gladly buy again!

My 3 year old just received this for a birthday gift. His 7 year old sister has been playing with it as much as he has.

It was an instant hit with both.

This is a great fine motor skills activity, as well as color matching and even creative building.

It contains 64 "snaps" they are a great "chubby" size for little hands and seem VERY durable with no conrenrs for breaking, even if stepped on.

It has a wooden peg board to set the picture cards in and pop the "snaps" into.

I think the board is fairly sturdy for this price.

It has 10 reversable picture cards. One side is brighly colored to work on color matching the other side black and white to let the kids color as they want.

The cards seems to be a heavy paper material. Could be ripped easily if mishandled.

The box is worth mentioning because it is not a "complete" box.

It come with a cardbaord box bottom, but is covered with plastic wrap.

This means that after you open it, you have no cover to help contain all the pieces, or stack nicely with other games, toys.

I have mixed feelings about this toy, the pictures is on cardboard sheets,(I don't know how well that will last) There is one wooden pegboard, with large plastic pegs (easy for small hands to hold) But the pegs fit fairly snug and might cause frustration . But all that I think I could have live with if the toy came in a wooden tray-box like the rest of M&D toys, this toy came in a cardboard box that surely is not going to last and where would you keep all the pieces then ?

Best Deals for Melissa & Doug Sort and Snap Color Match

My 2 yo daughter received this as a bday gift. She immediately took a liking to it, as did we. I really believe it helped her learn her primary colors faster. However, I give this product only four stars -versus five; because although, it is educational, there aren't enough color variety amongst the pegs. The pegs consist of four colors blue, green, yellow and red. It would have been great if Melissa & Doug included other common colors for the pegs, such as orange, purple, black, white, etc esp since they have so many different pictures that kids can snap & match. Once my daughter "mastered" the four colors, she lost alot of interest in playing with this toy.

Also, as other reviewers have already mentioned, the packaging for this toy could be alot better. In its current state, there's no container or section just for the pegs; so one could easily lose a peg or two or three. There's no lid or cover for the box, either. So be careful when storing this toy. If it tips out, there's nothing to hold back the contents from spilling over.

Despite the above issues, I would still recommend this toy for its fun & educational value.

Honest reviews on Melissa & Doug Sort and Snap Color Match

I went back and forth about purchasing this for months and finally broke down and bought it for my daughter for her 3rd birthday and I'm so glad that I did. She has played with it numerous times already and my 5 year old son loves it as well. She hasn't had any trouble snapping the pieces into place and can pull them back out just as easily. I love that it gives her the opporunity for independent play unlike some puzzles that she has that she needs help with. I homeschool my 13 year old so it's great to pull out when I need to have some one on one time with him for a lesson while she plays on her own with something that is beneficial to her as well.

I bought this for my 2 year old son who loves puzzles and we love Melissa and Doug products. My son was excited to open this whwn it came but lost interest very quickly. The pictures are brightly colored and the pegs go in pretty easily. I dont like the fact that the pictures are heavy paper it seems they may rip over time and if you dont have them on right the pegs might damage the picture. The box it comes in im afraid it will not last long for storage and then I have no idea how I will store it. Overall this is nice educational toy I'm hoping my son likes it better as he gets older. better box and stronger pictures
