I bought this for my gifted 5.5yr old who had mastered the earlier books. He loves it and my husband and I get a kick out of playing too. We felt this was a lot of puzzles for the price after some comparison shopping. My only complaint is that unlike the earlier books which allow you to set the question number on the correct answer picture, these use a number coding strategy for both the questions and answers. This is somewhat confusing because both are numbered 1-12 and you have to keep track of whether the tiles or the tray spots correspond to questions and the answers. For instance if the answer to question 1 is 5 you have to remember to put tile 1 on spot 5 of the controller and not the reverse. Perhaps this is a good added mental challenge for some but it can frustrate young ones who want to focus on the questions themselves. My son is handling it okay though and I expect these to entertain him for quite awhile.

I also purchased the younger conplete series of this set, the Bambino. I am a former educator Grandma, that babysits 4 days a week.

It is such a success as our daily "game" station, that I knew that I wanted this next step up series as the kids get bigger.

Pretty amazing company. I bought the whole set, eventhough we might not be using it for 1/2 a year and beyond that, eventually daily.

I considered it an investment for a child you love.(children can even take turns)

I am grateful that there are still a few things in this world for kids, that are actually well made, quiet, self motivating, promote critical thinking skill sets, with a slight challenge, and immediate success kit all rolled into one activity!

I love love love this product! I started off my older boy with BambinoLuk when he was 3 yrs 9 mths and we've never looked back. He progressed from BambinoLuk to MiniLuk in 3 mths (when he turned 4) and 9 mths later (at 4 yrs 9 mths), he moved on to MiniLuk Advance which is meant for kids aged 5/8 onwards. To up the ante, except for the really challenging exercises, I do not explain how each exercise is to be done but leave him to infer the logic underpinning each exercise by studying the example provided on each page. And Im glad to note that he hasnt encountered any major issues to date. Also, although I was aware that it is recommended for the controller to be placed on the book, I had requested for my boys to place the controller alongside the book which increased the difficulty level since not only does the child need to locate the answer on the book, there is the additonal step of transposing that answer onto the correct position on the controller. Seeing first-hand the multiple benefits of these books on my soon-to-be 5 year old, I started his younger brother on it when he 2 yrs 3 mths and he has since graduated to MiniLuk.

This is a great product and I highly recommend it to parents of high ability kids! :)
