This is a great coloring book to use with the Do-A-Dot paints or with markers or crayons. The pages are nice and thick, so it works well with paints. The pages are perforated and tear out nicely. Some of the pictures incorporate dots that are the same size as the Do-A-Dot paints, but it's really not very specific to those paints and can be considered to be a general coloring book made with thicker-than-usual paper.
There are about 15 pages with pictures of single dinosaurs drawn clearly with thick black lines and the name of the dinosaur printed at the bottom of the picture. These pictures are larger and simpler than the illustration on the cover of the book, so it's very well-suited to toddlers and pre-schoolers who aren't ready for more detailed coloring books yet. There are a few empty landscape pictures at the end and several pages of smaller dinosaurs that you can cut out and use to decorate the landscapes. My son is young, so we just stick with the big dinosaurs for now. I think the pages would xerox really well because of the quality of the paper and the style of the drawings, so you could easily get much more use out of the book.
My 2 1/2-year-old son loves dinosaurs and really enjoys his Do-A-Dot paints, so this is a great activity for us. We also have the truck one, which he loves, too.

My son loved the pictures, but the dot paint pens went though the back and onto the table.
I probably would not buy this book for paint pens again.

dissapointed because i thought it was continue dot to dot book. instead my kid was given a blank page at the back to trace back what ever that is on the front page.

My friends, who also happen to be grandparents, are somewhat taken back by the cost of these books. They keep pointing me in the direction of the dollar stores and telling me to get my coloring books for the kids there. However, for water coloring there is nothing better than these do a dot books, the pages never soak through, they never get holes in them. The kids also use them for the do a dots from time to time but the primary use around here is water colors. They don't work well for magic markers because they are porus and soak the marker right up. To control the cost I tear out the sheets one at a time and make sure the kids don't waste them. I have bought just about all of them and I particularly like this dinosar book because of it's bold drawings.
