I purchased this for my son last yr--he's a SPACE FREAK! He's LOVES it, so if your kid LOVES space & solar system stuff, they should LOVE this!
HOWEVER!: I would LIKE TO POINT OUT, It only comes with *8* PLANETS--NOT 9!! (Pluto is **NOT** INCLUDED!) Also, personally, i would not spend more than $20-$30 for it (which you can usually FIND in most toy places or even online places) mostly b/c,
The item does seem a bit fragile-the arms holding the planets are, anyway... altho my son's personally has never broken--at least not yet!-it doesn't seem like it would take too much if it were bumped the wrong way or with the wrong object.... thankfully, it goes on the CEILING where it's most likely to AVOID such mishaps! lol
Overall, i think it is a pretty *GOOD* product--as long as you don't spend too much $$ for it!

Best LeapFrog iQuest Handheld Deals
I have math tests nonstop at my school and this really helped me out. I would really recommend Mind Station connector (sold separately) to download chapters to a cartridge. It feels like you are playing a game with the music in the background and it gives you time to think and when you are ready it shows you the choices. If you don't get it on the first time, it gives you a short reminder of how to solve it.
I keep all my addresses in this and the dictionary is really helpful. I didn't know studying could be so much fun. You can even take the faceplate off and have it just be silver.
If you want it to be more advanced than buy a harder cartridge. They even sell a test prep SAT which will be helpful to me in the future.
If you want your child to look forward to studying, I would consider this item. I have been using this since my mom bought it for me 2 years ago.
It's a little pricey, ... for the IQuest and Mindstation, and the 4MB catridges are [cheap], but you only need one or two per child as they can be erased and reused for different subjects or different chapters as your child works their way through the textbook material. There's also a small fee to keep connecting to the website once the 6 mo trial expires, .... So far we feel it's money well spent.
It has been well worth the investment.

As with any educational product of this type, there is a lot you can get out of it if you want to. I purchased one last year for my daughter in 6th grade and got a lot of use out of it. By being able to download questions from the books she was using, she always had a handy review with her and was one step ahead of the class. It also comes in handy when they forget to bring their books home. We travel a lot with sports and this is a very good tool to use in the car to study. She will be using this through 8th grade and loves it. I am now in the process of ordering another one for my younger daughter who is starting 5th grade this year.Best Deals for LeapFrog iQuest Handheld
As a parent of 5th and 7th grade children, I was interested in researching the IQuest. Initially it was very confusing as the companion products, being the MindStation, various math and science catridges, and blank catridges for use with mindstation, aren't really well explained as they related to each other. I wasn't sure if I needed to buy the entire lot, or just a few pieces. After viewing the leapfrogtoys.com website, and buying the IQuest and Mindstation package, I determined the best way to go is to buy the two pieces of hardware, mentioned above, and then some of the blank 4MB catridges. This enables the user to download specific textbook material, chapter by chapter, and then "play" with this stuff in the Iquest. It is much more helpful than buying the generic math and science catridges advertised for grades 5 8. The Mindstation internet connector is easy to set up and use, and it's easy to find your child's textbook and download the appropriate chapters. The kids are finding the Iquest fun to use and I think it will be helpful, particularly in Math and Science. It's a little pricey, ... for the IQuest and Mindstation, and the 4MB catridges are [cheap], but you only need one or two per child as they can be erased and reused for different subjects or different chapters as your child works their way through the textbook material. Honest reviews on LeapFrog iQuest Handheld
For my son's last b'day, he went to look for a gameboy type of toy but when he saw iquest, he chose that. He has had it for over 6 months now and it is his constant companion. He was in second grade when we got it and he has already mastered the 6-8 grade science cartridges and is working on social studies now. It is fun way to study and definetly lot more meaningful way of spending time then playing gameboy. We recently decided to get the Mind Station also to expand the iquest capability. It has been well worth the investment.

IQUEST IS A WONDERFUL WAY FOR MY 6TH AND 8TH GRADERS TO STUDY MAIN IDEAS FROM THEIR SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS. FINALLY, SOMEONE CREATED THE TECHNOLOGY TO DOWNLOAD DIRECTLY FROM TEXTBOOKS AND HELP STUDENTS TO REVIEW AND PRACTICE VIA THE IQUEST HANDHELD. WE PREFER TO USE THE BLANK MEMORY CARTRIGES TO DOWNLOAD CURRENT CHAPTERS. I HAVE TO ADMIT I WAS SKEPTICAL AT FIRST, BUT AFTER USING THIS FOR A FEW MONTHS,I CAN HONESTLY TELL YOU THAT IT IS A PURCHASE WELL MADE. THIS TRAINS STUDENTS HOW TO TAKE TESTS WHILE SHOWING THEM WHAT THE KEY POINTS OF THE CHAPTER WERE.WE OWN THE MIND STATION WHICH MAKES DOWNLOADING A SNAP ON TO THE IQUEST HANDHELD. THE ONLY PROBLEM WE'VE EXPERIENCED IS A COUPLE OF THE BLANK MEMORY CARTRIGES DIDN'T GET RECOGNIZED BY THE MIND STATION. WE HAD TO EXCHANGE FOR NEW DISKS. A GREAT STUDY TOOL THAT MAKES LEARNING MORE INTERESTING. A GREAT BUY.Tuesday, November 4, 2014

I like when lesser-known creatures get the honor of a replica, and I like when an unique action pose is used. But there is a risk for these companies with both, and this time the results were less than stellar. The sculpt is good, but the paint is merely safe. That would be OK if there were other points of interest about this creature, but the only thing that gets my attention is the strange posture. What the heck is it doing? About to be sick? Choking up a fur ball? Ducking to avoid an old girlfriend? Assuming the fetal position after some bad news? The most interesting thing about this gut is figuring out his psych profile.
I expect they saw this one facing off with some smaller plant eater, but it's not easy to do. My son puts different little vegetarians in front and it still just looks like acrocanthosaurus just bumped his head or something (you can almost see him trying to rub his head with his sawed-off little arms and cursing).
Four stars for making a new realistic animal available in some other position than attention. But I wouldn't rush to put this guy in you stable unless just want one of everything, or you have all of the hundred other better ones.
The education value is high. Even my 5 year old knows that dinosaurs and humans did not live at the same time!

I bought a bunch of these over several years for my nephew who was into dinosaurs. (Now, not so much.) He liked them fine and played with them fine, but I didn't get the impression from his mom or from what I saw that he loved these any more than he loved the cheap ones you get at like Dollar Tree or WalMart. They all went into the same Bucket O Dinos and got dumped in the dirt the same, got dumped in the bathtub the same, slept in his bed the same (ouch) etc. And he doesn't seem any more knowledgeable about dinosaurs than any other kid his age either, though I grant you he doesn't seem to think they shot lasers out of their eyes or got captured into a Pokeball or whatever either. I would buy them again for my own son but probably not for anyone else's because there are other toys where it looks like you get more for your money.Best Deals for Safari Ltd Carnegie Collection- Acrocanthosaurus

Sight Words In A Flash - Set 1; Grades K-1; no. EP-2315 Reviews
My children have learned a lot fromt these sight words and we have turned it into a game. The only thing is they tear easiy off the rings, they need to be laminated if you want them to last so that is why I gave it 4 stars

My daughter is 4yrs old and uses the Sight Words In A Flash. What I like about them is they are pretty sizeable--larger & wider than a stack of playing cards, it doesn't use animations or cartoons to aid the child in recognizing the word and it's on a ring that opens & closes to mix the order, remove or add additional words. The ring also allows you to easily take the Sight Words outside the home. There are times we will ride in the car and work on the Sight Words. Since they're on the ring, when she gets out the car, she doesn't have to shuffle a pile of flashcards & try to clean it up; the ring keeps the cards in neat order.Best Deals for Sight Words In A Flash - Set 1; Grades K-1; no. I love this product. First, I read I Can Read Books to my child. Then I introduce the words that were presented in the book by putting them into a separate category instead of sifting through the key ring to find words that belong in the same category. The words are separated by color cards, not by how their relation. I find that she learns the words quicker this way; that is, when they are related to her books we read.Honest reviews on Sight Words In A Flash - Set 1; Grades K-1; no. EP-2315

Valencia Classical Kit 1/2 Size Left Handed with DVD Reviews
I teach guitar. I have one of these Valencia classical guitars in the 1/4 size, and I recommend this guitar to my students. This guitar is an excellent value for the beginning guitarist, or anyone who wants an inexpensive, playable, decent sounding guitar. They aren't concert instruments, but they do play well and stay in tune (as much as any nylon string guitar stays in tune). The tone is very good for an instrument that costs less than $300. The overall workmanship is clean and smooth, and the string spacing and action is correct. This guitar isn't gorgeous, the rosette is the decal you would expect to find on a cheap guitar. No inlays here, but for the price it is an attractive, functional instrument. This guitar is an excellent value.

Guitar arrived in original box which was slightly damaged due to transport. Luckily, guitar was fine and undamaged when opened. I have to say that I was impressed with the finish, size, and general assembly. For this rather inexpensive option for my 4-year-old daughter, it is of very good quality. The polished wood finish is smooth and with no blemishes. The base strings are of nylon while the higher pitched strings are metal. This is better for younger fingers, especially when kids are just starting out with strumming, plucking, and learning chords. It is also a perfect size for children players. My daughter can sit comfortably while placing the guitar in her lap with no problems. Granted, after paying for shipping, the price was very inexpensive (~$50 when I purchased it). I know that store retailers were having a hard time giving me advice about where to buy such a guitar (a left-handed one no less), so this online purchase was the best option. I have no regrets with this purchase. It is a good quality guitar, sound is bright with good tone, easy to tune (may have to tune every once in a while due to quality of strings) and the wood/construction are very well crafted (it actually looks and feels like a more expensive guitar-not like the toy store brands you see at popular retailers). Very happy with this purchase. In terms of its accessories, they are very elementary especially the case (vinyl cover) and the DVD. I ended up buying a guitar stand from a local guitar shop so the guitar can sit next to my two full-size guitars.Best Deals for Valencia Classical Kit 1/2 Size Left Handed with DVD

Litiholo Hologram Kit - Make 3D Laser Holograms with "Instant Reviews
OK, so ever since I was a kid, I loved lasers and holograms. I wrote research papers on them, was amazed when National Geographic had an *actual hologram* on its cover (long before every credit card had one!), and when I went to Europe, I bought a little animated white-light holo and thought it was the coolest thing in the world!
I grew up (well, marginally) and still love lasers. When laser pointers came out, I had to get one just to play with the laser light. The one thing I never did, though, was make a hologram. The setup was difficult and expensive, and even that was easier than developing the film once it was exposed.
Then by accident I ran across an ad for a hologram kit. I was pretty doubtful at first, finding all sorts of "hologram" toys that really had nothing to do with making holographs. But a review by a physics teacher convinced me that this might be real.
And that is why I am writing this review to let you know that this is the real deal.
My wife bought me the kit for Christmas. While she and the kids went out to look at lights, I made two holograms.
Following the instructions was easy step by step all the way. The kit comes with a red laser diode that you hook up to a battery pack via alligator clamps. After removing the lens from the laser diode, the beam naturally spreads out. A big clamp serves as a heatsink so that thermal changes don't shift the laser wavelength during the exposure and ruin the hologram. All of this fits into a fixture and plastic base that fits together like puzzle pieces to insure you get the right angle.
The first clever bit (for holo geeks anyway) about this kit is that you can use the spread-out beam as both object and reference beam, so no setting up beam splitters or special mirrors with tight tolerances. Just insure when you are setting up your subject such that the object is illuminated by the beam and that the rest of the beam falls on the glass practice plate. (My first two holos came out well, but any place on the film that is shadowed from the beam does not make interference patterns, and thus has no hologram information on it and is blank.)
Once the laser is on for five minutes, it is stable. I had set up in the downstairs bathroom, so I closed the door and turned out the light. Using the provided blue LED as a darkroom light, I continued following the directions. I placed the folded black card in between the laser and the object (an also-included toy car). Then you wait 3 minutes to make sure any small motions die out.
The second clever bit is that the "film" is actually a small rectangle of glass that develops itself when exposed to red light. This makes it almost impossible to screw up the exposure I am not even sure you can overexpose it. Since only red light exposes it, and exposing it "develops" it, it is pretty tolerant. Far more tolerant than B&W film. The film glass fits in a slit and leans against a tab to insure it stays stable at the right angle. There is a thin sheet of plastic covering (I assume) the photosensitive emulsion. Just put that side away from the laser.
Then comes the hardest part. Once you lift up the black card, you have to remain motionless as the film is exposed, about ten minutes. No talking or moving around. (I shifted my weight a few times and my timer beeped, none of which had an effect. Next time I am bringing in a chair and removing and replacing the shutter while sitting down!)
And then...you are done. Replace the black card that serves as a shutter, remove your object, turn on the lights. Remove the shutter card and look through the glass and you will see a three-dimensional image of whatever you placed in the area. The unexposed parts of the film will be blueish, but that fades on exposure to normal light and doesn't affect anything as far as I could tell.
My first holo was, as recommended, the toy car. Re-illuminating it with laser light (or any monochrome source, like the blue LED) in the same fixture produces an image that looks identical to what you saw when you were exposing the film. As with any real transmission hologram, you can move your head up and down and around to see the different sides, look through the car window, even see the car reflected in the plastic base. Even a dog hair that got caught on the side in the exposure shows up. It has now been a week and a half sitting on a desk in the light, and the holo remains stable.
I got a little more ambitious with the second holo. I grabbed some crystal ball prisms you know, the ones you hang from a sucker on a window to make rainbows in the sun. I also grabbed a loupe (a small magnifying glass) and arranged these on the holo stage. In my second hologram, as you move your head around, the facets on the crystals flash and you can look into the magnifying lens and see the crystal on the other side magnified in the loupe. (Holograms preserve not only the intensity of the light, but the direction, so you can see the magnified image move around just as if it were sitting there!)
Now on that second one is when I noticed that if an object makes a shadow on the film, you get nothing, so the bottom quarter of this holo is missing. I am planning on re-doing it with this in mind, because it is just so freaking cool.
One note you cannot use anything living, even a plant, as a subject, since whatever it is cannot move by even a half wavelength of red light (somewhere around 650 nanometers) during the ten minute exposure, so no holograms of your kids yet!
Since it is laser light, I don't recommend giving it to kids too young to appreciate what it can do to your eyes. It is just a normal laser pointer, but staring at it (or any other laser) could damage a retina. However, under my supervision, I would have no trouble with either my 9 or 12 year-old doing their own hologram.
If, that is, I give them a turn. :)
Replacement film can be purchased for about $65 for 20. The kit includes 20 film plates. You can buy a "tower" to add-on if you want to make holograms that show up in white light (reflection holograms). I haven't tried that yet, myself, but it looks easy enough to set up.
So this is the real deal a genuine hologram that you can make in just a few minutes and (if I am any example) probably have to try pretty hard to mess it up.
I finally have holograms I made myself, and I am constantly looking for things that would be cool for another one. (If you Google Litiholo you can find other videos of the holograms, but videos don't do them justice. Using the eye, you don't see the red "haze" nearly as much as the camera shows.)
Now that I have holograms, where is my flying car?!?
Enjoy!
You do not need access to an optical table to use this kit. Any sturdy table in a room where the lights can be turned off should work. There are no lenses, beam splitters, or other complicated optical components. The hologram film does not require wet chemicals for development.
Setting up the kit is very simple. There is a plastic holder for the low power laser and battery. There is another plastic holder for the hologram film and your object. The two holders fit together nicely to assure that all of your components are in the correct location. You get a blue or green darkroom light so you can see what you are doing when you turn the lights off. Make sure you do not open the box containing the hologram film unless the room is completely dark except for your darkroom light and the blocked off laser light.
The finished holograms are very nice as long as you pick an object that is suitable for making a hologram. Make sure your object is visible under red light and that it does not block a lot of the light hitting the hologram film. The reconstructed image that results from illuminating the hologram with the laser is very impressive.
The Litiholo kit changed all that. Every single hologram we recorded came out perfect, every time, with almost no effort. And they were really impressive!
I *strongly* recommend the reflection upgrade kit. This kit allows you to make holograms that can be viewed in sunlight; without this kit, the holograms are only viewable when they are illuminated with a laser. This makes them far less cool. The reflection kit includes an extra box of film, which makes it a bargain. BUY THE UPGRADE KIT and you'll thank me for that advice. If you don't make reflection holograms, your kids won't be able to take the holograms to school and show their friends!
We were able to make each hologram with a 5-minute exposure. We might have been able to get away with shorter times but we didn't try.
Finally, the guys at Litiholo were so helpful and they answered all my questions quickly and thoroughly. I was under considerable time pressure and they were incredibly responsive. They gave me far more support than I deserved!

This product works extremely well. They give careful, detailed instructions, and the product works even better than I thought it would, though I was slightly confused when assembling it for the first time. They give you a toy car for your first attempt, and that one is one of my best. I recommend using a small dental mirror or a small lens, if you can find one. I think these are great flashcards they don't have the English at all on them, so your child isn't translating (and neither are you!) you just assign a word to the picture in your target language Spanish. The only flaws are 1)no pronunciation guide and 2)words on front and back, so you can't quiz yourself, or any child that can read, so you might pair them with a curriculum that includes a CD like Flip Flop Spanish.
Everything is in Spanish without translations and that is the real and best way to learn any language!
Thank you!

CENTIMETER CUBES 500-PK 10 COLORS Reviews
They are what they say they are, just plastic cubes. Good for teaching or board games. You get around 50 cubes of each color, which are: White, Pink, Blue, Light Green, Green, Yellow, Brown, Black, Orange and Red.
I use them in games to track points and player statuses and things of that nature.
I would have given them five stars, but the dark green and the light green are VERY similar in color, thus cutting down my 10 colors to 9 easily distinguished ones. I'm considering putting black dots (with a Sharpie) on the faces of the dark green ones to help, but that would take a while...

These blocks are traditionally used for math. But they are also excellent for making your own board games! They are smooth and have a variety of colors. Nice product.Best Deals for CENTIMETER CUBES 500-PK 10 COLORS
I was nervous to buy these with no reviews but I took a chance. Im using them for an art project, they are very tiny, plastic and come in allm different colors. The container they came in was dented up but I think it was from shipping...which was them throwing the round container in a small square box rattling around. However these are great if you need tiny plastic cubes in a variety of colors.Honest reviews on CENTIMETER CUBES 500-PK 10 COLORS
They're all exactly the same size, and there's a hojillion of them. What more could you ask for?I use them in games to track points and player statuses and things of that nature.

They were exactly as described but I took caution and actually counted them. My package came without a color so I ended up returning it to amazon. I looked elsewhere and got double for the same price. All my colors too.Monday, July 28, 2014
Geomix Learning Game Reviews
My 3 year old loves this set of blocks and creating new patterns. She especially likes to have an adult work one half of the puzzle and then she problem solves and works the other half. My 5 year old also enjoys working with the patterns but not as much and she is more independent when working with it. Overall it is well worth the money. I was surprised with how well my kids like to play with it.
The game is fun for both kids and adults there are many variations of putting together the attractive wooden block pieces. It's a quality game/puzzle. It's maybe advanced for a 4 year old, but with adult help, it's a fun time together. I also recommend it for adults.
The most thing I satisfied w/ this is that my son completes the pattern w/ patience. Great Buy!

I purchased this wooden block puzzle for my 4-year-old grandson because it looked like (1)a challenging yet attractive puzzle game and (2) the pieces were not plastic and (3) it had a puzzle wooden frame for holding the pieces and (4) since it was made in Germany, I assumed that the EU requirements would not allow lead in the paint. The game is fun for both kids and adults there are many variations of putting together the attractive wooden block pieces. I bought this for "myself" but sometimes let the rest of the family enjoy it (ages 2, 5, 39 and plus all guests). It's beautifully made with very smooth colored wood pieces. You can recreate the patterns on the box or make up your own. We usually "play" it as a game for two people, where each person has one side of the puzzle. One person is the "leader" and the other "follows" by putting pieces in the same pattern as the leader. Have fun while teaching/learning about colors, shapes, sizes, geometric reasoning and patterns!Honest reviews on Geomix Learning Game
I am an Occupational Therapy student who just bought these. I have been able to use these with my fieldwork patients and they rock! The children beg for these and they are super safe because they are made with vegetable dyes. Great toy for cognitive building!!! I bought this puzzle when my son was 3 1/2 years old and now he became 4 years old two months ago. It seemed little difficult at first but now he really enjoys it. He follows the patterns on the box and sometime he creates his own.The most thing I satisfied w/ this is that my son completes the pattern w/ patience. Great Buy!

Cheap Squeeze & Tweeze Sorting & Counting Game
Everyone that comes to my house wants to play with this toy.
Vibrant colors, nice quality. I gave it 4 starts because I wish it had a way to store it better. I don't like to have to use the box it came in.

We recently purchased a MobiGo for our 3 year old as we spend more time commuting in the car and this was the first of two games that we bought. My daughter absolutly loves it. There are 6 games to choose from on the cartridge and they are definitly geared more for the 3/4 year old range. This cartridge alone can keep her occupied for 30-45 minutes. Definitly recommended.
It also teachs about planting a garden. It just looked like a fun game of learning.

We got this as a christmas gift for our daughter. She really loves Elmo, so we thought it would be a perfect fit. She really loves the game, and i think has learned alot from it. My only complaint is that the video graphics are a little choppy, and could be improved. Not a major issue at all, and the game is strongly recommended.Honest reviews on VTech MobiGo Software - Elmo and Abbey; Nature Explorers
I bought this system for my granddaughter, Chloe and she absolutely loves it. I just wish there was a more extensive library and the cartridges were a little less expensive ($ 19) but its a wonderful educational system for her, keeps her entertained for hours and actively engaged in leaning that is fun.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for VTech MobiGo Software - Elmo and Abbey; Nature Explorers

Bought this to play a April fool joke on the boss. I pretended to answer, said it was for him as I handed him the phone and told him April is calling, she wants her joke back. It took him a couple seconds, but it was great

Review of Posting Blocks - Farm
Bought this as a gift for my niece. It's all wood and the craftsmanship was excellent. Honestly I was surprised by how good it was. I figured it was going to be cheap and crappy but it is a very well made toy. I would definitely buy this again.
