My daughter loves her Bugsby reader, so I just restocked our book supply and this was one of my purchases. She loves it! Cute story, very educational spanish, numbers, letters, seasons. She's been walking around the house talking about which order the seasons are in. I let her take these books up to bed and after we read a book of her choice, she "reads" the Bugsby books to her stuffed animals. Love it highly recommend this product!

Learning Resources provided me with a copy of this product, but the opinions are mine.

The Basic Vocabulary Photo Cards set includes 156 cards in 16 areas. They come in a box divided by themes.

The front of each card contains a picture and a label. The back contains a picture with a blank. Students can use a dry erase marker to label the car themselves.

How am I using them in the speech room?

Expressive vocabulary : Labeling noun & verbs.

Receptive vocabulary: Identify the card I name.

Categories: Sort the photos into each section of the box.

Describing: These will be perfect to pair with the EET.

PROS: Real life photographs can be crucial for teaching young children or children on the autism spectrum.

CONS: Although there are a lot of themes, if feels like there are just a few in each section. I'd love to see more photos in the set.

So this is exactly what you think... A laminated placemat. It is sturdy, not a thin lamination, but dont be fooled to think this is going to be heavy duty. I would not trust it in the dishwasher. That being said, it is helping with my son leaning his alphabet, and is standing up through many meals.

This placemat is great! Teach your kids their ABC's during mealtime. Great way to seize the opportunity to review letters. Helped my son tremendously. I recommend it, just make sure you don't get it too wet or submerge it in water. Wipe it with a damp cloth and that does the trick.

This placemat was a bit of a disappointment. It's just a laminated card, and although it has color your own letters on the back, it doesn't clean off easily. It's OK, but I'd rather have something a bit more sturdy. That being said, my kids love looking at the alphabet letters.

My son got this stacker for his first birthday and it's a great toy. My one and only complaint is that I was afraid he would hurt himself on the center pole when he was toddling unsteadily around while learning to walk. That being said, the pros far outweigh the one con. It's durable, brightly colored, and the wood is stained with safe dyes so the color won't chip off (we had that problem with 2 other, cheap stackers that were painted with who knows what). What I like best about this toy is that it's not just round pieces, they are geometric shapes, which lends itself for a lot of educational value. When my son it playing with it we talk to him about the colors, shapes, and sizes of the different pieces, and I can imagine that the shapes will come in handy once he is older and learning those too.

What else can I say? These are standard songs used for beginner learnings on the harp. Interest beginners can then try to play other music from memory or other music.

AmScope 2000X LED Education Trinocular Compound Microscope w 3D Reviews

I haven't had a microscope since I was 8-9 years old. When I overlooked a vault technician with a field scope for looking at intricate, small gear, I starting looking at scopes. Amscope has a huge collection of various scopes for every need. I bought a binocular stereo, and then this compound one. Both have provided me hours of entertainment.

The mechanical stage is a must, as well as a 3mp or higher camera. The pics are amazing! Prices are great, as the LED is cheaper than the halogen. But suits me just fine.

Both scopes came with plenty of accessories, lens, parts, covers. I wish they would do a better job of documentation and manuals, but their support provided links to good online manuals.

The software shipped with the cameras is very good, and has tons of photo manipulation features. Cameras even take video and time lapse captures.

Physically, the equipment seems sturdy and solid, no crappy plastic or cheap parts that would appear to break easily.

I am really having a blast using a laptop and the camera.

Hoppop Atto Ride On Reviews

I spent hours researching what to buy for my one-year-old daughter's first riding/pushing toy. I came across this one rather accidentally in a store and couldn't find any reviews online, but I bought it anyway because it was a good price and I liked the simplicity. Now, I love it. And baby girl giggles when she spots it across the room and races toward it.

Pros:

+ It's simple no batteries required. No annoying songs or sounds.

+ It's attractive mostly white with lime, dark blue, or dark pink.

+ The front wheels turn so it doesn't always go in a straight line not always the case with riding toys.

+ No paper or stickers she can chew off or that will dissolve in the rain if it's left outside.

+ Seems sturdy rated to 44 lbs. but I put all my weight (135) on it and it didn't seem to creak or bend.

+ Narrow between the wheels baby can walk while straddling it or sit on the seat and ride.

+ My kid, for one, is in LOVE with it.

+ Inexpensive, as riding toys go.

Cons:

Very lightweight baby girl, who is not yet walking, can't get on unless someone is stabilizing it.

Wheel base is narrow again, someone has to hold her while she walks/rides it or she's likely to fall over sideways (also a result of its weight).

No long handle for parent to use to stabilize I bend over to hold it while she rides. My back is killing me, but baby girl loves every second.

Reviews on other websites said the handlebars were too far away from the seat for their kids, but it's just right for mine (she's 31" tall at 12 months).

If this one breaks or is stolen or otherwise compromised, I'll be buying another one the same day.

I bought this toy based mostly on the way it looks--It's a lot more stylish than your average ride-on. My two-and-a-half year old loves it and rides it around the house constantly. I got this toy for him when he was 18 months old and he's always liked it, but it's really only in the past few months that it has become a hands-down favorite. It's nice that it is lightweight, so he can carry it around the house himself. The only downside is that the seat is too far away from the handlebars (he just sits on the white bar in the middle). But all-in-all, I'm very satisfied with this toy and would recommend it to others.

i got these thinking they would be fun and safe for a 1 yr old. They smell unlike mega blok, little people builder or Lego Duplo. The stacking is hard because the plastic deforms. My kid by far prefers the above mentioned brand. I also felt uncomfortable about the smell. Smell means outgasisng of some sort of chemical. I do not recommend these. I recommend little people builder playsets as a start or mega blok maxi.

I agree with one of the other reviewers that the blocks have a lasting odor (it's a rubbery smell, not offensive at all), even after a thorough washing and airing out, but it is not so bothersome that I did not buy more! My grandson is 20 months old and loves blocks right now these blocks are his favorite for the interlocking type...I think the size it just right. The animals are adorable, too! I got the "train set" as well but some parts are too small as he still puts things in his mouth so I put those away 'til he's older. I got the set with a larger number of blocks, as yet another reviewer mentioned, as the amount with this set is not enough!

I cant express just how much I love these blocks!!!!

I have 4 children whom have all loved building toys ,So we have tons of different types of blocks. My youngest, 17 months, has an assortment of Lego Duplos, MegaBloks, etc. Those blocks are great fun. However they pose the hazard of being beamed in the head by falling blocks when the little ones build sky scrapers and other creations, that always seem to go straight up for some reason, and knock them over. After all, this simply has to happen, knocking everything down after building is part of the fun right? I cant tell you over the years just how many block head bonks we have had.

These blocks are thick rubber. They have alittle more weight to them than regular lego type blocks, but they do not hurt. I have also found them to be more manageable for little ones as they are a little more pliable and don't require such precise placement to attach.

Do not let the "Mini" in the title for this product dissuade you, as you can tell from the ad photo, these are Megablok sized blocks. In fact, that is another plus to these, they are compatible with the Megabloks and my kiddos use them together. The regular size Edushape blocks are, I believe, very large blocks. I will have to check those out and see if they are compatible with the kids adventure jumbo blocks we have.

We have 4 different sets of these blocks and I will definitely purchase more. I highly recommend these blocks for anyone with little ones, they are just all around better blocks for them.

Cheap Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Cookie Shape Surprise

My son received this toy as a gift for his first birthday. He loved putting the shapes in through the top of the jar and taking them back out, and loved being able to take the lid on and off. The music is cute, too. However, now that he is a little older (almost 15 months) and ready to really sort the shapes, he gets frustrated trying to fit the correct shapes into their corresponding holes. The shapes are too big for their holes, which makes it a very tight squeeze. In order for me to fit, say, the star shape into the star hole, I have to hold the cookie jar tightly with my other hand and really forcefully push the shape through. There is no way my son could do that on his own, which he finds frustrating. Although I think this toy was a cute idea and is fun to use when just putting shapes in and out the top, I think it really should be redesigned to work better as a shape sorter...

I have been searching for a shape-sorting toy for my 16-month old daughter. I chose this one because it had good reviews and because I found it in a local store (no shipping charges!). However, after playing with it for a few minutes, I realized that the shapes are very hard to fit into their respective holes, especially the square. Also, it seems that they can only go in one way, with the embossed-number-side facing in; otherwise, it is even harder to push them in. And, even when you line them up just right, the block sort of "catches" on the button that causes the corresponding song, and you have to put in some real effor to push the block in. I can only imagine how frustrating this must be to a baby just learning to shape sort he/she finally gets the shape right, but can't manage to push it all the way in. Furthermore, even though this is a cute toy, I showed it to my baby for just a minute and she didn't even bother to try to play with it. It, along with the Fisher-Price Stride to Ride Lion, is not one of Fisher-Prices's best creations.

My kids both like this toy putting the shapes in and out of the top but I have the same problem as the other reviewer,,,the shapes on mine are WAY too tight to fit thru the shaped holes easily. It is hard for me to do and unless they are lined up exactly it will not work at all. Impossible for any toddler to do. Maybe this issue is not on all of them as other people do not seem to have the problem but overall I am VERY disappointed and will probably be donating this toy to good will next time I go! Fisher Price usually makes good toys but this one in my opinion is not.

I almost didn't buy this because of the review that stated it was hard to get the shapes in. But, I really wanted to have a shape sorter from the Laugh and Learn line, so I tried it.

This toy is great! Has darling songs, and my 1 yr old son has learned to get the shapes in the right spots without any problems, and the shapes go in easy and without any of the problems the other reviewer had.

One of the best features is the cookie jar lid. It helps keep the pieces inside, perfect for easy clean up! This has been one of my sons favorite toys this year!!

This cake set is very simple but very adorable!! It'll be a great xmas gift for my little 3 year old. The lazy susan actually spins, which I did not expect. The icing bag is made of cloth and has a wooden tip.

Overall, plan toys make their items smaller than that of Melissa and Doug. Mixing the two brands will give you a disproportional look. I think plan toys has better made toys. We own both and we are happier with plan toys because it does not chip or rub off like Melissa and Doug toys. I guess MD use to be better quality but now the quality has gone downhill.
