Reviews of LeapFrog: Turbo Twist Spelling
My son is an 8 yr. old who is beginning 5th grade. He is a very good student. His only difficult subject is language arts (Spelling). This turbo twist spelling has captured his attention, motivated him, encouraged him and rewarded him. He says it is cool fun! Most important to Mom is the reaction we see when he succeeds in spelling geography or fascinate correctly. Thanks leap frog. Note: Please parents/teachersencourage leap frog/leap zone to keep their web site affordable. We have used it and it is a gem. However, if the price prevents children who need it from using it... it is a waste of time and effort. A minimal fee is understandable... But let's work to make this available to all kids who need it!
My only complaint is that it will only remember one person's identity. That is the only short coming that I have seen to the unit.

This little tool may help your child learn spelling without fighting. It has a decent word list embedded, but you can also expend it by buying cartridges, or, if you have the Mind Station, download words for your child's spelling curriculum that they use. The unit repeats the words that you misspell, making you try again, and if you did miss it once, and got it the second time around, it will slip it in again down the road, to reinforce the learned spelling. With the multi player mode multiple children can play against each other, even at different levels.My only complaint is that it will only remember one person's identity. I purchased this TOY (as my son would look at it), to help him with his spelling. He is in the second grade. He loves it and so do I. I download his spelling words each week from the computer and send him off to play. He doesn't even realize that he is studying. He has scored 100% on all his spelling tests thus far. I highly recommend this. Then again, you can't go wrong with any Leapfrog product. I think I own everything they make. My children absolutely love to play with them, and I love that they are learning.

Buy Chicco Animal Cottage
I bought this toy for my daughter on her first birthday. As a kid, my brother had an older version of this toy and I was expecting that when I puchased the Chicco Animal Cottage. In that sense I was a little disappointed. The plastic is much thinner and flimsier, the doors pop open easily without using the key, and the animals can fit through some of the holes at the top meant for the shapes. That being said, it is still a fun toy and both my one and four year old enjoy playing with it.

I really dislike this toy. The keys and locks are nearly impossible for my child to use and she gets very frustrated. I was expecting more. When I bought this, the description said it was a game, but it isn't. You can snap the pieces together, but the head is difficult for little ones. And you don't actually have to be able to count or recognize numbers. If you put all the red pieces together (red head with red wings) you will have the number of dots that matches the number on the head. It would have been more useful it you could match EITHER by color OR number (for example, one red wing and one blue wing gives you the number on the green head or two yellow wings gives you the number on the red head), but as it is it isn't very educational or useful for children who already know their colors.Best Deals for Learning Resources Snap-n-Learn Number Bugs
My nephew is almost two years old. He likes carrying the bug-filled bucket around the house and dumping the bugs on the floor. He loves popping the heads off the bugs and ripping their bodies apart. It sounds kind of sick, but that's what how it goes. He recognizes colors so he enjoys collecting the parts when we ask for specific pieces. He can count aloud and by using our fingers but does not recognize the dots as counting tools yet. As soon as we put the pieces together, he pulls them apart. My 2 year old loves these! They're colorful and very durable. Each bug comes apart into 3 pieces and they need to match the colors to put them back together. This is helping her learn the names of the colors too. Then each bug has dots on it's back and the corresponding number on it's head to help with her numbers. Cheap Fisher-Price PowerTouch Learning System
First the description: You open it up, slip in the book --simple enough for my son (3 yrs old) to do himself, even changing the cartridge - and switch it on, you are set! This is an incredible improvement over LeapPad and My First LeapPad for a totally self directed learning experience. He has never ended up frustrated while using this toy.
About the add-ons, I currently have two and he enjoys the I Spy even though he is not in the recommended age group. He is able to follow along anything it requires. The volume slide is so nice and easy vs having to hit + and symbols with a pen on the LeapPads. The Blues Clues one is for his age group and he loves that too.
Now for more comparisons:
I own both the Leap Pad, and the My first Leap Pad for my now 3 year old son. I would pass on that and go for this toy. After more than 1 1/2 years of owning them, I still need to pull them out for him, and watch over and remind him to hit the GO circle etc. In fact, he probably prefers a paper book to them, given that with normal 23 yr old boy handling, the pen's contacts are iffy, and the pads shut off at random etc after just a few months of use. I have to say, he does truly enjoy the Dora, Thomas, Jay-Jay, Bob the Builder, Bear in the Big Blue house etc. theme books for the Leap Pad / My First Leap Pad also.
And as for Leap Pad Plus, lets just say that the same GO circle, and delicate pen problems still exist for a rambunctious boy :-) I DO like the Imagination Desk, which does get him coloring and sounding out letters and words quite a bit, especially with Pooh Bear, or Clifford. Wish they had a familiar character themed alphabet book too for that as well as the leap pad. If you look at the parent complaining about a stray wrist making other stuff on the page sound out with the Power Touch, imagine a stray pen touch resetting the entire page to some other GO circle. Much easier to teach them to point. At least, here the sounds relate to the page under view always. I pull out the Leap Pad occasionaly if I have a sore throat and can't get through the dozens of books he likes for night time reading. My son pulls out and plays with the Power Touch by himself. Enough said with that...

In fact, sometimes he loves to switch rapidly from one picture to another (like all 2 yr olds, he's not exactly a model of patience!) and the power touch keeps up. He was VERY frustrated with the "little touch".
Another thing is the pages of the books. Leap Pad falsely claims that the "little touch" books are made to be sturdy/untearable for 1-2 yr olds. Instead the pages were made of regular paper. I'm really surprised that that such a well known company would put misleading statements on it's box. The power touch has laminated pages which are definitely sturdier (although it would be nice if they put out the younger books in thicker pages). Also, the books for the little touch are just terrible. They focus mainly on the ABC's, shapes, numbers, (which is boring to such a young child) with nothing else. The story line of the books were way too complicated for my son to understand (and he loves most books). Power touch has characters like elmo and clifford, which he likes a lot. I wish Power Touch had more books available, but one book really does have a zillion different pictures and activities that grow with the child.
Lastly, that dumb green "go" button on the Leap pad made it impossible for him to play with it by himself, and I had to always be pushing it every time he flipped a page back or forward, which constantly distracted him from the book. He wanted to read on his own, but I had to lean over and reset each page, or the words and sounds would be for a different page (now that is MUCH more confusing to a 2 yr old than accidently setting off a sound w/ a brush of the wrist)!
He plays with the power touch for an hour at a time, and loves it. He can read it all by himself, turn to any page he wants, and he even learned to change the books himself after a week! (The Power Touch books are so simple to change).
When he is older, maybe 4 or 5, I will probably get him a leap frog system with a pen (the leap pad for 4-8 yr olds), so he'll be able to get practice with writing, and the leap frog has a lot more for the older child. By then, he will be able to figure out the puzzling "green go" button. But until then, for a 2 or 3 year old, no system beats the Power Touch. The Little Touch Leap Pad was misleading, a complete waste of money and a big disappointment. Never have I bought a toy more disappointing, and this was expensive ([$$$] w/ a book)!

We just bought this for my 2-year-old daughter for her birthday after having played with the display at Target over and over again. Her first response was "WOW!". This book is a big improvement over the LeapPad systems as it allows your child to use his/her finger to guide them rather than a pen. It is definitely more user-friendly for the younger kids because they do not need to touch the "go" circle to make the book work; a concept good for the older kids only. It comes with 2 books to get started: A Sesame Street book and a k-2 grade learning guide. ...First of all this goes from ages 3-8 instead of leap pads two age groups. (my first leap pad only 3-5 and regular is 4-8). Secondly I like that he points with his finger like you would in a regular book. Who reads a book with a pen? I would rather teach him to read without the stylus. As the other reviewer stated, this is not a magnetic card frame its literally just a frame. I bought it to use on my white board but just found out my white board is actually NOT magnetic! So check your boards first! If I had known I would have probably bought the other magnetic answer card frames instead. All in all its a good product. I wont return it since my kids like to play/learn with it on the dish washer (our only magnetic surface around the house). The product photo is a bit misleading. From the photo, I was expecting a magnetic black ten-frame on a white board, which I can then use on a desk. Instead, you get four magnetic sheets. You have to punch out the color disks and their surrounding square from the ten-frame. The ten-frame is a good size and easy to manipulate. But, you will need a magnetic white board. Discount PylePro PGEKT50 Professional Full Size Electric Bass Guitar Package
It's an excellent Bass Guitar. The quality is top notch. It plays great and sounds great. I would buy it again. I recommend it. I love it.
It's not a most beautiful sounding bass or practice amp but its the right price point to find out if you want to invest the money into better equipment... and I bet you'll still keep this bass around as a stage back up or a practice bass.

I received mine when I did not know a single thing about basses, just to clarify. Over time by tampering around with it, I discovered a flaw with mine. It seems now that the problem with the bass I received was, when I applied tension on the neck by tuning it, it tended to bow the neck forward causing a "banana bow". Even if I tried to lower the action on the saddles or through the truss rod, I'll still need to tune the strings and I'll think I've fixed the problem but in reality, I'm back to square one. The conclusion I came up with is: the truss rod is weak, but it does work. So now it is hard to play it the way it is, but I still play it because it's the only the bass I own, but soon I'll be upgrading to a better one. Cosmetically, it is beautiful, the built-in tuner is accurate and functions when it wants to, the practice amp is alright and the electronics decent, but because mine came dysfunctional I'm giving it 2 stars out of 5.

The package came quick with everything in tact and the bass was even strung already for me so all I had to do was tune it which was easy since it came with one. Great for beginners and experienced players. The amp and chord are small and definatley not meant to be used in gigs but I didnt expect it to be all ready for hard rockin' quite yet. 8 months ago, I was an inexperienced bassist learning on a friends guitar. I obviously was looking for a bass of my own. I wanted something stylish and well sounding, but not an expensive one like a Fender. After searching for a while, I came across this guitar. Let me say, I picked the right guitar. It came in 4 days, and shipping was inexpensive. The packaging was fine, and everything advertised came with it. The guitar I pulled out was GORGEOUS. The picture does not do it justice. It has a very natural feeling body and a beautifully sleek & shiny grey sunburst finish. When I picked it up to play, the amp that I expected to sound terrible, emitted a deep and smooth sound that I was surprised to hear. The bass itself was built amazingly, with no errors in its construction. I'm still using it today, and plan to buy a fender soon. After teaching biology and Anatomy and Physiology for 30 years I retired from teaching in a public high school and took a job in a private middle school. One of the subjects I would be teaching was earth science. I had never taught this subject before. The video labs are terrific. I think the name is misleading. I think of them as a complete unit in a box. I would start by giving the students a pretest which is provided. The students thought the pretests were very hard. I would keep them and after going through the complete set of 12 labs in small groups doing the experiments, and answering the questions provided I would give them the test again. This time they would declare the test was easy. I let them compare the before and after and the feedback was all about how much they learned and how much they enjoyed the process. It did not take much time for me to be completely confidant in my ability to teach the subject. I struggle to declare a favorite video lab. Rock cycle, Minerals, Weather, the sun and our solar system, the universe. All are great.

I love this kit. My middle school and high school students found it motivational and fun to do. The video introduces the subject beautifully, and the activities, a full week's worth, are spot on to encourage student involvement in their own learning. Learning outcomes and all necessary worksheets and materials have been carefully and masterfully produced. As a career science teacher, I cannot recommend this videolab too highly. I bought these to help my son with speech and to encourage him to talk. I wrote the naming word on each card so my son can connect the word with the picture and eventually notice the pattern more quickly. I love these cards. Our glow in the dark power was missing so that was kind of a bummer. Otherwise the toy is OK but the description seems to promise a greater experience than what is actually in the box. My son is only 5 so maybe he will enjoy it more when he is older.
