LeapFrog LeapReader Junior Book: Sesame Street Cookie Monster's Review

Customer Ratings:

There is a lot going on in this Tag Jr. book. The only disappointing thing is that the entire book is in Cookie Monster's voice. This is not the best choice if you are trying to teach diction or clear enunciation. My daughter loves it though.

My almost 3 year old daughter enjoys this book. She loves Sesame Street, and therefore this book. The music is fun, and she loves hitting all the different pictures to hear the words and sounds.

This was the first interactive reader we received for my daughter and she enjoys it. She started at only 13 months old with this book, but enjoys hearing the reader count and meeting all the characters.

Honest reviews on LeapFrog LeapReader Junior Book: Sesame Street Cookie Monster's

My son is two and he really likes this book. I've noticed that since we got it, he can recognize numbers by name in other books and puzzles. I don't have a problem with the Cookie Monster voice like some of the other reviewers. The text in the book is not read by Cookie Monster, he just describes the pictures.

Overall, a great addition to your Tag Junior library.

Reviews of Tiny Love Musical Stack and Ball Game

Customer Ratings:

Picking out a birthday present for my one-year-old niece was a heated competition between my brother and I. His gift was top secret and purported to be the best baby gift ever. On the day of the party, everyone expected my niece to enjoy the packaging more than the actual gifts, and she did except when it came to this amazing Tiny Love product. She immediately began putting the balls in the cone and was thrilled by all the music. It has apparently kept her amused hour after hour. Like the Tiny Love mobile (used by many in my family including my own child) this product is educational and enjoyable.

This has been a favorite toy of my 1 yr old son for the last 6 months. He still plays with it every day. What is great about it is there are many different components to this toy that he has been able to learn and grow with. He started just enjoying the rattling balls and the elephant head. Then he discovered how to put the balls in the elephant head. Now, he puts the balls (and other things) in without the head. His new trick is to turn it on its side and put the balls in the front and try to figure out how to get them out. This toy has been consistently played with and has taught my son many skills.

This toy has been amazing. My daughter plays with it almost everyday. I bought it for her when she was 6 months, now she is two and still loves it. It taught her hand-eye coordination, and the music was her reward. It was a thrill for her to be able to do several things with this toy from shaking the rattle balls, to putting on the rings. This toy is a winner!!

Honest reviews on Tiny Love Musical Stack and Ball Game

My daughter received this toy for her 1st Christmas. Now, almost 1 year later, she still loves it. I am amazed at how much she plays with this toy. It gets plays with it everyday, which I can't say that about many toys. It makes cute "yeah" sounds(it also makes other cheerful noises) when you drop a ball inside. She claps for herself and laughs. Definitely worth buying.

I heard about this toy from a parenting magazine review... and to tell you the truth was a bit sceptical about all the raving. But, when I saw it in a store, I was sold. It soft and colorful. The music is not too loud. The balls and rings are a perfect size for little hands to grab.

My 7 month daughter loved it the moment she saw it. There are so many ways she can play with it. And the toy will definitely grow with her. I thought it was so good, I am going to uy another one for my friend's baby.

Discount Unique Art 21-Inch Tall Turquoise Blue Ocean Table Top Gemstone

Customer Ratings:

I received my Unique Art Gemstone globe via Amazon's 2-day shipping program. The box was actually larger than I expected and did arrive a little worse for wear, but the globe is quite well packaged inside the box. The globe is padded with a custom styrofoam encasement and the gold frame is hand-wrapped in thick tissue paper to protect the delicate finish. Once unpacked, it was in perfect condition and quite impressive.

The gemstones were fit together perfectly and I spent some time reviewing the fine craftsmanship. The brilliant shine to both the gold frame and the globe itself are far more striking in person than on the stock photos. The pictures on Amazon's site do not quite do this item justice. As with most items, I found Amazon's pricing competitive with their online competition. I would recommend this line of gemstone globes to anyone looking to make a purchase.

Cheap Early Lingo Opposites at The Beach DVD (Part 3 English)

Customer Ratings:

I am a mother of two boys (6months and 4yo)and I bought this DVD for my niece who was visiting (she is also 4 and speaks Portuguese). I knew she loved the beach and wanted to help her with her English words. Not only did she LOVE it and begin instantly speaking English, but my son loved it too! they asked to watch it over and over. It was such a simple, fun video. I just bought the Spanish version because my son loves this one so much I want to have it while he is still hooked. What a great idea! I highly recommend this DVD series!

Review of Hungry Monkey Motor Skills Game

Customer Ratings:

I can't say enough about this product. I first saw it at my daughter's preschool and ended up buying this and the Hungry Bunny to have at home for younger siblings. Both are SO well made with vinyl and the bananas are bigger than I'd remembered. I started the kids using their fingers to put the fruit in the mouth and it didn't take long until they were anxious to use the tweezers. My daughter is barley 2 and LOVES this it is a challenge for her, but I love to see her focus on it for long periods of time; my 5 year old still thinks it is fun too she is quick and likes me to time her. The tweezers are sturdy and perfect for little hands. The boxes they come in are laminated and great for lots of set up and take down without tearing. As always Lakeshore Learning is top quality.

Reviews of Elenco Custom Storage Case (SC-750)

Customer Ratings:
List Price: $59.99
Sale Price: $41.63
Today's Bonus: 31% Off

This case can be summed up in that one word. It is made of a robust molded plastic, including quality clasps, and has room for everything in the SC-750 (and everything in its place), plus some room to spare. I highly recommend this item for anyone who has an aspiring electrical/electronics apprentice at home. My seven-year-old son as able to load up the entire contents of his SC-750 (including all books, CDs, etc) plus the contents of his four-year-old SC-100 with absolutely no problem at all. In other words, it all comfortably fits.

The one weakness I can see with the case is the longevity/integrity of the foam insert tray. The parts that store below it are popular (at least, they are in my house!), so it may not hold up to the frequent use it is bound to receive. A stabilizing armature would likely serve that part of the kit very well.

One final note is that the price on this item varied widely (between ~$36 and ~$55) over the few months I was watching it. I ended up purchasing for $38 and change. At that price, I feel it is a good value.

This case was essential for our 6 year-old, to go along with his kit, Snap Circuits Extreme. He takes his snap circuits with him whenever we travel, and now he has a place to store every component in one handy case. Definitely worth the money.

Best Deals for Elenco Custom Storage Case (SC-750)

The case is of average quality. Insert feels wobly. The bottom compartment is a little warped, so it takes some effort, pushing and bending to get the grid plate stored. The case looks better on the pictures. The box is too expensive, compared to the average design, cheap materials and sloppy assembly and finishing.

I had to buy it, because the box of our Elenco set arrived damaged, and was not usable for storing the parts anymore. I would not recommend this case to any of my friends.

Honest reviews on Elenco Custom Storage Case (SC-750)

Gave this case to my grandson to place all his Snap Circuits in that he received for Christmas. Everything fit perfectly and this case is well made. Much easier to carry the circuits around in this case than the flimsy box they originally arrived in.

Good purchase.

I have always been a fan of the Snap Circuits, however, the packaging they come in does not provide the durability I need for a science center that serves 170 students. I had long ago discarded the original box and flimsy case and placed the materials in a plastic bin. However, the students had a tough time finding the components they need to build certain projects, and some fragile pieces (especially the capacitors) broke because they were not properly stored. Even when I had the original box and plastic package, the parts were not put away properly.

This case has made all the difference. Having the snap circuits in a durable, organized case has made it easier for students to find what they need, and to put things away where they belong. My hope is that I will need to replace fewer components because they are protected, rather than dumped in a plastic bin. So far, after about four weeks, this has proven to be true.

When I put the snap circuits in the case, and offered it as a work in my Montessori classroom, the students were more drawn to them than they were before. I am spending less time helping them find components, and I don't have to manage the cleanup as closely.

These aren't as slick as I had hoped. It might be better if you go buy Dry Erase poster board and cut it up into cards. These cards are double sided. I just wished they were slicker because they hold to the ink pigment more than I would like. However, it works perfectly fine for the purpose, they just won't stay crisp white for long.

Fisher-Price Stacking Vehicle Fire Truck Reviews

Customer Ratings:

I ordered this set for my grandson's 1st birthday. HE LOVES IT! Derek is really into all types of cars right now and I knew Fischer Price would be safe as all toys make their way into the mouth when children are young. The firetruck makes a honking sound when you first push the button on top, then the 2nd time you push the button it plays a little song. The cars make sounds when you push the button people on top while stacking them too. Derek and his 2 yr old cousin both had so much fun playing with these toys all afternoon, along with the Fischer Price tractor and stacking farm animals that I got for my elderly parents to give to him. Both sets say "6 months +" on the packages but they clearly kept a 1 yr old and 2 yr old entertained for hours!

My daughter really likes these stacking trucks, and of course loves the one that makes noise. I like that these (along with the other ice cream set) are not too "boyish" in terms of cars. She likes to push them and also stack them and knock them over. Great toy.

My neighbor originally bought these for her son, who is 6. They were too beginner for him, so she handed them to us. My son loves them. They are very beginning words, The cat pulled a bat from the hat. The games are really neat in the back too. My son enjoys listening to the clues and finding the answers. He really has yet to pay attention to the words, but he's 3. We have time!

I love the Tag system, and I think it is a great learning tool for our Kindergarten homeschool curriculum. My daughter is a bit of a grumpy reader unless you get her on a great day, so it is important for me to have a variety of items like workbooks, books, DVDs, games, etc. for her to propel through reading. She likes the TAG system, and it is a great tool, but until she gets through the frustration of learning to read using phonics and sounding out words, this will be a challenge. She wants to rush, but this system is not meant for that. It is a terrific tool, but your child will not read overnight and may not "love it" for what it is it's not playing with Matchbox cars or a Leapster, it is reading, so be patient and use in only small doses until your child's reading really takes off.

Best Deals for LeapFrog LeapReader Learn to Read, Volume 1 (works with Tag)

My children love the LeapFrog Tag reading system. I am not the biggest fan. However, the LeapFrog phonics set is less of the "fun" stuff from other Leapfrog books (the sound effects, popular characters, etc.) and more actual reading practice. While this set of books is a decent resource for teaching young children to read, it isn't the best. First, the whole premise of the Tag system is a bit flawed. The kids learn to love the electronic ability of the Tag, not the book itself. They rely on the pen to bring the book to life, not their imaginations. So, it is a bit of a slippery slope with the Tag system. My children use the Tag for fun in their play time, but reading lessons do not include use of the Tag. The Phonics Books are a decent resource to have, and they do love the books. If you are trying to teach your child to read, this is probably not for you. If you are looking for something fun that will supplement their learning, this is a decent resource for you.

Honest reviews on LeapFrog LeapReader Learn to Read, Volume 1 (works with Tag)

I am a special education teacher and my students love the tag reader. For students who have trouble reading it helps them tremendously. It also helps with comprehension skills.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for LeapFrog LeapReader Learn to Read, Volume 1 (works with Tag)

If you take this set at face value, it is a great way to get 6 tag books for a great value. These are different from regular Tag books in that they are shorter, words are bigger (and can be set to read word-by-word, or sound at a time), and they do have a smaller activity section in the back for a "game".

As far as teaching to read, I personally don't like that the focus is on vowels, rather than consonants, first. My almost 4 year old can't focus on learning the middle sounds yet, and the book assumes that consonants are already learned. So, for now, we just use them as books, and hopefully as he gets older, he'll be interested in breaking down the words sound-by-sound.

So, overall, if you expect to get a top-notch reading program, you'll be disappointed. BUT...if you expect to get some great little books to add to your Tag library that might AID in mastering basic reading concepts, then you'll be pleased. The Leapfrog site often has all three phonics sets for less than the cost of two at regular retail (just a heads-up!).

Got this for my 10 year old for Christmas and she LOVES it. Lots of tiny pieces to it so you have to be careful. Has encouraged my daughter to work on her writing a lot!

Honest reviews on Pecoware / Create Your Own Secret Diary Set, Fancy Butterfly

This is a very attractive trinket box that looks expensive but is very affordable. I purchased it for a seven-year-old girl's birthday and I think it's perfect for this age group. The box itself is very pretty and there are two little side boxes that are attached to the inside and can be lifted out (though still attached to the main box). The box has enough space in it to keep little treasures.

Then there are the accessories. There is a diary which I thought was the perfect size for little hands, stickers, a pen that has four colors, beads, sequins, jewels and glitter glue that can be used to decorate the diary. My daughter has a similar Pecoware trinket box containing a diary and loves it it has been two years since I got it for her and she still plays with it, so I think it is fairly sturdy too. A beautiful, affordable trinket box for little girl's treasures.

This was a birthday present for my daughter. Unfortunately, it was broken right out of the box -the latch on the diary is jammed and will not unlock. Also, the exterior latch on the box is pink plastic, not the silver metal shown in the picture.
