I purchased this set for my 5 month old baby, having looked at natural rubber bath toys for about a year. I was a little skeptical about several things. First, I wondered if the legs of the octopus were too long, creating a potential choking hazard. Second, I was curious if the set was worth the $22 I paid for it. Third, I had been studying natural rubber bath toys for awhile, and was *very* skeptical about having holes in the rubber toys, as it is difficult to clean inside the toys and mold builds up.

I was delighted to find that all of my concerns were quickly put at ease.

The legs of the octopus do stick out a tiny bit, but not so far as an infant could choke on them.

At just over $4 for each toy, this is an amazing deal, when you you compare with other natural rubber bath toys, especially considering how solid and well-designed these are.

There are holes in the bottom of the sharks, octopus and scuba-man, but I believe they are designed big enough for a finger to fit into and have puppet play in the tub as well. There is ample room for sticking a toothbrush inside and cleaning out sufficiently. There are little openings at the top of the scuba-man as well, but I believe a toothbrush should clean it nicely.

I am extremely pleased with this purchase and am looking forward to buying more toys and games from BeginAgain.

Great toy. The individual toys are awesome. The octopus and the diver are the two favorites right now. The ball itself is great as both a toy and as storage. The all natural rubber is great, though it will certainly make you very, very aware of how much nicer the natural rubber is than toys made of non-natural rubber. Made me want to replace all the other bath toys with natural rubber toys. It's amazing. The feel and the SMELL is so different than typical plastic. Wish it was made in the USA, but hard to argue with the materials, eco-friendly packaging, and the rest. Been loads of fun so far for our 16mo old. New favorite toy for the tub.

I was worried about buying these, because of the other reviews about the smell, but it was very faint and I thought it smelled nice...kinda floraly? Not bad at all. And after playing with them a bit, it's almost completely gone. So don't worry about that part of it.

I actually bought these flashcards because I loved the pictures and the French underneath. I took them off the ring and used 9 of them for artwork in my apartment. Having said that I did give the rest to my sister and we use them with her 3 year old. They seem to be working because she runs around calling her cat "Le Chat" which is adorable. The only complaint I could see is that they're made from cardboard and not really "baby proof". My sister also has a 1 year old who got a hold of them and chewed the corner of a couple and they didn't hold up as well as we would have liked. Overall we loved these cards.

These cards are pretty, and have a good feel to them. I am glad I bought them, however I would prefer if these cards came in sets. For instance, a set of food word cards, clothing word cards, etc. These are nice, but there are just many random words, and I feel there is much more to be desired.

I actually thought I had purchased the Spanish set and was shocked when the French arrived in my mailbox (but the return shipping wasn't worth the cost so I kept it). The set has great picture detail and the cards are thick (may not stand up to wetness though). I keep them in my purse or in the car for my daughter to play with and she seems to love naming all the items.

Both of my sons love these flash cards. They love to flip through them and point to the different items. My oldest son even learned some of the French words before the English ones! The only negative is that once they figured out how to open the ring they would do it all the time and it was hard to keep track of all the cards.

This is a pretty, four-legged piano with helpful color-coded keys. We purchased it as our big "Santa" gift to my daughter for Christmas. It arrived quickly and was extremely easy to put together. My daughter, who is almost 5, was delighted when she saw it and enjoys tinkering on it. I suppose our only complaint is that it does not really sound like a piano. It is definitely a toy and sound like one. Overall, though, we're happy with our purchase.

Update....we had twin boys last year. This toy is the first thing the (now) one year-olds want to see when they wake up and run in the play room. They love banging on it and making "music" and the keys are not too loud as to drive everyone crazy. It is apparently sturdy enough to handle the delightful hammering of two small boys. We still love it!

This was absolutely wonderful for my year old nephew! I would not suggest it for children over three, as it is pretty small. The sound is not fantastic (it sounds like a child's xylophone), but isn't annoying like other models. All in all it is a great buy and a wonderful introduction to piano for toddlers.

Last week I bought the baby grand piano for our grandchild. At the store there was one piano in the box, none on display. I paid $138 and all sales were final. I was pleased to see the black finish and the bench was so cute. I was very disappointed to hear the notes, they sound like a "chime" or worse than a kids xylophone. I realize it's not a Steinway but I thought the sound would be better quality. I'm sorry I made this purchase, I wish I could return it.

I was so excited when my son received this as a birthday gift and he loves to sit and bang on it for a few minutes at a time. But when I tried to play some of the songs for him from the Songbook, I couldn't even recognize the songs half the time because the piano is so off key. Particularly the E. I was further disappointed with the songbook because it doesn't feature notes, just large color circles with the letter of the key in the middle that don't quite fit over the staff, so if you are interested in your child learning to read music, this will not be very useful. We are not planning to keep the piano, I'm just looking for a replacement (perhaps a keyboard) so that I can make the switch.

We have several of these pieces. They are high quality, typical for the Brio name. They have stood up to many many years of playing by my three children and their friends.

The one negative point is that you can not control which way a battery operated train will chose to go on this track piece. There are others that you can control with a small switch which way the train goes. We enjoy those and use those more often than these. However, these are less expensive and still add to the fun of building a train.

Cheap Elenco Snap Circuits Green - Alternative Energy Kit

Last year for Christmas, we bought the Snap Circuits Jr. SC-100 set for our then six-year-old son. The worked through the first half of the experiments on Christmas day! Obviously I didn't have time to explain to him how they all worked, but the point is the instructions are easy to follow and produce entertaining results.

This year, we knew another snap circuits set would be similarly well received. This Green Alternative Energy Kit looked like a great option that didn't repeat too much of what he already had. He loved it again and is eagerly looking forward to designing his own circuits that can combine parts from both sets.

The product is very well packaged--the box it comes in organizes all parts neatly and securely without too much wasted space. The parts are all clearly labeled and easy to snap into place. It includes an FM radio, voltmeter, and a fan/windmill, which are all favorites. The biggest complaint I have is that the hand crank requires enough force to turn it quickly that it is easy to pop that part off of the circuit board. Keeping one hand firmly over the part while using the other hand to do the cranking usually keeps everything secure. Also, the photovoltaic cell doesn't generate enough current except during a very sunny day (which is typical for a cell this size). That said, I would say this set is even more enjoyable than the first set and I would certainly buy it again.

When I asked my son just now what he thought of the set and whether he'd recommend it to others, he said: "It is awesome!"

I got this yesterday. For 8 and up. It is the greatest toy I ever had! It's like LEGO, a new toy every day. The only thing is that you have to charge the batteries for several hours before you can start building. It is very easy to put together. The battery charger uses solar so we put in in the sun. I don't usually write very much review, but I really liked this toy. I have to say this is even more educational than the battery operated ones because the kid can actually see or experience where the energy source come from (sun, wind or him cranking up the hand crank) instead of this black box (the battery unit). I ordered this toy for my 5 year old son. Not only does he learn how energy can change its form from one state to another, he is learning what is a circuit and what does it take to make it work. He is also creating his own circuit now. And I am learning along with him. The pieces are good quality. I am buying a second set for his cousins because it is such an educational yet creative toy.

I bought this cute caterpillar for my daughter when she was about 13 months old. She loves pulling this little caterpillar all over the place. It has the cutest little wobble and is just so darn stinking cute! It's a good weight because of it's high quality materials. Which is good because it keeps the toy from flipping over when my daughter decides to run and pull it. Smooth round corners with very durable paint. It has a kind of rubber on it's feet/wheels so it can grip/crawl on the smoothest of surfaces. My only slight complaint is that I wish the string was a bit longer. But that is because my daughter is really tall. It would also be nice to see it come in other colors. Those two things though have no impact on me recommending this toy over and over again to any parent. My daughter plays REALLY rough with toys! This little caterpillar still looks new after all my daughter has put it though. Because of it's great quality, I've decided to buy all my daughter's toy foods for her kitchen from this company as well. Great product, you won't be disappointed!

Very sweet little catepillar-I would definitely recommend if you've got a "puller" in your brood. I have realized now, after a few attempts of different kinds of pull toys, that I have two "pushers", so neither of them wanted to pull this little guy behind them. That was a little disappointing because it's never ever been played with and while it's not expensive, it's still not cheap. I can't find the receipt because it got lost amongst the Christmas mayhem, so we'll give this to someone else eventually.

My toddler (16 months) uses Mr. Caterpillar like a little push car. When he tries to pull Mr. Pillar, Pillar tips easily and often ends up being dragged along on his side. Mr. Pillar is not easily righted. However, Mr. Pillar is exceptionally cute, and my son seems to enjoy pushing him around the floor with his other cars. Perhaps when he's a little older, my child will be less enthusiastic with his pulling, and Mr. Pillar will be able to wobble along sedately (and adorably) behind him.

ETA: AT 18 months, my son is rocking this all over the house.

I was unsure of how this toy would work out as I couldn't find any reviews, but I hoped it would encourage my daughter (11 months) to learn to put things in somewhere.

What it does: there are three holes on the top for the three balls to go through. They can sit in the holes, but it only takes a light pressure to push them through I'd been worried by the description that you could hammer them in. It's definitely easy enough for a young child. When they go through the hole, it makes a noise, a different one for each. One hole has a curving slide; the other two drop through the barn.

Other functions: there's a chicken on the front that can be turned around (no sound effects, just a clicking noise). There's a sliding purple door that reveals a drawing of a pig. There's a chicken sitting on three colored "eggs" that serves as a hammer. And there's a button on the front that plays 9 seconds of music.

The music and sounds are pretty good for a kids' toy, the volume isn't too loud, it's a cute tune, and it doesn't drive me insane after hearing it for the 50th time in a row.

Batteries are included, and you need a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the toy from the packaging.

As for my daughter, she seems to enjoy it. She learned to push the balls in, then to play the music, then to put the balls in the holes by herself, so it's done a pretty good job of encouraging her to develop these skills. The sliding purple door and chicken that turns are not of interest to her, and we haven't introduced the hammer yet. Overall, I'm pleased, though for the price I'd expected a bit more to do on it than push the balls in and listen to a short tune.

Update: at 13 months, this toy gets little play. She prefers to take the balls and put them in another toy (the Playskool Busy Ball-Tivity Center). I still think it's a cute toy, and will keep it for future children.

My daughter is very inquisitive, so she loves to stick her hand in everything! I have given her some toys that have much bigger holes for the balls and she always puts her hand right down into them. With this toy the balls are large enough so she cannot swallow them, but not so big that her hand gets stuck when she tries to figure out where they went. This is by far one of her favorite toys!! I would recommend this to all of my friends.

This is a good toy to help children develop some basic motor skills. Being rewarded with music after getting a ball through the hole is a great way to encourage development of that skill. Not all children will have as much fun with the sliding barn door or turning chicken but they are still good skills to encourage children to get. Overall this is a cute activity center and the music is better than a lot of others. The tune isn't one that will drive parents crazy and it's not loud or high pitched as children's toys often are.

This was a Christmas for my youngest niece (3 years old) and she loves it! She played with them for hours after we got them out of the wrapping and still does!

The colors are bright and vibrant, which is great because it catches her attention as they roll across the floor and she shouts out the animal and the colors which is awesome. I see a lot of reviews over-analyzing this thing. It's a kids show! We just started doing the elf on the shelf with my 3 year old daughter and she gets absolutely giddy every time she sees her elf. This was on CBS a couple weeks ago and we recorded it. Last night she watched it 3 times in one sitting! I love seeing her light up every time she watches this movie. A couple reviews have mentioned that the movie isn't about the intended purpose of the doll. I say, who cares! It's a sweet little story about kids believing in Santa. However, in my opinion, 15 bucks is a little much for a 25 minute show and that is probably my only gripe about it.

I have 2 little girls, ages 3 (almost 4) and 5 1/2. This is the 3rd Christmas we've enjoyed our adopted elf, who's name is Bicklebaum Woodle, or Bickle for short. Both of my girls have been a bit lukewarm about the Elf tradition, their interest coming and going.

I was delighted to see the release of the movie this year, and we watched it together as a family tonight before bed. We all really enjoyed it! After the movie was over I said "Bedtime!" and my daughters ran over to the Elf's current position on the fireplace mantle to say "GOODNIGHT BICKLEBAUM! MERRY CHRISTMAS!" Quite honestly, it's the first time they've said goodnight to him.

From a parent's perspective, it's wonderful. The story is cute, the character voices nice, animation and music well done, and a movie I don't think I'll mind playing over and over again.

I think the storybook that comes with the elf is a bit long, and leaves room for a lot of "what if" questions. My kids usually get squirmy before the end, and they love for me to read to them. I love that this movie does a great job of filling in some gaps left by the book, answering a lot of questions that inquisitive kids might ask. It shows how each Scout Elf gets his or her assignment at the North pole. Some elves are headed directly to a family. Some elves are headed to a place such as 'Bob's Books and Things' where a family can adopt them. As each elf leaves the north pole, they are even shown getting into their box, Santa adding in a book, and the box being closed up, looking EXACTLY like the box you see in stores er ADOPTION CENTERS.

The movie follows the story of a particular Scout Elf who has been assigned to the McTuttle family, who has 2 little twin girls full of holiday cheer and wonder, and a 9-year-old boy named Taylor who isn't sure he believes in Santa or Christmas magic anymore. The McTuttle family name their elf Chippey, activating his magic. We watch as Chippey chooses meaningful places in the house to return to each night that might inspire Taylor's belief in Christmas. Taylor doesn't believe and scoffs the entire concept, and much to his sisters' dismay, he touches Chippey to prove his point. The girls run away in tears and Taylor races after them. Chippey manages to use the last of his magic to fly up the chimney, and other scout elves on the way back to the North Pole carry him home.

While Chippey is laying in North Pole hospital bed, the McTuttle family is upset that they haven't seen Chippey for a few days, including Taylor. Taylor writes a letter to Santa, saying that he's sorry for having touched Chippey, thus taking his magic away. Santa shows the letter and enclosed photograph to Chippey, proving Taylor's belief, which reinstates his magic, allowing him to return to the McTuttle family. It really warms the heart to see Taylor's transformation from skeptic to believer.

The movie is brief, less than 30 minutes, and easy to follow. It's a cute addition to this fun family tradition. I wish I'd had it in 2010 when we first adopted our Elf!

I used this move to kick of the elf on the shelf in my classroom. The students were very engaged and were much more interested in out elf, than in past years when I have used the elf. I have to face it our kiddos are much more meadia in tune that in the past. If they can watch it they will digest the information much more that just reading it.

For home use it is a really cute and sweet story that I hope could become an annual tradition.

My mother-in-law bought my 4 year old the iXL for his birthday and this was one of the games we bought him for it. He loves the iXL and this game. One of the games is a matching game that gets progressively more difficult and I enjoy it too!! :) It provided a good learning experience, teaching him to be methodical rather than just randomly opening boxes. He also likes the game where Shrek runs and you make him jump and add letters to form a word. At this point it is teaching him letter recognition and he will be able to progress to purposely picking the correct letter to spell out the word.

My two kids LOVE their iXL's. It is the one toy they have that they will keep playing with. My son (age 3) likes watching shrek on tv, & he was so excited to get the game. My daughter (age 2) also loves playing it (more than she likes watching the movie!) If you want something to keep your kids entertained, I would definitely recommend!

I purchased Shrek and Batman along with the IXL Learning System for my 4 yr old Granddaughter for Christmas. She is in a Batman phase right now, so wasn't sure how she would feel about the Shrek game, simply because of her love for Batman, even tho she loves Shrek. Well, Shrek also gets his fair share of play time on the IXL, she gets so absorbed in the game & will suddenly laugh out loud about something on the game in her own little world. Plenty of fun, but learning concepts as well.
