I was expecting more. When I bought this, the description said it was a game, but it isn't. You can snap the pieces together, but the head is difficult for little ones. And you don't actually have to be able to count or recognize numbers. If you put all the red pieces together (red head with red wings) you will have the number of dots that matches the number on the head. It would have been more useful it you could match EITHER by color OR number (for example, one red wing and one blue wing gives you the number on the green head or two yellow wings gives you the number on the red head), but as it is it isn't very educational or useful for children who already know their colors.

My nephew is almost two years old. He likes carrying the bug-filled bucket around the house and dumping the bugs on the floor. He loves popping the heads off the bugs and ripping their bodies apart. It sounds kind of sick, but that's what how it goes. He recognizes colors so he enjoys collecting the parts when we ask for specific pieces. He can count aloud and by using our fingers but does not recognize the dots as counting tools yet. As soon as we put the pieces together, he pulls them apart. The bugs are usually used in play with other toys, e.g., his tool set, his piano, and some silly puppets on a stick.

My daughter has a bug fetish and this played right into it. The help her to learn colors and numbers. She often takes them to the bath and they work fine. I would recommend this to others.

My 2 year old loves these! They're colorful and very durable. Each bug comes apart into 3 pieces and they need to match the colors to put them back together. This is helping her learn the names of the colors too. Then each bug has dots on it's back and the corresponding number on it's head to help with her numbers. Very nice, educational toy :)
