These flashcards are the perfect size for a grandmother to use alongside our daughter. I love having the pictures rather than cartoon drawings of the objects. The pictures combined with the larger size of the cards make these very approachable. The price is better than anything we have seen in the stores.
My mother has dementia. She is losing her ability to speak, but these cards are a tool that she can use. We introduced the cards as something for our daughter to use with "grandma's help." Now my mother can use the cards when her words fail her. These are a small way to give our mother a much better quality of life.

Best Hape - Stack and Swivel Clown Deals
This has been a hit. It's small size has been a plus as we could take it on the plane for our 11 month old who enjoys playing with the rings and especially the "head". She also loves watching when we spin it.

This toy was a bit smaller than expected....but I haven't had my baby yet so I guess to a Baby its big...I just think its just a little wobbly...and the red hat top falls off easily---I do like that its wooden and its nicely colored, it looks good on the shelf I have it on, but I guess when I finally have my baby---she will be the judge of it in the end. I would recommend buying this...it is a nice safe wooden toy---and good for learning how to stack.

The idea behind this product is great. I think more and more educational products should be delivered via software downloaded to your devices. Not only does it mean less for your child to lose and clean up, but it is also a convenience when you travel.
Downside to the download card is, it masks the actual cost of the purchase. It would be just as easy to sell each leaplet app for $7.50 (value of each card) or $15 for some. I guess the idea is people will spend more because they can't just spend $7.50 on an app, they have to spend $15 on two codes; or that people will be more likely to buy something on a whim if they see that it only takes 1 code to buy, instead of seeing a $7.50 sticker price.
The packaging itself is very damaging to the environment. For two cards, they are packed in full cartridge plastic case, which will more than likely just get discarded into some landfill. The cards themselves are also plastic, which easily could have been paper since all that matters on it is the 16 digit code. Maybe they should utilize a system similar to point cards like Xbox Live/PSN cards. Where the cards become activated upon checkout and can be sold as actual hung products instead of having the need to be packaged in a separate wasteful plastic casing.
I have a few of the leaplet downloads. Good concept not to have to carry the cartridges around but can download onto the exlporer handheld. Glad that the downloads didn't cost me $25 each or I would have been disappointed. The downloads are not super extensive... and I'm kinda hoping they come out with updates for the leaplets like they do for iPhone apps, that would make this product exceptional.
HarmoniesLEAST favorite. There are about six songs which is fine, but they really did a mix on Wheels on the Bus (a song my 3yo LOVES) and she won't even listen to it. She loves hip hop music so I was kinda surprised she didn't like it. The other songs are She'll be Coming Around the Mountain, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Row Row Row Your Boat and Bach Minuet. The Bach Minuet was a great idea done in accapella, and my daughter LOVES it! For each song you click on one of four singing characters and they start or stop singing based on your tapping them. My 3yo enjoys listening and adding in the people. The extra sounds available are lame and are not in sync with your tapping so not useful in teaching rythm (game boasts to teach harmony). Game would be better if styles were available for each song, ie Wheels on the Bus done in the hip hop version or could switch to normal preschool version. Thie one is ok, will more likely be used by my 18mo than my 3yo from other reviews should have gotten sugar bugs.

Personally I think the Leaplet cards are expesninve for the games you can download. There are many more educaitonal games on the internet for free with better graphics and learning capabilities. These Leaplets are only worth fifteen dollars worth of apps...so do NOT BE FOOLED into thinking you are getting a deal on a twenty dollar app card!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the old format when leapfrog downloads first came out and all apps were 7.50; they did this thnking you could buy 2 apps....now the reg. download cards are worth 20. There are VERY FEW good apps for 7.50 anymore. Most of the games are 10 and the ultra ebooks are 20 and the cartridge download games are 25. The reg. download cards DO go onsale all the time on amazon, so look for those! ONLY BUY THESE IF THEY ARE LESS THAN FIFTEEN DOLLARS! My boys both have a Leapster Explorer and these leaplets are fun for them because they get to pick their own games, flashcards, etc. In a perfect world, Leap Frog would offer more choices, but those are probably in the works. We like Jewel Train, Wheel Works, and the Spanish and Sea Animals Flashcards. SECRET: If you have more than one Leapster Explorer on your Leap Frog account, you can download the game from your Leaplet code onto BOTH your children's explorers. I just finished my college online Business Math class, which used this book. I found this book really helpful in my learning process. I learned a great deal and was so glad the book made it easy to learn. I will keep this book because I know I will be referring back to it from time to time. My daughter is a 1.5 years old and she just loves this toy. It is colorful and easy for her to play with. It is currently too complicated for her, but she seems to like the challenge. The only negative is that the octagon is not a perfect fit, and does not turn the gears if your spin it, but that does not stop the square and triangle from working great!

I had ordered a different scope a few years ago but you couldn't see a thing with it. This one actually is really good! It comes with prepared slides and you can make your own slides as well. I was impressed having experience with a "real" microscope, this is actually almost as durable and heavy. Watch out for the sharps that come with it though... CONSTRUCTION
The microscope is made of hard plastic with a carrying handle and microscope cover. No lens cover was a small minus. The slides are secured by two clips that swivel but no staging to adjust the slide's position on the platform. Large yellow knobs are easy to adjust. There are 3 settings 4X, 10X and 40X with the 10X eyepiece. There are two light settings: above and below the slide's stage. This operates with 3 AAA batteries.
The Experiment Manual is a 49 page full color glossy paperback with various scientific articles for exploration. The reading material is appropriate for a child in Junior High or Middle School.
USE
Just switch the lamp on and adjust your focus. There are a lot of accessories that accompany this microscope. It is easy to use and the light is actually quite bright. The image quality is excellent and the knobs make any youngster a more well prepared scientist.
OVERALL
My daughter and I had a great time looking at various items from the 4 accompanying prepared slides (Paramecium, Lining of the oral mucosa, NaCl crystals, Pollen, and the various slides that we created ourselves). For a better experience, I do recommend getting more teaching slides, as well as more new slides/cover slips.
Highly recommend this item. You will pay a little more but it's worth it.

I was looking around for a microscope for my daughter to use for her science project which involved investigating micro-organisms collected in various water habitats. I tried three different microscopes, and this one was by far the best. The other two microscopes she tried left much to be desired, especially in regard to the quality of the microscope itself. They were truly toys compared to this microscope. I highly recommend this microscope! The illumination of slides/samples is perfect, and reminded me of the microscopes I used in biology lab in college. This is my first time purchasing a microscope. I would put this in a catergory between toy and student microscope, which was perfect for my situation (nine year old). The bright colors seem to make it more toy like, but the quality is top notch and viewing slides is incredible. It is well made and seems to be durable. The two different led lights are much better than the mirror illumination. Super that you can choose which one to turn onsome models I looked at did not have this feature for some reason. The book that comes with it is a little lacking (especially when you don't know exactly how the eye piece and lenses go togetherwhich I did not...and this was after my son removed it of course) but I am really happy with this purchase. Also, you may want to purchase additional prepared slides if you are just starting out, only comes with five. Great educational 'toy' for those parents who are sick of video games and the like. This is an affordable but functional microscope to thrill enquiring minds. If you buy cheaper you'll get garbage that would put anyone off microscopy for life. But this scope is astonishingly well made and robust. I can easily see water bears, protists and friends. Yet you're not paying for fancy features that only college kids would want or be able to use.A bonus is tremendous customer service from the manufacturer. Two years after I bought my microscope I lost the ocular lens in a house move. When I wrote to Thames and Kosmos asking if replacements were available they sent me new one for free! Wow!
