I remember being creeped out by the Yano commercials growing up. The eery forced and toothless smile, the mechanical wiz that sounds when he frowns, his calm voice as he tells his stories. When my friend bought one, it turns out that is exactly what he is. Hilariously creepy. That Yano ended up having a stroke or something, because half his face melted into a permanent frown. When my friend tried to fix it, he peeled back the fleshy exterior to reveal a nightmarish robotic visage. His Yano never made a full recover.
Years later I found one at a junk store for cheap and figured, why not? He now sits on my shelf and watches me as I type this review. His mouth slightly curved in a smile, his eyes half open and staring into my very being.
For adults, Yano makes an excellent Halloween decoration. Just add fake blood and freeze him in the middle of one of his animations and Huzzah, Nightmares for everyone! For kids, Yano is a bit too unsettling. I suppose he's better than a furby (Man, do you remember furbys? Ah, the nineties...), but the fact that he only comes with one story gives him a low interaction time. His body is too hard to snuggle and too brittle to play with. Even if you do buy his other stories, there aren't enough to warrant the money.

I had a Yano when I was younger, around 10 I think. I used to play with him all the time. The ability to change the stories was always fun and there were a lot of possibilities.
