The characters are fun but the math is minimal. And I don't know why there's all this fighting in this game; it seems very different from the image I have of spongebob. And even the fighting is often too difficult at one point in the game for my six and eight year olds and they ask for adult help. And then there's very little educational value. I don't recommend this game.

SpongeBob is our son's (6 yo) latest favorite character/show. This really started about 2 or 3 months back. His past favorites have been: Cars (Disney/Pixar), Thomas the Engine, Backyardigans, Curios George, .... and for sure some other shows that I do not recall right now (o, yeah,.... pirates,... of course,.... in all sizes and forms). He still likes all these shows and characters, but recently his TRUE favorite is SpongeBop. He's always asking to check if it's on TV. I wonder if this is a age related thing,... because,... before he did not really watch SpongeBob, if it's on TV,.. he would switch to Backyardigans or Curious George, etc. .. But lately, he's actually looking and asking to watch SpongeBob a LOT,... and he's turning 6.So he was very enthusiastic with this game. Seems a bit hard at first, but he's really playing with it, and learning. I like that the game will dynamically adjust the level. So as he advances, and gets better, the game gets slightly a bit harder.
I suppose this is really for kids 6 and older, because these skill he's just learning,.... there are something's he really doesn't know yet ... and since this game is about teaching mathematic concepts (fractions, decimals, geometry, place value),... well the basics of it,.... but still,..... for a kid it's a bit hard,... and needs some explaining especially at the beginning. I think if he would have had this game 6 months, or a year ago,.. it would have been much harder (too hard) for him. I guess it's just right for him right now.
And SpongeBoB makes it all FUN for him to keep on it! I truly appreciate SpongeBob, and his friends in this aspect. The games with these characters help him go through the learning process. Some aspects/games/exercises are still too hard for him, ... but I think that's a good thing,... sooner or later he'll be learning the concepts. It probably will require some explaining from me, mom or his sisters.... But that's ok. We like that. I'm really interested in monitoring how he will progress with this game. The games include: Saving Sandy, Travel from Pier of Goo Lagoon to Pirate Ship (!!!), and Fighting master Udon's ninja's. Enough challenges to keep him entertained.
In all, I think this is a great game,.. educational, interesting, fun, not too easy, .. but a great way to help in (or start) learning the basic mathematic concepts.
