I took a couple electronics classes in high school but have since forgotten much of what I learned. I figured this product would help me recall what I forgot and hopefully learn a lot more. Unfortunately I discovered this is much less a learning tool and much more of a small repetitive circuit builder. It simply tells you how to wire a circuit so that it will make a noise or light up in some way not really telling you what reaction anything has to anything else. Also, in the introduction it explains that you will not really learn much without a multimeter which of course must be provided by you. Some of the projects are kind of neat but I don't know what I'm supposed to be learning.

If you know a little more about electronics this could be fun and much more helpful in understanding circuits but apparently I forgot more than I thought. Try it if you like.

Good, but lengthy. You need patience. Goof to pair with a beginner resource for electronics...

I was very pleased with the easy way a circuit can be built combined with the visibility of the true components. No parts can be lost or confused. The book is set up as a hands on step-by-step class in basic electronics, and most of the circuits are well-conceived, although a few require some more explanation to make sense to a fledgling. The price is right, too.

I bought this for my nephew. He has taken an interest in it and is building the projects. The manual explains the circuits, but a basic tutorial is needed. I would recomend this kit for anybody who wants to get a hands on experience in wiring circuits.

This reminds me of the days when Radio Shack carried these types of kits. They are very educational.

The cover of this electronic playground is as this as the cover of a paperback book. One wayward poke of a wire and it will be punctured for sure. In the meantime, my 7 year old has made several of the circuits and likes to create different noises.

It is really meant for a little older child, so we'll probably use it more when he is closer to 10-11.
