I bought this in combination with Uncle Milton National Geographic Expedition Trekking Pack and Uncle Milton National Geographic Outdoor Explorer's Pack, for my 4 year old son. He loved them! This has a cool container you can put rocks, twigs, or insects in. The top also comes off and attaches to a head strap that acts as a headlamp! Probably my sons favorite feature of this.

The combination of his Uncle Milton National Geographic outdoor toys has been a lot of fun and excitement. I would definitely recommend them for the outdoorsy/explorer kid in your family.
