I took this course last fall and learned a lot. I previously have done graduate work in statistics, but this course opened my eyes to a whole new way to look at data. Previously I only knew of how to do static plots of data in Excel and SAS, but this course opened my eyes to a whole new way to visualize data. This course will give a good introduction as to how to give a better view of data interactively. The course shows you how to create these visualizations using Spotfire software. An example may be an illustration showing sales amounts, with another graph showing sales by state. With a well created illustration, you could click on the highest sales on the one graph, and you will instantly see what state(s) correspond to the highest sales (or vice versa).

Interactive Data Visualization is great course to show you how to get a better look at your data in quick easy steps. In some cases, the plots can be done with conventional statistical software, but will take a lot more time and effort.
