Hopefully, this review will save someone all of the trouble I had with this cartridge!

I helped my daughter get started with this cartridge. On the MAIN MENU, there are 4 different zones Super Sudsy, Ultra Outer-Spacey, Wrap Pack and Stack-It, and the Mini Games (which are just very short games). However, only two of the zones were colorized and we were only able to select those two zones Super Sudsy and the Mini Games.

I thought it was broken. I e-mailed Leap Frog to find out what was wrong, and they were very good about e-mailing back within a day or so. But, they couldn't tell me what was wrong. First they gave me instructions on how to recalibrate the unit. That did no good. Then, the Leap Frog employee apologized for not telling me sooner that the two zones I couldn't access only work on the TV so, I tried that they didn't work on the TV either. Then, the employee said that since my other cartridges work fine, it must be a problem with the cartridge and gave me instructions on how to send it in for repair or exchange.

My husband is an avid video game player (not LMAX, but Playstation 2 and others), and he said the only thing he could think of is that you must have to play awhile in order to access the other zones. I had e-mailed Leap Frog asking them that a few times, but they never responded to that part of my e-mails. Finally, before going through the trouble of sending it in, I called Leap Frog, and the first person I talked to knew exactly what it was the same thing that my husband suggested it might be! I sat down and played myself, and it took me 10 minutes to unlock the Space Zone I was so glad that we found out what we needed to do before we sent it in for repair at our own expense. But, the instructions should tell consumers that you must unlock those other two zones by playing the Super Sudsy Zone, and they don't also, whoever was e-mailing me from Leap Frog didn't know it either.

The game is great, by the way. It keeps my daughter's interest and helps with many different math skills that she hasn't been exposed to yet.

I just gave this game to my twins for their 4th birthday. They fight over who gets to play it. It took some time to master the L-max and the Leapster controller (we have both), but once they figured that out, going up and down the pipes and jumping over the digits was a breeze. They both knew their numbers to 20 before playing, but now they understand the concept of "before" and "after" such as "What number comes before 5?" They will hunt to find the numbers and knock over the "Widgets". They love to figure out the questions. The game also teaches them to write their numbers, which was something they didn't have interest in before. This morning, Anika learned how to write '65' and Alex learned how to write '43'. That's how many 'Widgets' they collected, I guess.

The game has 3 technical levels to work from. They are doing great on level 1. I'm confident that in about a week or two, they will be on level 2.

This game is so far beyond the Gameboy and Playstation for educational purposes (neither of which we own). It makes me feel a little better knowing that they are actually learning something useful for school while entranced in the game. They earn time on the Leapster/L-Max for doing different chores around the house (see my review of the Pink/Purple Leapster.) My home has never been more orderly and quiet. They don't understand the concept of allowance for doing chores, but they sure do understand 'game time' on their Leapsters.

The only thing that I can say that is bad about the game is that is way overpriced. I wish there were more levels for $30. It's a really big hit to the pocket for a month or two of game time.

My almost 5 year old got the Leapster system for Christmas and 4 game cartridges (thomas, spongebob, kindergarten and counting on zero). So far, all I have seen him play all week is Counting on Zero!!

He is just starting to read and write and has always been puzzle crazy ! I was told most children who love puzzles and riddles will show an interest in numbers and math early. So far this has proven true.

It is easy enough for a child who is just begining to recognize words to play alone, and occasionally when he needs some help from Mom, I am so happy to see him enjoy learning I'm overjoyed to help !! He also seems engaged and entertained without making me feel guilty for letting him play alone while I get some chores done.

Overall, I give Numbers on the Run/Counting on Zero an A+ !!

I hope leapfrog keeps up the good work and creates more games like this!

I bought this for my 3 and a half year old daughter. After only a couple of days she can play the game (similar to Mario Bros) where you move the "zero" through mazes up, down, across and yes she can even jump over stuff. I am amazed how she is coming along with writing her numbers too. It does require her to write them well before it will except it. Sometimes she gets frustrated and I put my hand over hers and help write the number but usually after a few tries she does it independently. This game is similar to Letters on the Loose. I love them both!!

My 5 year old son got a Leapster L-Max and this game, "Numbers on the Run: Counting on Zero" for his birthday. He's had the game for about 2 weeks and it is by far his favorite toy. We homeschool and I find this game to be a wonderful supplement to the math curriculum we're using! This game has helped my son to better understand the concept of zero. It has also given him extra practice writing numbers, counting, and identifying "more than" and "fewer than." Highly recommended!
