We bought this as a travel toy when our son was just one and a half so he can play with the magnets supervised and learn a couple basic shapes. There are only a few pieces and is easy to clean up for him. He is two and a half now and is doing both the level 1 and 2 sides by himself. It is one of the favorite toys at home and when we're away. We know that he will only love this toy more as he gets older as additional cards can be purchased (Tangoes Jr. Puzzle Packs and he starts to create his own puzzles.
This set contains the following:
Plastic carrying/storage case with handle, slide-out tray for magnetic pieces, and top that flips up to store cards in the compartment beneath
11 double-sided, laminated puzzle cards and 1 blank card, the puzzles are: Camel, Cat, House, Lamp, Leaping Woman, Man in Cap, Rabbit, Sailboat, Sitting Man, Skipping Man, and Swan
7 plastic pieces with magnets inside that include 2 large triangles, 1 medium triangle, 2 small triangles, 1 parallelogram, and 1 square
The toy is made in China.
Of course, the toy is recommended for 4to 6-year olds so don't expect every toddler to be interested immediately. Our son has always been interested in spatial reasoning toys early on and any toddler who has shown signs of that (and does not place small pieces in his or her mouth) will probably enjoy the toy. Some of his playmates of the same age do not touch the toy though we believe that they will want to try it later.
Though experts advise that the use of magnets should be supervised around babies and toddlers, we do think this toy is very safe for the recommended age. The case has rounded edges and has durable pieces as they have held up to toddler-use. The puzzle cards are not too thin and are son has been careful not to bend them. As a previous reviewer has mentioned, when our child was younger, he needed help to pull the tray out but not anymore. The pieces are molded around the magnet so are unlikely to ever come out. The smallest pieces, the triangles, are two inches on its longest side and so has manufacturer listing the toy with possible choking hazards.
Great for travel and quiet play, the perfect introduction to Tangoes puzzles
Overall, if your child loves puzzles or if you want him or her to learn to love puzzles, this is highly recommended. We honestly think that every child should try a Tangoes puzzle at least once.

We got this and our 3 year old and 5 year old love it. There are two different levels of playone with the shapes and another without (so you place the shapes on your own to make the larger shape). Both boys feel challenged and enjoy both levels. I think level 2 can work for much older children because even I have to work through figuring out the shapes spatially. Also, the shapes are magnetic, so can be a great toy on the road! All in all, a highly recommended educational toy for many ageswe haven't gotten the adult version of tangoes yet, but plan to!

This product is very good for helping children to develop their mind capabilities. Is very important to do that from an early age. And this is a good product for accomplishing this goal. I remember having one of these when I was a child. The only problem (with this toy specifically) is that if your child loose one piece, the toy becomes almost useless. So you need to take care that the child do not loose any piece.
Honest reviews on Tangoes Junior
This game is a wonderful strategy for developing visual spatial talent in young children. I use tangrams in my classroom all the time, and this game is exceptional.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Tangoes Junior
Overall I'm pleased with the Tangoes Jr toy.Pros:
1. Great idea, overall design, tangram storage, etc. We haven't had tons of use so far, but I think it has great educational value, and I hope we get good use out of this in the coming months and years.
Cons:
1. This toy (like most other toys) only kept my kids' attention for 5-10 minutes in the car on our recent trip. My active kids (3&5 yrs) actually enjoyed listening to audio books in the car much more than playing with this toy.
2. If you buy the extra card packs, you can't fit them into this unit very well. One extra pack might fit, but 2-3 additional ones make closing the lid impossible.
3. In my opinion, the "object" pack (sold separately) provided the most variety among the bonus packs. I particularly wish I hadn't bought the additional "people" pack. There are already several "people" among the included cards, and the various "people" don't look very different from each other to my 3 & 5 year olds.
4. My 3-year-old enjoys doing the easy side, but the cards will likely get folded and chewed on very soon. They're not much better than good playing cards. Shouldn't be a problem for older or more careful children.
