i bought this toy for my now 15 months old son. i got it for him when he was a year old. i wanted to get some toys for car rides and this works for 5-10 minutes keeping his little hand busy so he doesn't fussy over the whole car ride when i run some quick errands around town.
the barnyard animals are engaging for him to open and close the doors. it makes snappy sounds when the doors open or close. it is a very simple toy, but it helps in exercising his fingers and hands/eyes coordination.
make sure this toy is not thrown around too much with excessive force because it can easily be chipped.

Lets start with I LOVE Melissa and Doug toys! Always so well made and I don't worry about all the lead and cadium paint problems that keep popping up with toys made in China. I bought this for my 1 year old and he loves to open and close the barn door. He is so happy everytime he opens a door and sees the different animals. I love it because its small and quiet so I can throw it in my diaper bag as an "emergency toy" to keep him busy while out and about.

I first saw this toy at the Omaha children's museum in the little kids section I loved it and so did my daughter. I gifted this to the baby's at x-mas and it was a hit!!!

This is such a sweet little alternative for books in the back of the car or when we are waiting in the doctor's office. My 15 month old loves to open and close the doors (which make a very satisfying "clack" without any risk of pinched fingers!) And make the animals noises... I imagine as he gets a bit older we will be able to play an elementary game of "Memory"...A nice sturdy little purchase :)

I bought this for my son's 1 year birthday. He loves to open and shut things. Everything. My drawers, doors, fridge, jewelry box. So I got this for him and it definately holds his interest. At first he was a little frustrated because it does take some strength to open the little doors, but in a few days he had it down and he loves it.
