Buy Fisher-Price: Laugh & Learn Toolbench
One of the best gifts we got for our kids. Has ABC and music settings (and the all-important off switch!), but is entertaining even off (if you can't stand the noise anymore). They can press the shape buttons (or hit them with the included hammer). It makes it light up up and make noise (and a little "person" pops up) when they press the shapes. There is also a sliding button in the front which activates music and lights and a pretend measuring tape that can be pulled. The older kids will still play with this as well as infants and toddlers. Well-designed toy, and lasted us four years already. My daughter played with one of these at daycare. I looked everywhere for it and finally did. I wasn't paying to much attention to it when I bought it it is in English not American English, but England English. It isn't a problem for us, it's just funny when it sings the alphabet, it ends with 'zed' instead of 'z'. My daughter just loves it!
