We have a 5 and 4 year old boys. We had to get a second one for our 5 year old since he got the leapster explorer for Christmas and our 4 year old got the V Reader. While our 5 year old likes the leapters explorer very much, he also loves his V Reader just as well. The convenient storage case fits up to 6 e books cassetes and fits nicely like a back pack; excellent for quick trips. Takes 4 double AA batteries and it is power hungry; rechargable batteries are the way to go; few books for early readers; most of them are for 5 to 7 years old. It has expandable memory via a SD card which the 6 free books are downloaded to. The screen is very sharp with nice definition; surprising for a 60 dollar toy. Over all very pleased with the purchase.

It worked very well but he got bored with it pretty quickly. The stories and games were cute and the device worked well.

My 3 year old likes it well enough, he's getting more proficient at the games, he LOVES the dictionary and the stories, but in a few months we've worn out the 6 books we bought. The stories are very short and very simple. This would be really great if they offered real books instead of the character books and movies turned into ebooks. There is just not enough to them to really stimulate a young child or to last very long beyond the initial thrill. Hopefully over time more books and more advanced stories will be available. Still, it was the best of the few choices out there.

For some reason it took over 3 weeks for this item to get to me. However, it was a present for my god son and he love it and that's all that matters.
