1. DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD RUN THROUGH DOORWAYS WITH THIS GUITAR
2. DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD STAND OR SIT ON THIS GUITAR
3. DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD MANIPULATE THE TUNING MACHINES (ALMOST ALL THE DAMAGE I SEE ON THESE GUITARS COMES FROM WAY OVER TIGHTENING THE STRINGS)
4. DO NOT LEAVE THIS GUITAR IN YOUR CAR ON A HOT SUMMER DAY (WARP)
5. USE LIGHT GAUGE STRINGS
If you follow the above suggestions you will have many years of enjoyment from this very cool looking guitar. The most common repair that I have done to these guitars is the bridge coming off from too much string tension. The bridges are screwed on with the heads of the screws under the plastic dots which must be pried out to access. Originally I thought this a bad idea to use screws instead of glue but the lifting of the bridge from too much tension can be easily remedied by gluing it down and learning the lesson that the tuning machines are stronger in a tug of war with the bridge.

I have put together a guitar program for kids k-5. We have 45 guitars of all sizes of cheap makes and have been at it for a few years. This particular model of First Act guitar is one of the most popular guitars with the kids because of its size and tone. It comes with steel strings which need to be changed to nylon for little fingers. For $30 plus a set of nylons you have set a kid up. Once they get bigger you can help get them another more appropriate guitar and you can play this one...you will be surprised at its tone. Yes I have glued a few together but no big deal...the tuners are a really nice design. It would be unfair to compare this to an antique high end parlor. This is the best inexpensive entry into a guitar for a kid.Best Deals for First Act FG4077 Checkered Winged Heart Acoustic
I've been playing guitar since the late 60s. I have played way worse guitars, that cost me way more. If you have a younger student, don't be afraid to try this. Put a new set of strings on it and enjoy. Most beginners will quit within the first 8 weeks. You won't be out much in that case. The biggest offender for new learners is a guitar that is impossible to play. The action is not horrible on this one, and the tone, limited because of the size, isn't real bad. If they are still playing in 2 months, spend some money on a decent guitar. Avoid Squiers and other B-team guitars. You will never get anything back if you sell them.I personally use mine a lot tuned to open tunings with a slide. Records very nice this way!
Enjoy!

I don't play guitar. I did study jazz drumset at Calarts and do play the heck out of some drums. Anyway my buddy showed me how to slide on this badboy, and I didn't look back (I've only been playing this for 4 days). This is worth the price fo shosho.

Obviously not everybody's cup of tea, being smaller than the usual. It's dimensions are:
Entire length [including endpin]: 79.5 cm
Width at widest: 26.1 cm
Body depth: 5.8 cm
When tuned to G instead of the standard E, it tunes perfectly and intonation keeps all the way up the neck, on all the strings.
It sounds like a guitar, not quite as loud as some but definitely loud enough and very pleasant.
Uses light guage strings.
Sits comfortably in any playing position.
The neck meets the body at the 14th fret.
Definitely recommendable.
