This toy is pretty cute we always take it when we travel since it seems to hold our very active son's interest and when in doubt, you always have the blocks to use separately. My son initially enjoyed watching us play with it when he was about 6 mos. old and now that he is 8 mos. old, he can put the blocks in the holes himself and seems to enjoy the different animal noises. The woman's voice isn't too annoying;we don't usually buy many toys which require batteries, but this was a gift and it seems to be something he comes back to again and again.

We got the Learning Town Barn Buddies about a week ago and my baby loves it. My son copies the animal noises that the toy makes and generally has a great time playing with it. The design is smart in that the blocks can fit in any direction and the toy still responds. The blocks are a good size for his little hands and he is able to get the block into the square hole by himself to cause the noises, songs and words to pour forth. He also enjoys putting the blocks down the chute so the toy says "wheee!"
The toy includes three colored blocks and each color corresponds to a different animal (pink pig, yellow duck and brown cow). The pink block (pig) is preset in the barn and the toy has batteries already so we were able to hear the pink pig noises as soon as we opened the Amazon box. It was hard to get out of the packaging but that seems fairly standard these days. Once we got it out of the packaging, he could play with it immediatly. A big plus: the toy has two volume settings. We keep it on low volume and keep our parental sanity. The toy can be turned off completely also.

My 15 month old will spend 20-30 minutes at a time with all of the learning town components (a long time to be dedicated at that age!). He figured out very quickly where all of the blocks go and how to make them make different sounds he loves all of the songs. It's especially useful how all of the blocks work in all of the different buildings. I (and my child) love this whole set!!

My 8 month old daughter loves loves loves this toy. When we received it in the mail she wanted to play with it but it was a Christmas present so it went to be wrapped. We were shopping a few days later and she saw it on the shelf. She went crazy. Now that she has it to play with it is definitely one of her very favorites. The blocks are a perfect sizes for her hands. She often plays with them by themselves. She loves the song and words often trying to imitate them. We are still working on getting her to be able to put the blocks in the hole herself that will come in time. One of the great things about this toy is the blocks from the other learning town sets (such as Happy Home and the Car Wash) will work in this one also.

My 7 month old daughter loves this toy. The blocks are the perfect size for little hands. She uses them with the barn or alone. She also has the house, and soon to get the wash and wax. The blocks all interact with each toy so it doesn't matter which block she uses it works!!
