While these sets are not a complete reading program, they offer a good base for homeschool families with a interest in phonics-based reading. The stories are a bit silly, and the illustrations are well done. The rods are an enjoyable manipulative with many uses beyond the texts themselves. The activities included with each book extend the learning.

My daughter is 4 and is at the beginning stage of reading, she can recognize many words and was so ready to read, so once we received these educational rods, we began her reading journey and I must say we are VERY pleased.
