This shape sorter house has a great variety of shapes. Not only does it have standards like triangles and squares, it also has a bunch of little odd shapes that fit into the scene of the house (bird, dog, cat, kids). I like how all the pieces store inside. A panel comes off the back roof so you can easily reach in to get the pieces. The handle is on the top and not at all connected to a lid so you can pick it up without the toy coming apart. The panel is easy enough to get off for little ones to do on their own. Right now my daughter (16 mo) primarily enjoys putting the pieces in and out of the house through the access panel and doesn't use the shape spots much making it something that can easily be grown into. My 3 year old understood the 'scene' aspect of the house although the 16 mo old doesn't care about that at all.
There are two cons for me, 1) the people just look weird; and 2) the smaller pieces can fit into the large shape specific holes so it's not completely a shape exclusive sort of puzzle but they're still fun to get into the house however they do it.We bought this for our daughter who is only 10 months. So she's a bit young to fully grasp the concept of shape sorting, but she does like to play with this. She generally just likes to take things in and out of the large hole in the side. I find some of the smaller pieces to be choking hazards, so those are put away for now. Like the other reviewer, I find it a bit odd that many of the smaller objects can be fit in through many of the larger openings, so it doesn't really encourage the child to sort the shapes. So I don't see a lot of educational value in it, but its cute and its built to last. And my daughter enjoys playing with it, so I can recommend it.
