My 5 year old boy loves this game system. It was very easy to set up, and we can even take it with us in the car on a trip since it runs on batteries and can connect to the DVD system in the car. The game is very appropriate for his age level, and is easy for him to navigate.

Just got this in the mail Friday--we received this free through a BzzAgent campaign--my son had fun playing with it before we even hooked it up! He enjoyed putting the transformer in the portal, pushing the button, and having him disappear. After me showing him once, he can now take the system out of the box, hook it up to the TV, play it, and put it away when he's done--definitely wins points for easy set up!

Pros: Ease of hook-up; easy of use; so far, holds battery life; fun, but not addictive (a great thing!)

Cons: Batteries in the console--boo! I understand having batteries in the controller, but I wish the console had an AC adapter, too. We had a little trouble figuring out that the character had to 'click' into place in the portal before he would be activated in the game, this was not mentioned in the instructions.

Overall, a great little system for little kids!!

My sons were incredibly excited to play the Transformers Rescue Bots Beam Box game system when we first opened it. Very simple to set up, once we found enough batteries (six were needed and of different sizes), and we read the instructions. Plugging it in with the simple A/V cords was great, until you turned on the game and realized that the graphics were terrible. My younger son was able to ignore it, but my older son started to get a headache. For fifty dollars, you'd expect there to be another power option or at least for the games to look better. I'm thankful that this console was free through BzzAgent, because we would have returned it and used the money on a Wii or Xbox game that they both would have enjoyed much more.

Honest reviews on Playskool Heroes Transformers Rescue Bots Beam Box Game System

I received this item free as a BzzAgent campaign. This thing is brilliant and my son loves it. When we first plugged it in, we questioned the graphics quality. Then you look at the kid and realize he hasn't matured into a full-grown video quality snob yet and that totally doesn't matter to him. Then you question whether or not you want him to be a couch potato yet. Nope again! He was so darn excited that he was jumping around the living room the whole time and nearly vibrating with enthusiasm. I was also concerned that although the ages are 3-7 and my son is 3.5 that he wouldn't be able to grasp the concept of the directional pad. He did have to have it explained a few times but by the end of night one, he's a pro. So I give up. He's quelled all my doubts and adores this game. He is so proud of himself too! It's programmed to where they always feel like a winner and I heard him telling himself "Great job! You're the best!"

Spouses of gamers beware, you'll have to remind your counterpart that your child doesn't have to have a perfect game and is having a blast. Oh, and the trick to a no-tears end to game time: it's time to let the Transformer back out. It provides a fun diversion and then you can make it final by telling the Transformer good night.

First and Foremost I need to mention that I got the Beam Box for Free from Bzz Agent.

I want to give my honest review of the product.

Pros:

My 4 year old who has in the past really struggled with any video games can play.

He even can push the button and make Optimus Prime disappear and then reappear on the TV.

My son is a very praise and reward driven child so each time he earns part of the bronze silver or gold metal her is very excited to tell me.

The 5 games that comes with Optimus Prime has kept him busy thus far, however he has seen the expansion packs he mentions that he would like that for Christmas.

Cons:

It doesn't come with batteries, and if you are like me you are lucky to have 1 type of batteries around not the two different sizes that you need. Even worse it has to have super fresh, right out of the package batteries. Not batteries that you steal from another toy. So bad news for my kiddo was that we couldn't play with it the day that it came.

Optimus Prime has gotten stuck inside the game while he was being beamed up and while you can easily get him out, a screwdriver is needed. Those times have been a result of my 4 year old trying to make the magic happen with Optimus Prime.
