Plugged it in and was surprised. Great action and nice snappy precision tone. Good for slap bass and other styles. Easy to handle. Only negative is that the tone control didn't have much range. Pretty much like a two way switch.
I would not hesitate to buy this for any beginning or intermediate player. Lots of fun and so comfortable. Gloss neck, which isn't my favorite, but pretty fast.

I love this Bass it is shorter which I really love (About the size of regular guitar). Bass came with no reason to set it up low action, intonation right on & D'Addario Nickle Wound strings. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a bass.Best Deals for Jay Turser Bass Guitars Jtb-40-tr 4-string Bass Guitar, Transparent
I received the Turser "1/2 size" bass. It really isn't that small, it measured 42" in length from bottom of body to top of head stock. The bass body itself is not much smaller than a standard bass (bigger than a typical full size strat guitar). It seems pretty heavy compared to a stanadard scaled base. I bought this base to convert into an electric baritone ukulele thinking that it was the branded version of the 36" child's bass listed eleswhere on Amazon. Well it is much larger than the description of the 36" child's bass. Initially it looks well made for an $85 bass but I will be setting it up as a Baritone ukulele/Tenor guitar and I will amend this review with comments on the quality of its neck, electronics, sound etc.Update: decided to keep as a bass, had it setup for action and intonation and plays very well much better than my expectations based on the price. Excellent value.
