My 5 year dino-manic son spent hours chipping, scraping, dusting the clay that entombs the Brachiosaurs fossil. Every bone find was a major event. Keep a spray water bottle to manage the dust from the plaster cast. The final fossil is not exactly stable, but the whole point of the toy is the digging. The finished dino looks realistic on his toy shelf.

My 4 year old loves dinosaurs and found this project particularly special. He said he was a Paleontologist on a mission for fossils. He enjoyed chipping away at the plaster rock and was anxious to find out which dinosaur we were excavating. I didn't show him the package because I wanted him to find clues...sharp teeth vs flat teeth, spikes/plates vs long neck, etc. He jumped up and said, " I found something!" when he chipped off a good piece of the plaster rock. Too cute!
He is eager to work on the next skeleton. (my back!)
Great quality~
It's a messy project, so prepare the work area.

We purchased this item for our children ages 3 and 5. They enjoyed digging out the bones and I was pleased that the plastic used to make the dinosaur bones was flexible and soft. Because of this there was no worry about damaging the "fossil" while digging it out. However the same soft plastic made it impossible to have the finished dinosaur stand up for display which was the main reason I bought the product. It was a fun, messy project that ended with poor results. I would say it was worth it if it was half the price or if you were doing it just for the excavation. If you are looking to have a cool dinosaur model afterwards, you might want to look else where. I wouldn't purchase it agian.

A great father and son project. My son loves these kits. He really enjoys digging for the bones and putting the skeleton together once all the pieces are found. The rest of the kids at his birthday party all wanted to help. We will be getting them all dinosaurs to dig for Christmas. This is a big hit with kids.
