I used these cards as a processing tool for my final session of a series of action research (informal gatherings) for citizens who came together to talk about violence in their community. The pictures allowed citizens (of all education, sector, backgrounds) to process their part in the sessions or how they felt as being a part of the group. One of the most profound answers I had gotten was " i picked this card (the fish swimming) because I feel as if we are now (as a community) all swimming in the same direction. These can be used as icebreakers, or a reflective closing activity. Great for small groups and larger groups. I highly recommend---as the artworks is beautiful too. As a Certified Recreation Therapist I think this is a set of cards each person should have in their toolbox.

Highly recommended! Plus, they're extremely portable.

I use these cards in my practice as a family therapist. One of my favorite stories is when a young child in the family picked up the cactus picture and said "My daddy is like this". The dad had no idea that he was so "prickly" . The metaphor was a powerful one that stuck with him. These cards open conversation, let people form their own explanations of how they are feeling, and help all group members see different perspectives. Highly recommended!!!
