I picked up a tumbler second hand for a few bucks and bought this grit to give it a try. The grit works well and we ended up with some decent looking polished stones by following the simple instructions. I would point out though that there's not a huge amount of grit here. This is a great starter pack but if I was going to continue polishing stones in any quantity I would advise buying larger quantities of each grade from the same supplier rather than repeatedly buying this pack.

This grit pack has the four main grits required for tumblers. The materials are good and packaged well, but anyone wanting to polish rocks on a regular basis would be better off buying materials from a metallurgical supply company or some other source in bulk. The price is just too high for anything but a once or twice project. There is nothing wrong with the material and the grits work very well, but I think they are overpriced. Of course, I think paying for bottled water is also a waste of money. For a one-time experiment, this pack will do, but they also sell a double quantity pack (#302) that is a better value, but still overpriced in my opinion.

this is a great quality product. we run 4 (3lb capacity) tumblers and this is only enough grit to tumble and polish about 3 pounds of rock. i notice most of the reviews saying smaller than expected so just wanted to let every oneknow how much rock this would do.

I'm a newbie in the rock polishing world, so this review needs to be taken with that perspective in mind. The box is tiny. It looks like it's going to be big, but there's very little grit in the box. We have a large box of collected agates awaiting polishing, and I'd be surprised if this quantity does more than two batches. The quality of the grit seems good. If anybody is more seasoned, they can correct my assertion that it feels a little like an overpriced asset.

The package is a lot smaller then it looks. Maybe 6 inches by 6. The product is expensive, but does work as advertised
