I bought one of these sets at a gem and mineral show for $6. That seems to be the average price. I looked through several sheets before I found the one I liked. I was looking for one that had a turquoise that was, well, turquoise color and I found one (many had turquoise that were dark and not blue-green at all). The lapis was nice as well. If you get a good one, it is a great set for little money. By the way, the tiger's eye that came with it is stunning. Most of the stones are nowhere near gem quality but that certainly is. None of the gems are expensive, but try finding a howlite at your local jewelry store. So if you want one of these, do an internet search by searching for all of the gems in one long Google entry. Or visit a local gem and mineral show. I get the sense that this set is no longer being made, so get one soon. Good luck.

This is a good collection for students to examine but the specimens are small and while they are able to learn some distinguising features, the set does not lend itself to a really thorough examination.

They look like fingernails. Many were loose and had to be reglued. They sent two, inexplicably. Not much in the way of documentation.
