I use this model frequently in my college intro psychology classes. It is a large model, which allows students to see the structures I am discussing while I hold the model. The different structures and areas of the brain are well colored, allowing for easy identification of brain structures. I really like that I can remove part of the spinal cord and limbic system as I lecture; I am able to show the smaller interior structures of the brain in more detail as I discuss these structures while still demonstrating that they are part of the larger brain system. Students enjoy "playing" with this model during lecture and after class; I can pass around the left hemisphere (it stays together) while I continue to discuss the interior structures of the brain with the right hemisphere (it divides into sections). The model is well-labelled on the outside but could be better labelled inside.
I really appreciate that this model doesn't come apart into too many different sections. I have used models that have more separate pieces, and have found them difficult to put back together while lecturing.
The sections of this model do fit tightly together; at first that can be difficult, esp while in lecture. Over time, the model loosens slightly, making the model just right. The model is solidly made, and I and my co-workers have used it for several years now. The model has held up very well.
My only complaint is that the model's stand is made of cheap, hard hollow plastic; it broke easily. This hasn't been a big deal, but the manufacturer should make a better stand for the model.
