Upon receiving the globe with much anticipation, I was disappointed, for two reasons:

1. The seam along the equator is very wide and visible. When the globe is plugged in w/ light on, there is a visible shade around the seam/equator that looks simply ugly. This globe is certainly not suitable as decoration.

2. The raised-relief map is not precise. Upon casual examination, I found that Mount McKinley is in the ocean, and Switzerland is all flat, and so on and so forth (where on earth do those Swiss ski then?!) I'd rather have no relief than one that is off by 1/4 inch.

In short, don't buy it if you want to get a top quality globe.

It's a nice globe, it lights up and shows a lot of detail and information but for spending almost 100 bucks the base looks kind of cheesy and the globe has a cheap feel to it, the base is light and if you bumped into it, it could be very easy to knock it over and break it.

I gave this to my dad as a gift. I was surprised that he wanted a globe for his birthday, but he was very happy with this one. Its a good size, sturdy construction, and has a decently elegant look with the bronze arm and walnut stained based.

My 10 year old was thrilled with this globe including the raised relief and the internal light although she had to wait for that feature as we forgot to consider the difference in power cords and globes when ordering internationally (would have been good to have had a reminder when placing order). The base and bracket aren't as classy as I expected, but good enough to keep my daughter happy. Accurate delivery estimate.

Very nice product. Has all the up to date countries. Only problem is that it has to much information, the type print must be so small that on 75% of it, we need a magnifying glass. But, well worth the money.
