This really works! I love it! I was dubious that the fan would work, but it did, and when you reverse the beakers, the fan changes direction. Great for science class!

It works! Put ice with water into one of the containers, and hot water into the other; wait a few minutes and off it goes. Excellent demonstration of how a relatively small temperature difference, and no moving parts, can generate electricity. Of course the actual power generated is very small. I have not measured it (plan to) but it is probably less than one watt. It will run for maybe 5 minutes until the hot water cools down. Continuously replenishing the hot water will keep it going for a long time.
