This is a useful, hand-held, scope perfect for curious kids and school assignments. It is not meant to be a substitution for a table-top, lab style scope. The directions mention that you need new batteries for the scope, but we tested it with some rechargeables and the light was adequate but very orange. Later I put in a fresh set of standard batteries and the light was a bright while much better. Timeless Toys had an issue with their supply chain, but quickly and happily cleared it up for me.
