The younger kids seem to really get a kick out of these, but I am not so sure about learning to play an intrument by using them. I'm sure you probably could learn a little, but the age group that has the capacity to learn to play drums or guitar are not going to be interestd in this product. For toddlers and preschoolers, it's great because they get real music they can sing and dance with instead of the cheesy electronic music that most kid instruments produce. They are quite affordable and have proven worth it for our family, even if they are used more by visitors than my own kids (age 3 and 5).

Got them each one for Christmas and they love it. NOt completely made of "paper" most is plastic. Easy for little ones to figure out how to make it work. Plays one song and I think I'm actually turning japanese I really think so...

I got this for my 4-year-old for his birthday because he has an older cousin who has one and had been talking about it for over 6 months. I wasn't sure if he would end up liking it or if it would drive us crazy hearing the same song over and over again. Turns out, it was the favorite of all of his birthday presents. He has a lot of interest in playing the guitar and even got a real guitar as well for his birthday. He loves playing this paper jamz and even likes wearing headphones to play it silently to himself, which is great for the rest of us!

The only bad thing is that we haven't had time to read the instructions to help him learn how to change songs or modes. Plus, he is a lefty and keeps turning the guitar the wrong way, so I think his arm bumps the "mode" button and switches frequently which frustrates him terribly.

It has been a great guitar! Seems sturdy as well-my 18-month-old has stepped on it several times and it's holding up well!
