Kit arrived as advertised with all necessary parts and clear instructions. It was easy for my 16 year old to assemble for a school project. No help needed from mom and dad yeah!

Bought this to use for a fun demonstration while teaching about simple machines. Had a student put it together and it works great. Seems easier to wind by "backing" up the tires instead of winding the string around the post. Good quality and works as described.

I put this together with my 10yr old nephew. It was a nice little project for us both to fiddle with. Took us about 30mins or so to put together, basically following the pictures. The only problem we had was that the string kept falling off the 'hook'. So we tried to knot it onto that area instead. getting the string to wind around was a bit of a problem too...but we found ways that were not to inconvenient to adjust to that too. The racer moves pretty slow, but probably b/c of the string problems we were having, seeing as the string unwinding is what 'motors' the car. Nonetheless i gave it 4 stars because he enjoyed putting it together and he was happy to see that we did it well enough to actually get it moving!

This kit is easier because the instructions and supplies allow a pre-teen to read the instructions and complete the project on their own if they are the hands-on solitary project type. They will certainly get a sense of pride in accomplishing a working mouse-trap racer all by themselves. If you were going to have an adult supervised project I would recommend going out and buying the few supplies you need or finding them around the house which doubles as a lesson in recycling and innovation.
